顏希深自幼受何氏教(jiao)育,聰穎過人,器宇不凡。任太原府同(tong)知時,適逢乾(qian)隆(long)皇帝(di)駕幸(xing)五臺山,顏希深奉旨辦理行營事(shi)物,以(yi)毫(hao)不擾(rao)民受到乾(qian)隆(long)稱贊(zan)。

《創建試院碑記》之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)后,民國(guo)(guo)十(shi)八(ba)年鉛印本(ben)《重(zhong)修(xiu)泰(tai)(tai)(tai)安縣志?藝文(wen)志選著》又載(zai)顏希深(shen)作(zuo)《林(lin)(lin)(lin)放(fang)(fang)(fang)(fang)故里(li)(li)(li)考》一文(wen)。林(lin)(lin)(lin)放(fang)(fang)(fang)(fang),字(zi)子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)邱,春(chun)秋(qiu)魯(lu)(lu)(lu)人(ren),為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)孔(kong)(kong)(kong)(kong)子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)弟子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi),因向孔(kong)(kong)(kong)(kong)子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)問(wen)(wen)“禮(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)本(ben)”而載(zai)《論(lun)語(yu)?八(ba)佾(yì,古時(shi)樂舞的(de)(de)(de)行(xing)列)》。林(lin)(lin)(lin)放(fang)(fang)(fang)(fang)是殷代忠臣(chen)比(bi)干的(de)(de)(de)后裔(yi)。殷紂王無(wu)道(dao),荒淫暴虐。比(bi)干秉(bing)忠直諫,為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)此觸怒紂王,被(bei)剖(pou)心(xin)殺害,其(qi)子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)堅,逃(tao)至泰(tai)(tai)(tai)安“城東南百八(ba)十(shi)里(li)(li)(li)”放(fang)(fang)(fang)(fang)城鎮(zhen)(現(xian)屬泰(tai)(tai)(tai)安所(suo)轄縣級市(shi)新(xin)泰(tai)(tai)(tai))北部(bu)的(de)(de)(de)長(chang)林(lin)(lin)(lin)山(shan)(shan)避難,周(zhou)武王克商,賜姓林(lin)(lin)(lin)氏(shi)(shi)。林(lin)(lin)(lin)放(fang)(fang)(fang)(fang)一生(sheng)(sheng)致力(li)于(yu)(yu)(yu)(yu)禮(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)的(de)(de)(de)研究(jiu)(jiu)。《論(lun)語(yu)?八(ba)佾》載(zai):“林(lin)(lin)(lin)放(fang)(fang)(fang)(fang)問(wen)(wen)禮(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)本(ben)。子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)曰(yue):大(da)哉(zai)問(wen)(wen)!禮(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)(li),與(yu)(yu)(yu)其(qi)奢也(ye),寧(ning)儉;喪,與(yu)(yu)(yu)其(qi)易也(ye),寧(ning)戚。”這(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)段(duan)話的(de)(de)(de)意(yi)(yi)思(si)是說(shuo),林(lin)(lin)(lin)放(fang)(fang)(fang)(fang)問(wen)(wen)孔(kong)(kong)(kong)(kong)子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)禮(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)的(de)(de)(de)本(ben)質(zhi)是什么,孔(kong)(kong)(kong)(kong)子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)聽到有(you)學(xue)生(sheng)(sheng)提(ti)出這(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)樣(yang)的(de)(de)(de)問(wen)(wen)題非(fei)常(chang)高(gao)興,就(jiu)(jiu)說(shuo):“你(ni)問(wen)(wen)了一個(ge)意(yi)(yi)義十(shi)分(fen)重(zhong)大(da)的(de)(de)(de)問(wen)(wen)題!就(jiu)(jiu)一般的(de)(de)(de)禮(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)數來說(shuo)(逢(feng)年過(guo)節(jie)等),與(yu)(yu)(yu)其(qi)過(guo)分(fen)耗(hao)費(意(yi)(yi)思(si)是主要(yao)(yao)的(de)(de)(de),送重(zhong)禮(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)容易讓人(ren)懷(huai)疑另有(you)所(suo)圖(tu)),寧(ning)可簡(jian)單節(jie)約(yue)(有(you)心(xin)就(jiu)(jiu)行(xing)了,禮(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)品本(ben)身是次要(yao)(yao)的(de)(de)(de));就(jiu)(jiu)比(bi)較(jiao)重(zhong)要(yao)(yao)的(de)(de)(de)喪禮(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)來說(shuo),與(yu)(yu)(yu)其(qi)在(zai)(zai)(zai)表面上(shang)講究(jiu)(jiu)繁(fan)文(wen)縟節(jie),不(bu)如在(zai)(zai)(zai)內(nei)心(xin)里(li)(li)(li)真誠地沉痛哀(ai)悼。”