是關(guan)(guan)(guan)云長(chang)最初(chu)顯圣(sheng)成為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)佛(fo)教外護(hu)的(de)(de)老道場(chang)。智(zhi)者(zhe)大(da)(da)師(shi)在(zai)(zai)此(ci)開(kai)講開(kai)講法(fa)華三(san)(san)大(da)(da)部的(de)(de)其(qi)中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)兩部,神秀大(da)(da)師(shi)從這里走出(chu),受(shou)(shou)武(wu)則(ze)天(tian)邀(yao)請成為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)兩京化主(zhu)、三(san)(san)帝國師(shi);唐(tang)代(dai)天(tian)文(wen)學家(jia)一(yi)行(xing)禪(chan)(chan)(chan)師(shi)在(zai)(zai)這里生活過八(ba)年(nian)(nian)之(zhi)久。關(guan)(guan)(guan)羽(yu),又名(ming)(ming)關(guan)(guan)(guan)云長(chang),河東(dong)解良人(ren)(今山西運城解州),東(dong)漢末年(nian)(nian)投奔劉備,后(hou)(hou)在(zai)(zai)湖北當(dang)陽戰敗被殺(sha),且(qie)身首異處,相傳關(guan)(guan)(guan)羽(yu)被殺(sha)后(hou)(hou)托夢給湖北當(dang)陽玉(yu)(yu)泉(quan)(quan)寺(si)(si)(si)普(pu)凈(jing)大(da)(da)師(shi):“還(huan)(huan)我(wo)頭(tou)來,還(huan)(huan)我(wo)頭(tou)來”大(da)(da)師(shi)點化說,你過五(wu)關(guan)(guan)(guan)斬六(liu)將(jiang)(jiang),這些人(ren)的(de)(de)頭(tou)向誰去討還(huan)(huan)?關(guan)(guan)(guan)羽(yu)頓然覺(jue)悟,歸依空門,關(guan)(guan)(guan)羽(yu)是在(zai)(zai)宋(song)代(dai)以(yi)后(hou)(hou)才(cai)名(ming)(ming)聲大(da)(da)震(zhen),因(yin)其(qi)為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)“忠(zhong)孝義節(jie)”的(de)(de)楷(kai)模而屢受(shou)(shou)皇(huang)帝褒封,儒(ru)家(jia)尊(zun)其(qi)為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)“武(wu)圣(sheng)人(ren)”佛(fo)家(jia)尊(zun)其(qi)為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)“伽(jia)藍神”代(dai)價(jia)則(ze)尊(zun)其(qi)為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)“關(guan)(guan)(guan)圣(sheng)帝君(jun)”關(guan)(guan)(guan)公是唯一(yi)受(shou)(shou)到“儒(ru)釋道”三(san)(san)教共同尊(zun)崇的(de)(de)偶像(xiang),可(ke)以(yi)說關(guan)(guan)(guan)公成為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)神和以(yi)后(hou)(hou)的(de)(de)關(guan)(guan)(guan)公崇拜,和關(guan)(guan)(guan)公文(wen)化就(jiu)是從這里走出(chu)去的(de)(de)。漢建(jian)安年(nian)(nian)間,普(pu)凈(jing)禪(chan)(chan)(chan)師(shi)于此(ci)結茅(mao)為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)庵,梁宣帝敕旨建(jian)寺(si)(si)(si),初(chu)名(ming)(ming)覆船山寺(si)(si)(si)。