集歌唱(chang)外貌于一(yi)身(shen)的(de)(de)(de)The Supremes，50年代中期成軍(jun)之(zhi)初，原(yuan)名(ming)為Primettes，成員(yuan)包含Diana Ross、Mary Wilson、Florence Ballard及(ji)Barbara Martin，60年在(zai)Lupine唱(chang)片發行一(yi)張單曲(qu)后，被Motown創始人Berry Gordy招(zhao)攬旗下(xia)。剛開始，她們(men)只是合音(yin)天使，后來更(geng)換團(tuan)名(ming)成The Supremes，才獨(du)立出來錄制專輯(ji)，并套換時尚(shang)亮眼裝扮，將熱情(qing)、歡愉(yu)的(de)(de)(de)獨(du)特魅力展(zhan)現在(zai)活潑流暢的(de)(de)(de)曲(qu)目中，這時Barbara正式離團(tuan)，剩下(xia)The Supremes三(san)人組合的(de)(de)(de)標準(zhun)機制，Diana Ross也(ye)成為團(tuan)中主(zhu)唱(chang)及(ji)靈魂核心。
1959年，15歲的Diana Ross與好友(you)Florence Ballard、Mary Wilson以(yi)及Betty McGlown組成一個組合：The Primes。
1960年，Betty McGlown離隊，Barbara Martin加入(ru)The Primes
1961年，The Primes簽約摩城唱片，正式改名The Supremes。

1965年(nian)，專輯《More Hits by The Supremes》中的兩(liang)首歌曲(qu)《Stop! In the Name of Love》與《Back in My Arms Again》再度成為全美(mei)冠(guan)軍單曲(qu)。
1965年(nian)，專輯《I Hear a Symphony》中的(de)同名(ming)單曲《I Hear a Symphony》成為The Supremes的(de)第6首全美冠軍單曲。
1966年，專輯《The Supremes A' Go-Go》成為(wei)The Supremes的第一張全(quan)美冠(guan)軍(jun)專輯，專輯中的單曲(qu)《You Can't Hurry Love》成為(wei)Supremes的第7首全(quan)美冠(guan)軍(jun)單曲(qu)。
1966年(nian)，專輯《The Supremes Sing Holland–Dozier–Holland》中的(de)歌曲《You Keep Me Hangin' On》成(cheng)為Supremes的(de)第(di)8首全美冠軍單曲。
1967年(nian)，專輯《The Supremes Sing Holland–Dozier–Holland》中的歌曲《Love Is Here and Now You're Gone》成(cheng)為(wei)Supremes的第9首(shou)全美冠軍單曲。
1967年，精(jing)選集《Greatest Hits》登(deng)上了英美兩國冠軍(jun)寶座，專輯中的歌曲(qu)《The Happening》成為Supremes的第10首全美冠軍(jun)單曲(qu)。
1967年(nian)Motown總裁(cai)Berry Gordy將The Supremes更(geng)名為Diana Ross & the Supremes，并(bing)招募新(xin)成員Cindy Birdsong取代(dai)了離(li)隊的Florence Ballard的位(wei)置。
1968年，專輯《Love Child》中的同名單(dan)曲(qu)再度登頂美(mei)國公告牌單(dan)曲(qu)榜，成為The Supremes的第11首全美(mei)冠軍單(dan)曲(qu)。
1970年，The Supremes的最后一首冠軍(jun)歌曲《Someday We'll Be Together》宣告了Diana Ross離隊，新成員Jean Terrell加入樂(le)隊，隨后樂(le)隊名才改回The Supremes。
1972年，Lynda Laurence加入樂隊。