朱熹(xi)《論(lun)語(yu)集注》解釋(shi)這(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)段(duan)話時(shi),認(ren)為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)林(lin)(lin)(lin)放(fang)(fang)(fang)(fang)“見世之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)禮(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)者,專事繁(fan)文(wen),而疑其(qi)本(ben)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)不(bu)在(zai)(zai)(zai)是也(ye),故以(yi)為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)問(wen)(wen)。孔(kong)(kong)(kong)(kong)子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)以(yi)時(shi)方逐(zhu)末而放(fang)(fang)(fang)(fang)獨有(you)志于(yu)(yu)(yu)(yu)本(ben),故大(da)其(qi)問(wen)(wen)”。孔(kong)(kong)(kong)(kong)子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)說(shuo)這(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)段(duan)話時(shi),正是奴隸制崩潰的(de)(de)(de)時(shi)代,即使魯(lu)(lu)(lu)國(guo)(guo)也(ye)發生(sheng)(sheng)了不(bu)尊“周(zhou)禮(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)”的(de)(de)(de)現(xian)象。如,根據“周(zhou)禮(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)”的(de)(de)(de)規定,天(tian)子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)才有(you)祭掃全國(guo)(guo)知名大(da)山(shan)(shan)的(de)(de)(de)資格(ge),諸侯(hou)只(zhi)有(you)在(zai)(zai)(zai)自己轄區(qu)內(nei)祭掃小丘的(de)(de)(de)資格(ge),但(dan)是季(ji)孫氏(shi)(shi)卻到泰(tai)(tai)(tai)山(shan)(shan)上(shang)去進行(xing)祭掃。面對魯(lu)(lu)(lu)國(guo)(guo)當(dang)時(shi)這(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)種禮(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)(li)崩樂壞的(de)(de)(de)時(shi)政(zheng),孔(kong)(kong)(kong)(kong)子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)憂(you)心(xin)如焚(fen)。《論(lun)語(yu)?八(ba)佾》又載(zai):“季(ji)氏(shi)(shi)旅于(yu)(yu)(yu)(yu)泰(tai)(tai)(tai)山(shan)(shan)。子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)謂(wei)冉(ran)(ran)有(you)曰(yue):女(nv)(汝)弗(fu)能(neng)(neng)救(jiu)與(yu)(yu)(yu)?對曰(yue):不(bu)能(neng)(neng)。子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)曰(yue):嗚呼!曾(ceng)謂(wei)泰(tai)(tai)(tai)山(shan)(shan),不(bu)如林(lin)(lin)(lin)放(fang)(fang)(fang)(fang)乎?”季(ji)孫氏(shi)(shi)是當(dang)時(shi)執掌(zhang)魯(lu)(lu)(lu)國(guo)(guo)朝政(zheng)的(de)(de)(de)三大(da)權門之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)一,(孟孫氏(shi)(shi)、叔(shu)孫氏(shi)(shi)、季(ji)孫氏(shi)(shi)三家(jia)世卿,因為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)是魯(lu)(lu)(lu)桓(huan)(huán,音環)公的(de)(de)(de)三個(ge)孫子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)故稱“三桓(huan)”,當(dang)時(shi)的(de)(de)(de)魯(lu)(lu)(lu)國(guo)(guo)政(zheng)權實際掌(zhang)握在(zai)(zai)(zai)他(ta)們手中,而“三桓(huan)”的(de)(de)(de)一些家(jia)臣(chen)又在(zai)(zai)(zai)不(bu)同程度上(shang)控(kong)制著“三桓(huan)”),冉(ran)(ran)有(you)是孔(kong)(kong)(kong)(kong)子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)的(de)(de)(de)學(xue)生(sheng)(sheng),時(shi)為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)季(ji)氏(shi)(shi)宰。這(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)段(duan)話的(de)(de)(de)意(yi)(yi)思(si)是,季(ji)氏(shi)(shi)要(yao)(yao)去祭祀泰(tai)(tai)(tai)山(shan)(shan),孔(kong)(kong)(kong)(kong)子(zi)(zi)(zi)(zi)對時(shi)為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)季(ji)氏(shi)(shi)家(jia)總管的(de)(de)(de)學(xue)生(sheng)(sheng)冉(ran)(ran)有(you)說(shuo):“你(ni)不(bu)能(neng)(neng)勸阻(zu)他(ta)不(bu)要(yao)(yao)前去,從而挽救(jiu)其(qi)陷于(yu)(yu)(yu)(yu)僭(jian)越(yue)(超(chao)越(yue)本(ben)分(fen)。僭(jian)jiàn,音見;非(fei)法(fa)越(yue)權)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)罪(zui)嗎?”冉(ran)(ran)有(you)回答說(shuo):“不(bu)能(neng)(neng)。”孔(kong)(kong)( 《創建試(shi)院碑記》字里行(xing)間反映(ying)出顏(yan)希(xi)深一意(yi)興利(li)除弊、教養(yang)(yang)斯民(min)的(de)循吏作風,以及對百(bai)姓(xing)負責(ze)、對歷史負責(ze)的(de)治政態度;《林(lin)放故里考》字里行(xing)間反映(ying)出顏(yan)希(xi)深博(bo)覽群書、窮究(jiu)經典的(de)文化(hua)修養(yang)(yang),以及躬(gong)行(xing)實踐、格物致知的(de)治學(xue)方法。顏(yan)希(xi)深既勤于(yu)政務處理,又(you)潛(qian)心學(xue)術研究(jiu),確有(you)古代士大夫之風范。
