福建林(lin)遠(yuan)圖以(yi)七十(shi)二路辟(pi)邪(xie)劍法(fa)稱雄武林(lin),創立(li)福威鏢局,馳騁江湖。遠(yuan)圖死(si)后,子孫無能,四方豪杰覬覦辟(pi)邪(xie)劍譜,紛至(zhi)沓(ta)來(lai)。總鏢頭林(lin)震(zhen)南(nan)一門被青(qing)城派(pai)屠(tu)戮殆盡。遺孤林(lin)平(ping)之拜投華山派(pai)掌(zhang)門君子劍岳不群門下,一心(xin)學(xue)藝報仇。
華山派長徒令(ling)狐沖自幼失怙(hu),與岳不群(qun)獨女岳靈珊(shan)青梅竹馬,情(qing)好(hao)甚(shen)篤。平(ping)之入門,靈珊(shan)乃(nai)移(yi)情(qing)于(yu)林。令(ling)狐失戀,又因(yin)豪放不羈,違反門規,被罰思(si)過(guo)崖面壁一載(zai),無意(yi)間得窺崖后暗(an)洞中石刻,盡悉(xi)五岳劍派劍術秘訣,后蒙(meng)華山劍宗(zong)前輩——隱士風清揚(yang)傳授(shou)獨孤九劍,從此劍術通(tong)神。
其時武林(lin)之中,既(ji)有正邪(xie)之判,復存門(men)戶(hu)之別,少林(lin)、武當、青城、五(wu)岳自詡正教與魔教(日月神教)冤冤相(xiang)報,誓不兩立。五(wu)岳劍(jian)(jian)派(pai)名雖一體,實(shi)存芥蒂。嵩山掌(zhang)門(men)左(zuo)冷禪(chan)野心勃勃,意欲吞并五(wu)岳,稱霸江湖,自恃盟主身份,凌駕(jia)四岳掌(zhang)門(men),挑撥華山劍(jian)(jian)宗爭奪(duo)掌(zhang)門(men)之位,岳不群原(yuan)屬(shu)氣宗,劍(jian)(jian)、氣二宗素不相(xiang)和,不群率本門(men)弟子外出避禍,遭左(zuo)道之士(shi)埋(mai)伏,俱被擒獲。賴令(ling)狐(hu)沖(chong)以(yi)獨孤劍(jian)(jian)法刺(ci)瞎對方十五(wu)人雙目,化險為夷,然岳不群從此見疑(yi)于令(ling)狐(hu)沖(chong)。
先是令(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)因行(xing)俠仗義(yi),舍(she)身(shen)救人(ren),身(shen)負重(zhong)傷(shang)(shang),旋經(jing)江湖怪(guai)人(ren)桃(tao)谷六仙(xian)濫施救冶,傷(shang)(shang)勢益重(zhong)。及岳不(bu)群(qun)等至洛(luo)(luo)陽與林(lin)平之(zhi)(zhi)外(wai)祖王元霸家(jia),令(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)沖因懷有(you)(you)笑傲(ao)江湖曲(qu)譜(pu)復見疑(yi)于(yu)(yu)元霸父子,以為(wei)曲(qu)譜(pu)即林(lin)家(jia)祖傳之(zhi)(zhi)“辟邪劍(jian)譜(pu)”。因曲(qu)譜(pu)深奧難(nan)解(jie),令(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)亦(yi)(yi)百口難(nan)辯,乃質(zhi)諸洛(luo)(luo)陽隱士綠竹(zhu)翁,并因而結(jie)識(shi)綠竹(zhu)之(zhi)(zhi)姑,鑒定確系(xi)曲(qu)譜(pu),釋眾之(zhi)(zhi)疑(yi)。綠竹(zhu)之(zhi)(zhi)姑同情(qing)令(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)遭遇,授以琴曲(qu)“清(qing)心普善(shan)咒(zhou)”,助其療傷(shang)(shang),令(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)于(yu)(yu)失(shi)戀(lian)遭嫉之(zhi)(zhi)余,得人(ren)眷顧,甚感(gan)欣慰(wei),臨去(qu)依(yi)依(yi)不(bu)舍(she),然始(shi)終(zhong)未睹其面,離洛(luo)(luo)赴閩,一路(lu)之(zhi)(zhi)上(shang),江湖左道幫(bang)派(pai),踵武(wu)相接(jie),饋贈奇(qi)珍秘藥,來助令(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)療傷(shang)(shang)。