隋開(kai)皇(huang)時,智(zhi)者(zhe)禪(chan)(chan)(chan)師(shi)建(jian)寺(si)(si)(si)三(san)(san)十六(liu)所,將(jiang)(jiang)玉(yu)(yu)泉(quan)(quan)、棲(qi)霞(xia)、靈臺、天(tian)臺并(bing)列為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)“天(tian)下四(si)絕(jue)”。唐(tang)貞觀(guan)中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)年(nian)(nian),僧人(ren)法(fa)真增建(jian)。宋(song)天(tian)西竺遺風禧(xi)末年(nian)(nian),明肅皇(huang)后(hou)(hou)重修,改(gai)為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)“景德禪(chan)(chan)(chan)寺(si)(si)(si)”。其(qi)規模“為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)樓(lou)者(zhe)九、為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)殿(dian)者(zhe)十八(ba)、三(san)(san)千七百僧舍”,“占(zhan)地(di)左五(wu)里、右五(wu)里;前后(hou)(hou)十里”,為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)“荊楚叢(cong)林之(zhi)冠”。現存主(zhu)要殿(dian)堂尚有天(tian)王(wang)殿(dian)、大(da)(da)雄寶(bao)殿(dian)、毗廬殿(dian)、上方殿(dian)、東(dong)堂、西堂、般舟(zhou)堂、藏經樓(lou)等。殿(dian)前有鑄于隋大(da)(da)業十一(yi)年(nian)(nian)重三(san)(san)千斤的(de)(de)鐵(tie)鑊(huo),還(huan)(huan)有元(yuan)代(dai)鐵(tie)釜、鐵(tie)鐘(zhong)。玉(yu)(yu)泉(quan)(quan)寺(si)(si)(si)在(zai)(zai)中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)國佛(fo)教史上具有重要地(di)位(wei)。隋朝時為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)天(tian)臺宗(zong)祖庭之(zhi)一(yi),智(zhi)者(zhe)大(da)(da)師(shi)在(zai)(zai)此(ci)宣講《法(fa)華玄(xuan)義》、《摩訶止觀(guan)》,首創(chuang)(chuang)天(tian)臺宗(zong)道場(chang);唐(tang)為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)禪(chan)(chan)(chan)宗(zong)北宗(zong)祖庭,弘景、神秀、普(pu)寂、一(yi)行(xing)等高(gao)僧在(zai)(zai)寺(si)(si)(si)創(chuang)(chuang)倡(chang)漸悟禪(chan)(chan)(chan)法(fa);宋(song)釋道源、宋(song)綬、宋(song)祁編撰《景德傳燈錄(lu)》于此(ci)寺(si)(si)(si);張九齡(ling)、李(li)白、白居(ju)易、孟浩然、元(yuan)稹等歷代(dai)文(wen)人(ren)墨客為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)之(zhi)留下許(xu)多詩詞、碑刻;中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)國關(guan)(guan)(guan)公文(wen)化也淵源于此(ci)。名(ming)(ming)山、高(gao)僧、英雄三(san)(san)位(wei)一(yi)體與(yu)玉(yu)(yu)泉(quan)(quan)古剎相得益彰。

歷史文化
