莆(pu)田第五(wu)中(zhong)學(xue)創辦于1924年(nian)(nian),當時的社會(hui)賢達選(xuan)址于城(cheng)區中(zhong)心(今勝(sheng)利路中(zhong)段(duan))的四賢祠,秉賢風育子(zi)弟(di),興辦了莆(pu)田公學(xue),2014年(nian)(nian)11月12日為(wei)建校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)90周年(nian)(nian)校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)慶日。其后(hou)幾經更名,1999年(nian)(nian)秋季(ji)高、初(chu)中(zhong)分離(li)分設(she),高中(zhong)部喬遷(qian)至(zhi)梅山(shan)校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)區,校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)名沿用(yong)莆(pu)田第五(wu)中(zhong)學(xue);2005年(nian)(nian)3月學(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)被確認為(wei)福建省一級達標重點普通高中(zhong)。2011年(nian)(nian)7月學(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)搬遷(qian)至(zhi)新校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)區,現址位(wei)于市區鳳凰山(shan)(即南(nan)山(shan))之麓,南(nan)湖(hu)之濱,為(wei)莆(pu)田文脈所在(zai)。公元458年(nian)(nian),“南(nan)湖(hu)三先(xian)生”鄭露與鄭莊、鄭淑二(er)弟(di)在(zai)此地(di)筑“湖(hu)山(shan)書堂”,講學(xue)授徒,開(kai)啟莆(pu)仙地(di)域乃至(zhi)閩(min)南(nan)地(di)區教(jiao)育事業的發端。校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)園占地(di)面積(ji)208畝(mu),建筑面積(ji)86681M2,校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)園布局(ju)合理,規劃(hua)清晰,各樓結構完整,功(gong)能齊全,設(she)備設(she)施(shi)先(xian)進。