口稱令(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)公子,禮敬(jing)有(you)(you)加,唯置(zhi)岳不(bu)群(qun)于(yu)(yu)不(bu)顧。后于(yu)(yu)五霸岡聚(ju)眾數千,擄劫名(ming)醫,為(wei)令(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)診(zhen)治。令(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)既不(bu)明所以,岳不(bu)群(qun)更猜忌(ji)重(zhong)重(zhong),終(zhong)棄(qi)之(zhi)(zhi)而去(qu)。群(qun)豪至晚皆(jie)散(san),令(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)獨處岡上(shang),落(luo)拓無依(yi),百無聊賴。忽聞琴聲(sheng)出于(yu)(yu)草(cao)舍(she),知(zhi)綠竹(zhu)之(zhi)(zhi)姑亦(yi)(yi)在岡上(shang),心下竊(qie)喜。問(wen)答之(zhi)(zhi)際,少林(lin)派(pai)辛國(guo)梁(liang)等上(shang)岡搜查(cha)魔教余黨,令(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)力阻辛等入草(cao)棚凌欺綠竹(zhu)之(zhi)(zhi)姑,再受(shou)重(zhong)創。與姑下岡避難(nan),辛國(guo)梁(liang)等復來尋仇(chou),綠竹(zhu)之(zhi)(zhi)姑力殺四人(ren),亦(yi)(yi)受(shou)重(zhong)傷(shang)(shang)。令(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)負之(zhi)(zhi)落(luo)荒而走,及澗水倒映(ying)其面,始(shi)知(zhi)綠竹(zhu)之(zhi)(zhi)姑竟為(wei)妙(miao)齡少女,該女羞赦(she)不(bu)勝,自稱盈盈。經(jing)此(ci)變故,二人(ren)互(hu)生(sheng)情(qing)愫,然令(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)以其行(xing)事(shi)怪(guai)異,頗存疑(yi)惑。

獨行(xing)仙霞嶺,喬裝泉(quan)州參將吳(wu)天(tian)德,恰逢恒(heng)山(shan)弟(di)子遇魔教(jiao)埋伏,乃(nai)拔劍相助(zhu),擊退強敵。后(hou)(hou)于(yu)(yu)(yu)廿八(ba)鋪救(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)出(chu)被(bei)(bei)(bei)魔教(jiao)擄劫(jie)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)恒(heng)山(shan)女尼,領隊師太(tai)定靜苦戰(zhan)力(li)竭(jie)而亡。遺言囑(zhu)令(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)(hu)(hu)(hu)護送(song)門(men)下(xia)弟(di)子赴(fu)福(fu)建水月庵。令(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)(hu)(hu)(hu)遵囑(zhu)將群(qun)尼安(an)頓,即(ji)往福(fu)威鏢(biao)(biao)局(ju)尋師,見岳靈珊與(yu)(yu)林(lin)(lin)平之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)于(yu)(yu)(yu)鏢(biao)(biao)局(ju)查找辟(pi)邪劍譜(pu),被(bei)(bei)(bei)蒙面二(er)人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren)點倒,二(er)人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren)尋出(chu)一(yi)(yi)(yi)紅(hong)色袈裟,逾(yu)墻而出(chu)。