卞壸(kǔn)(281-328年),字望之(zhi),濟陰(yin)郡冤句縣(xian)(今山東省菏澤市卞莊)人。東晉(jin)時期(qi)名(ming)臣、書法(fa)家(jia),中書令卞粹(cui)之(zhi)子。
少有清名,不應朝(chao)命(ming)。永嘉年(nian)間,卞壸出(chu)(chu)(chu)(chu)任(ren)(ren)著作郎(lang),襲封(feng)成陽(yang)縣公。永嘉之(zhi)亂(luan)后,投靠徐州刺(ci)史裴盾,出(chu)(chu)(chu)(chu)任(ren)(ren)廣陵相。投靠安(an)東將軍司(si)馬(ma)睿,出(chu)(chu)(chu)(chu)任(ren)(ren)丞相從事中(zhong)郎(lang)。東晉(jin)(jin)建(jian)(jian)立(li)后,出(chu)(chu)(chu)(chu)任(ren)(ren)太子中(zhong)庶子、散騎常侍,教導太子司(si)馬(ma)紹。晉(jin)(jin)明帝即(ji)位(wei),遷吏部尚書。平定王敦之(zhi)亂(luan),受(shou)封(feng)建(jian)(jian)興縣公,出(chu)(chu)(chu)(chu)任(ren)(ren)領軍將軍,選(xuan)為顧命(ming)大臣。晉(jin)(jin)成帝登位(wei)后,出(chu)(chu)(chu)(chu)任(ren)(ren)尚書令,聯合外戚庾亮共掌機要。禮法自居,糾(jiu)正當(dang)世,不畏強(qiang)權。咸和三年(nian)(328年(nian)),帶兵平定蘇峻叛亂(luan),以身殉國,獲贈侍中(zhong)、驃騎將軍,開(kai)府(fu)儀同三司(si),謚(shi)號忠貞,葬于南京(jing)朝(chao)天宮西側。
晉卞忠(zhong)貞公父(fu)子三仁英勇(yong)就(jiu)義,演繹了(le)中(zhong)華民(min)族“忠(zhong)孝(xiao)貞”全(quan)節的(de)家(jia)(jia)(jia)族忠(zhong)烈史(shi)。歷代(dai)受到人(ren)(ren)們的(de)敬仰、尊崇(chong)。卞忠(zhong)貞公父(fu)子是愛國主義、民(min)族精神的(de)優秀代(dai)表人(ren)(ren)物,是愛國主義家(jia)(jia)(jia)族精神的(de)千古(gu)典(dian)范。卞壸(kun)后裔秉承“忠(zhong)孝(xiao)傳家(jia)(jia)(jia)”的(de)家(jia)(jia)(jia)族遺風(feng),將家(jia)(jia)(jia)族堂(tang)號為“忠(zhong)貞(孝(xiao))堂(tang)”,成(cheng)為歷史(shi)上以忠(zhong)孝(xiao)責(ze)任的(de)價(jia)值信仰,培育“忠(zhong)臣孝(xiao)子”的(de)“忠(zhong)貞世家(jia)(jia)(jia)”。
卞(bian)(bian)壸(kun)[kǔn]出身官宦之家,祖父卞(bian)(bian)統曾任(ren)瑯邪內(nei)史,父親卞(bian)(bian)粹兄(xiong)弟(di)六人,“并登(deng)宰府”,世(shi)稱“卞(bian)(bian)氏六龍”。
卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸(kun)成年時已有名譽,得司(si)兗二州和齊王司(si)馬冏辟(pi)命(ming),但卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸(kun)都(dou)(dou)不應命(ming)。后父(fu)親(qin)卞(bian)(bian)(bian)粹被長沙王司(si)馬乂所殺,卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸(kun)回鄉。