集歌唱外貌于一(yi)身的(de)The Supremes，50年代(dai)中(zhong)期成(cheng)軍之(zhi)初(chu)，原名為Primettes，成(cheng)員包含Diana Ross、Mary Wilson、Florence Ballard及(ji)Barbara Martin，60年在Lupine唱片發行一(yi)張單曲后(hou)，被Motown創始人(ren)Berry Gordy招攬旗下。剛(gang)開始，她們只是合(he)(he)音天使，后(hou)來更換(huan)團名成(cheng)The Supremes，才(cai)獨立(li)出來錄制專輯，并套換(huan)時(shi)尚亮眼裝扮，將(jiang)熱情、歡愉的(de)獨特(te)魅力展現在活潑流暢的(de)曲目(mu)中(zhong)，這時(shi)Barbara正式離團，剩下The Supremes三人(ren)組合(he)(he)的(de)標準機(ji)制，Diana Ross也(ye)成(cheng)為團中(zhong)主(zhu)唱及(ji)靈魂核心。
1959年，15歲的Diana Ross與好友Florence Ballard、Mary Wilson以及Betty McGlown組(zu)成一個組(zu)合：The Primes。
1960年，Betty McGlown離隊，Barbara Martin加入The Primes
1961年，The Primes簽約摩城(cheng)唱片(pian)，正式改名The Supremes。

1965年，專(zhuan)輯《I Hear a Symphony》中的同名(ming)單曲《I Hear a Symphony》成為(wei)The Supremes的第6首全美冠軍(jun)單曲。
1966年，專輯(ji)(ji)《The Supremes A' Go-Go》成(cheng)為The Supremes的第(di)一張全美(mei)冠(guan)軍專輯(ji)(ji)，專輯(ji)(ji)中(zhong)的單(dan)曲《You Can't Hurry Love》成(cheng)為Supremes的第(di)7首(shou)全美(mei)冠(guan)軍單(dan)曲。
1966年，專(zhuan)輯《The Supremes Sing Holland–Dozier–Holland》中的(de)歌(ge)曲(qu)《You Keep Me Hangin' On》成為Supremes的(de)第8首全美冠軍單曲(qu)。
1967年(nian)，專輯《The Supremes Sing Holland–Dozier–Holland》中的歌(ge)曲(qu)《Love Is Here and Now You're Gone》成(cheng)為Supremes的第9首全美冠軍單曲(qu)。
1967年(nian)，精選(xuan)集(ji)《Greatest Hits》登(deng)上了英(ying)美(mei)兩國冠軍(jun)寶座，專(zhuan)輯中的歌曲(qu)《The Happening》成為Supremes的第10首全美(mei)冠軍(jun)單曲(qu)。
1967年Motown總(zong)裁Berry Gordy將(jiang)The Supremes更名為(wei)Diana Ross & the Supremes，并招募新成員Cindy Birdsong取代了(le)離隊的Florence Ballard的位置。
1968年，專輯(ji)《Love Child》中的同名單曲再度登(deng)頂美國公告(gao)牌單曲榜，成為The Supremes的第11首全美冠(guan)軍單曲。
1970年，The Supremes的最后(hou)一首冠軍歌曲(qu)《Someday We'll Be Together》宣告了Diana Ross離隊，新(xin)成(cheng)員Jean Terrell加入樂隊，隨(sui)后(hou)樂隊名才改回The Supremes。
1972年，Lynda Laurence加入樂(le)隊。
1973年(nian)，成員Jean Terrell與Lynda Laurence離(li)隊，同時Scherrie Payne加入樂(le)隊。
1976年，成員Cindy Birdsong離隊。