令(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)(hu)(hu)(hu)尋蹤追趕,殺死二(er)人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren),奪回袈裟,因上有字跡,意必為(wei)辟(pi)邪劍譜(pu),急(ji)欲呈送(song)岳不(bu)(bu)群(qun),終以(yi)負傷昏(hun)倒于(yu)(yu)(yu)鏢(biao)(biao)局(ju)門(men)外。及(ji)蘇醒(xing),得(de)(de)見師父母(mu)及(ji)同(tong)門(men)兄弟(di),大(da)慰情懷,然(ran)(ran)(ran)(ran)(ran)(ran)袈裟已(yi)不(bu)(bu)見,遂被(bei)(bei)(bei)不(bu)(bu)群(qun)誣指(zhi)其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)偷竊辟(pi)邪劍譜(pu),刺傷林(lin)(lin)平之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),殺死師弟(di)英白羅,令(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)狐(hu)(hu)(hu)(hu)(hu)(hu)力(li)白其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)冤,不(bu)(bu)獲(huo)諒解。幾(ji)死于(yu)(yu)(yu)不(bu)(bu)群(qun)掌下(xia),賴師母(mu)佑護,逃離(li)鏢(biao)(biao)局(ju)。

下山(shan)(shan)途中,二人目(mu)睹林(lin)平(ping)(ping)(ping)(ping)之夫(fu)婦口角及平(ping)(ping)(ping)(ping)之以(yi)辟邪(xie)(xie)劍法屠戮青城派子弟之殘(can)酷(ku),不解林(lin)平(ping)(ping)(ping)(ping)之何(he)(he)(he)以(yi)亦能(neng)習(xi)練(lian)辟邪(xie)(xie)劍法,因(yin)尾隨其(qi)后(hou),復親聆平(ping)(ping)(ping)(ping)之述說岳(yue)不群如(ru)(ru)何(he)(he)(he)誘(you)其(qi)入(ru)門,如(ru)(ru)何(he)(he)(he)以(yi)女(nv)兒為(wei)釣餌,如(ru)(ru)何(he)(he)(he)攫取劍譜(pu)嫁禍令(ling)狐(hu)(hu)沖,如(ru)(ru)何(he)(he)(he)殺死英白羅(luo),砍傷平(ping)(ping)(ping)(ping)之以(yi)滅口,如(ru)(ru)何(he)(he)(he)自(zi)宮練(lian)劍掩人耳目(mu)種種陰謀險(xian)惡,令(ling)狐(hu)(hu)得(de)知,始(shi)(shi)恍然大悟。繼(ji)知平(ping)(ping)(ping)(ping)之以(yi)偶然之機(ji)緣得(de)見(jian)辟邪(xie)(xie)劍譜(pu)并自(zi)宮習(xi)劍以(yi)圖報復之始(shi)(shi)未嗣后(hou)。平(ping)(ping)(ping)(ping)之因(yin)雙(shuang)目(mu)已盲,欲投左冷(leng)禪(chan),為(wei)明心跡,刺(ci)死岳(yue)靈(ling)珊(shan),令(ling)狐(hu)(hu)與盈(ying)盈(ying)安葬靈(ling)珊(shan)。岳(yue)不群以(yi)華山(shan)(shan)思過崖洞內石刻武功秘訣誘(you)引諸派高手入(ru)觀,旋用巨石封洞,欲盡誅異己,令(ling)狐(hu)(hu)與盈(ying)盈(ying)亦陷洞中,頗歷兇險(xian),幾(ji)遭岳(yue)不群毒手,賴恒山(shan)(shan)女(nv)尼儀琳刺(ci)死岳(yue)不群,始(shi)(shi)得(de)脫困。任(ren)我行傾巢(chao)來攻,欲稱(cheng)霸五(wu)岳(yue),脅(xie)迫(po)令(ling)狐(hu)(hu)入(ru)教,令(ling)狐(hu)(hu)凜然不屈(qu)。五(wu)岳(yue)劍派以(yi)自(zi)相殘(can)殺,紛(fen)紛(fen)零落,任(ren)我行終(zhong)因(yin)心力交瘁而亡。令(ling)狐(hu)(hu)與盈(ying)盈(ying)終(zhong)成眷屬,正(zheng)邪(xie)(xie)雙(shuang)方(fang)亦因(yin)此(ci)化(hua)干(gan)戈為(wei)玉帛。