晉(jin)懷帝永嘉(jia)年間(jian),卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸(kun)出任著(zhu)作郎,并(bing)承襲父(fu)親(qin)成陽公(gong)的爵位。后來征(zheng)東將軍周馥請卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸(kun)為從事中郎,但不應命(ming)。永嘉(jia)五年(311年)發(fa)生永嘉(jia)之(zhi)亂,都(dou)(dou)城洛陽被前(qian)趙所攻破(po),晉(jin)懷帝被擄。卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸(kun)投靠時任徐州刺(ci)史的妻兄裴(pei)盾(dun)。裴(pei)盾(dun)于(yu)是讓(rang)卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸(kun)代理廣(guang)陵相。
建武二(er)年(nian)(公元318年(nian)),司(si)(si)馬睿在(zai)建鄴建立基地,召(zhao)卞壸為(wei)(wei)從事中(zhong)郎,委以官員(yuan)選拔之責,深受寵(chong)信(xin)。后(hou)出(chu)任東中(zhong)郎將司(si)(si)馬紹(shao)(即后(hou)來的晉明帝)的長史。后(hou)因繼母死而離職服喪(sang)。及后(hou)當成為(wei)(wei)晉王世(shi)子的司(si)(si)馬紹(shao)的老師。
東晉建立后(hou)(hou),任太子中庶子,后(hou)(hou)轉散騎常侍(shi),侍(shi)講東宮。后(hou)(hou)又先后(hou)(hou)擔任太子詹事、御(yu)史中丞等職。卞壸前后(hou)(hou)居師佐之(zhi)位,盡匡輔之(zhi)節,頗為王(wang)公大(da)臣敬(jing)畏。
太寧元(yuan)年(nian)(323年(nian)),晉明帝即位,升為吏部尚書。
太寧二(er)年(324年),王敦(dun)意圖奪位(wei)而(er)再次起兵,但因病重而(er)交由兄長(chang)王含(han)等人領軍(jun),卞壸(kun)加中軍(jun)將(jiang)軍(jun)防(fang)備王敦(dun)。及后叛亂(luan)平(ping)定,卞壸(kun)因功(gong)封建興縣(xian)公,不久遷任領軍(jun)將(jiang)軍(jun)。
太(tai)寧三年(325年),明帝(di)病重,卞壸與司徒王(wang)導、車(che)騎(qi)將(jiang)軍(jun)(jun)(jun)郗鑒、丹陽(yang)尹溫嶠、護軍(jun)(jun)(jun)將(jiang)軍(jun)(jun)(jun)庾(yu)亮(liang)及領(ling)軍(jun)(jun)(jun)將(jiang)軍(jun)(jun)(jun)陸曄一同遺詔(zhao)輔助太(tai)子,任顧命(ming)大臣,并(bing)任右將(jiang)軍(jun)(jun)(jun),加給(gei)事中、尚書令。成帝(di)登位后,他與庾(yu)亮(liang)共(gong)掌機(ji)要。
卞(bian)(bian)壸為(wei)人(ren)剛(gang)正不(bu)阿,不(bu)畏權貴,維護朝廷(ting)綱紀不(bu)遺余力。晉成(cheng)(cheng)帝(di)即(ji)位舉(ju)行(xing)登基大典(dian)那天(tian),元老重臣王(wang)(wang)(wang)導(dao)竟以(yi)病缺席。卞(bian)(bian)壸在朝廷(ting)上(shang)嚴肅地說(shuo):“王(wang)(wang)(wang)公,社稷之(zhi)臣邪!大行(xing)在殯,嗣皇未(wei)立,寧是人(ren)臣辭疾(ji)(ji)之(zhi)時!”