集歌唱外貌(mao)于一身的(de)The Supremes，50年代中(zhong)期成(cheng)(cheng)軍之(zhi)初，原名(ming)為Primettes，成(cheng)(cheng)員包含Diana Ross、Mary Wilson、Florence Ballard及Barbara Martin，60年在(zai)Lupine唱片發行一張單曲后，被Motown創始人Berry Gordy招攬旗(qi)下。剛開始，她們只是(shi)合音天使，后來更換團名(ming)成(cheng)(cheng)The Supremes，才獨立出來錄制專輯(ji)，并(bing)套(tao)換時(shi)尚亮眼裝扮，將熱(re)情、歡(huan)愉的(de)獨特魅(mei)力展(zhan)現在(zai)活潑流暢(chang)的(de)曲目中(zhong)，這時(shi)Barbara正式離團，剩下The Supremes三人組(zu)合的(de)標(biao)準機制，Diana Ross也成(cheng)(cheng)為團中(zhong)主唱及靈(ling)魂核心。
1959年，15歲的(de)Diana Ross與好友Florence Ballard、Mary Wilson以(yi)及(ji)Betty McGlown組成一(yi)個組合(he)：The Primes。
1960年，Betty McGlown離隊，Barbara Martin加入The Primes

1965年，專輯《More Hits by The Supremes》中的兩首歌曲(qu)《Stop! In the Name of Love》與《Back in My Arms Again》再(zai)度成為全(quan)美冠(guan)軍(jun)單曲(qu)。
1965年，專輯(ji)《I Hear a Symphony》中的同名單曲《I Hear a Symphony》成為The Supremes的第(di)6首全美冠軍單曲。
1966年(nian)，專(zhuan)輯《The Supremes A' Go-Go》成(cheng)為(wei)The Supremes的(de)(de)第一(yi)張全(quan)美冠(guan)軍(jun)專(zhuan)輯，專(zhuan)輯中的(de)(de)單曲《You Can't Hurry Love》成(cheng)為(wei)Supremes的(de)(de)第7首全(quan)美冠(guan)軍(jun)單曲。
1966年，專輯《The Supremes Sing Holland–Dozier–Holland》中的歌曲(qu)《You Keep Me Hangin' On》成為Supremes的第8首全美冠軍(jun)單曲(qu)。
1967年，專輯《The Supremes Sing Holland–Dozier–Holland》中的(de)歌曲《Love Is Here and Now You're Gone》成為(wei)Supremes的(de)第9首全美冠(guan)軍單曲。
1967年，精選集《Greatest Hits》登上了(le)英美兩國冠軍寶(bao)座，專輯中(zhong)的歌曲《The Happening》成為(wei)Supremes的第10首全美冠軍單曲。
1967年Motown總裁Berry Gordy將The Supremes更名為Diana Ross & the Supremes，并招募新成員Cindy Birdsong取代了離隊的Florence Ballard的位置。
1968年，專(zhuan)輯《Love Child》中的(de)同名單(dan)曲再(zai)度登頂美國公告牌單(dan)曲榜，成為The Supremes的(de)第11首(shou)全美冠軍單(dan)曲。
1970年，The Supremes的最(zui)后一(yi)首冠(guan)軍歌曲《Someday We'll Be Together》宣告了Diana Ross離隊，新成員Jean Terrell加入樂隊，隨后樂隊名才改回The Supremes。

1988年，The Supremes入選搖滾名人堂。