漫(man)天林海覆蓋于玉泉寺、跑馬、紫(zi)(zi)(zi)蓋寺、郭場、香爐山(shan)(shan)、九山(shan)(shan)等(deng)六(liu)人景區。公園境(jing)內山(shan)(shan)巒連綿,氣(qi)勢雄渾(hun),林木(mu)毓秀,四季(ji)常青(qing)。植物種(zhong)類繁多,有(you)1200多年歷史的(de)唐代白果樹(shu),有(you)似蛟龍(long)盤旋昂頭、似寶塔巍(wei)然屹(yi)立的(de)百年九柳(即(ji)楓楊);有(you)花(hua)(hua)開(kai)上千瓣(ban)且(qie)雙蕊(rui)的(de)千瓣(ban)蓮(又稱并蒂蓮);還有(you)紫(zi)(zi)(zi)薇(wei)、紫(zi)(zi)(zi)荊、映山(shan)(shan)紅、黃楊、柏木(mu)、玉蘭、蠟(la)梅(mei)、紫(zi)(zi)(zi)玉蘭、桅(wei)子花(hua)(hua)、紫(zi)(zi)(zi)藤、杭州(zhou)榆、馬尾松、水杉、杉木(mu)等(deng)380多種(zhong)木(mu)本花(hua)(hua)卉、樹(shu)木(mu)。春(chun)天枝(zhi)葉(xie)茂盛,花(hua)(hua)開(kai)遍野;夏季(ji)綠樹(shu)成蔭,涼爽宜人;秋時紅黃交艷、盡染層林;冬(dong)季(ji)銀裝素(su)裹,流溪(xi)雪香,同時,公園內還生存著眾多的(de)珍禽異獸,游人攀(pan)緣山(shan)(shan)徑、遠可(ke)聽百鳥(niao)爭鳴(ming),林蟬高歌(ge);近(jin)可(ke)見(jian)群獸嬉戲(xi),林間覓(mi)食。
玉(yu)泉(quan)山是公園的主(zhu)峰,壓群峰而(er)獨秀(xiu),冠三楚而(er)馳(chi)名,素有(you)“三楚名山”和(he)“荊楚叢林之冠”的美稱。山上(shang)樹(shu)木(mu)四(si)季蔥(cong)綠(lv)、終年(nian)不凋,故(gu)(gu)又名"堆藍(lan)山",春夏之交山頂(ding)山腰常有(you)云霧(wu)蒸騰,若隱若現,宛若白(bai)紗飄舞,分外妖(yao)嬈。山下林木(mu)花(hua)卉千(qian)姿百態(tai),爭(zheng)奇斗艷。響水潭位于唐代白(bai)果樹(shu)旁,泉(quan)水流經此處(chu),瀉向坎下深潭,發出(chu)巨響,故(gu)(gu)名“響水潭”。
俯視(shi)峽(xia)中飛流(liu),便可飽賞佳景。潭(tan)面10米見方,兩岸綠蔭蔽(bi)日,中間一線透頂,藍(lan)天映人潭(tan)中,頗
為奇(qi)(qi)特,故又名“溪水湛天”。乳(ru)窟洞洞中(zhong)奇(qi)(qi)石呈玉(yu)色,懸乳(ru)如蠟(la)淚。據舊志(zhi)記載,乳(ru)窟洞中(zhong)多玉(yu)泉(quan)交(jiao)流,中(zhong)有蝙蝠(fu),大(da)如朗鴉,體白如雪,棲則倒(dao)懸,蓋飲(yin)乳(ru)水而長生。其邊處(chu)處(chu)有茗草羅牛(niu),枝葉如碧玉(yu)。公(gong)園內山(shan)山(shan)有古木,處(chu)處(chu)有奇(qi)(qi)洞,在(zai)1700多年(nian)(nian)(nian)的歷(li)(li)史長河(he)中(zhong),文(wen)人墨(mo)客如李白、孟浩然、元稹等留下(xia)贊(zan)美玉(yu)泉(quan)寺的優秀(xiu)詩篇(pian)500余首。玉(yu)泉(quan)寺始建(jian)于東漢末(mo)年(nian)(nian)(nian),距今有1700多年(nian)(nian)(nian)的歷(li)(li)史。東漢建(jian)安(an)三年(nian)(nian)(nian)(公(gong)元198年(nian)(nian)(nian)),普凈禪師游歷(li)(li)天下(xia)名山(shan)時,見玉(yu)泉(quan)山(shan)山(shan)清(qing)水秀(xiu),使在(zai)山(shan)麓結(jie)茅為庵(an)。
南朝時敕建覆船山寺(si)(si)(si)(即今玉泉(quan)寺(si)(si)(si)),隋文帝敕造玉泉(quan)寺(si)(si)(si)、經(jing)過多年的籌建,其建筑(zhu)之宏偉與浙(zhe)江(jiang)天(tian)臺的國清寺(si)(si)(si)、江(jiang)蘇(su)南京的棲霞寺(si)(si)(si)、山東(dong)長清的靈巖寺(si)(si)(si)并稱“天(tian)下叢林四絕”。
