集歌唱外貌(mao)于一(yi)身(shen)的The Supremes，50年代中期(qi)成(cheng)軍之初，原(yuan)名為Primettes，成(cheng)員包含Diana Ross、Mary Wilson、Florence Ballard及(ji)Barbara Martin，60年在Lupine唱片(pian)發(fa)行一(yi)張單(dan)曲(qu)后(hou)，被(bei)Motown創(chuang)始人(ren)Berry Gordy招攬旗下(xia)(xia)。剛(gang)開始，她們(men)只是合音天使，后(hou)來更換(huan)團(tuan)(tuan)名成(cheng)The Supremes，才獨立(li)出來錄(lu)制(zhi)專輯，并套換(huan)時尚亮(liang)眼(yan)裝扮，將熱(re)情、歡愉的獨特魅力展現在活(huo)潑流暢的曲(qu)目中，這時Barbara正式離團(tuan)(tuan)，剩(sheng)下(xia)(xia)The Supremes三人(ren)組合的標準機(ji)制(zhi)，Diana Ross也(ye)成(cheng)為團(tuan)(tuan)中主唱及(ji)靈魂核心。
1959年，15歲的Diana Ross與好(hao)友(you)Florence Ballard、Mary Wilson以及Betty McGlown組成一個組合：The Primes。
1960年，Betty McGlown離(li)隊，Barbara Martin加入The Primes
1961年，The Primes簽約摩城唱片，正式改(gai)名The Supremes。

1965年，專輯《More Hits by The Supremes》中的兩首(shou)歌(ge)曲《Stop! In the Name of Love》與(yu)《Back in My Arms Again》再度成(cheng)為全美(mei)冠軍單曲。
1965年，專輯《I Hear a Symphony》中的(de)(de)同名單(dan)曲《I Hear a Symphony》成為The Supremes的(de)(de)第6首全美冠軍(jun)單(dan)曲。
1966年(nian)，專輯《The Supremes A' Go-Go》成為(wei)The Supremes的第一張(zhang)全美(mei)冠軍(jun)專輯，專輯中的單曲《You Can't Hurry Love》成為(wei)Supremes的第7首全美(mei)冠軍(jun)單曲。
1966年，專輯《The Supremes Sing Holland–Dozier–Holland》中的歌曲《You Keep Me Hangin' On》成為Supremes的第(di)8首全美(mei)冠軍單(dan)曲。
1967年，專(zhuan)輯《The Supremes Sing Holland–Dozier–Holland》中的歌(ge)曲《Love Is Here and Now You're Gone》成為(wei)Supremes的第9首全美冠軍單曲。
1967年，精選集《Greatest Hits》登(deng)上了英美兩國冠(guan)軍寶座(zuo)，專輯中的歌曲《The Happening》成為Supremes的第10首全美冠(guan)軍單曲。
1967年Motown總裁Berry Gordy將The Supremes更名為Diana Ross & the Supremes，并招募(mu)新成員Cindy Birdsong取(qu)代了(le)離隊的(de)Florence Ballard的(de)位置。

1970年，The Supremes的最后一(yi)首冠軍歌曲《Someday We'll Be Together》宣告了(le)Diana Ross離隊(dui)，新(xin)成員(yuan)Jean Terrell加(jia)入樂隊(dui)，隨后樂隊(dui)名才改(gai)回The Supremes。