王(wang)(wang)(wang)導(dao)聽說(shuo)后(hou)(hou)(hou)連(lian)忙帶病趕來。皇太(tai)后(hou)(hou)(hou)臨朝,卞(bian)(bian)壸與庚亮(liang)(liang)(liang)值班宮中,共參機(ji)要。朝廷(ting)下令召南陽樂(le)謨(mo)為(wei)郡中丞(cheng),潁川庾(yu)怡為(wei)廷(ting)尉評。但二(er)人(ren)都強調父(fu)命,拒不(bu)赴任(ren)。卞(bian)(bian)壸當(dang)即(ji)奏稟太(tai)后(hou)(hou)(hou),其中提到:“如(ru)此則先圣之(zhi)言(yan)廢,王(wang)(wang)(wang)教之(zhi)訓塞,君(jun)臣之(zhi)道散,上(shang)下之(zhi)化替矣。樂(le)廣(謨(mo)之(zhi)父(fu))以(yi)平夷(yi)稱,庾(yu)珉(怡之(zhi)父(fu))以(yi)忠(zhong)篤(du)顯(xian),受寵圣世(shi),身非已(yi)有(you),況及(ji)后(hou)(hou)(hou)世(shi)而可(ke)專哉!”由(you)于卞(bian)(bian)壸的奏章(zhang)很有(you)說(shuo)服力,因而朝議(yi)一(yi)致(zhi)贊成(cheng)(cheng)。樂(le)謨(mo)、庾(yu)怡不(bu)得已(yi),只好上(shang)任(ren)。此后(hou)(hou)(hou),凡朝廷(ting)有(you)命,不(bu)得以(yi)私(si)害公,不(bu)得以(yi)任(ren)何借(jie)口推延,遂(sui)形(xing)成(cheng)(cheng)了(le)一(yi)條永(yong)久性的制度。當(dang)時,王(wang)(wang)(wang)導(dao)與庾(yu)亮(liang)(liang)(liang)不(bu)和(he),庾(yu)亮(liang)(liang)(liang)掌權,王(wang)(wang)(wang)導(dao)就稱疾(ji)(ji)不(bu)上(shang)朝。一(yi)次(ci)王(wang)(wang)(wang)導(dao)不(bu)上(shang)朝,卻(que)私(si)下為(wei)車騎(qi)將(jiang)軍郗鑒(jian)送(song)行(xing)。卞(bian)(bian)壸得知,毫不(bu)顧忌王(wang)(wang)(wang)導(dao)的權勢和(he)情面(mian),上(shang)奏導(dao)“虧法從私(si),無大臣之(zhi)節”;御史中丞(cheng)鐘雅玩(wan)忽職(zhi)守,不(bu)按王(wang)(wang)(wang)典(dian)辦事,二(er)人(ren)應該一(yi)塊免官。雖(sui)然皇帝(di)將(jiang)奏章(zhang)壓(ya)下,未(wei)予(yu)處理(li),但已(yi)引起朝野震肅。
卞壸兢兢業業勤于吏事,以匡風(feng)正俗為已任,不肯隨波(bo)逐流。有人說他(ta):“卿恒無閑(xian)泰,常(chang)如含瓦石(shi),不亦勞乎?”他(ta)說:“諸君以道(dao)德恢宏、風(feng)流相(xiang)尚,執鄙(bi)吝者非壸而誰!”由此可見他(ta)為國事任勞任怨的博大胸懷。當(dang)時貴(gui)族子弟多以放浪形骸、清淡不倦的王澄(cheng)、謝(xie)鯤等人為曠達,壸卻認為這些人“悖禮傷教,罪莫斯甚,中(zhong)朝傾覆,實由于此。”此言大有見地(di),可謂入木三分。
卞壸后來(lai)面部受傷,多次(ci)要求辭職。咸和二(er)年(327年)改(gai)拜光(guang)祿大夫,加(jia)散騎常侍(shi)。同(tong)時庾(yu)亮(liang)(liang)認為蘇(su)峻屯兵(bing)歷(li)陽,最(zui)終都(dou)會生(sheng)禍亂,言:“大將(jiang)蘇(su)峻,素有狼子野心(xin),將(jiang)來(lai)一定(ding)會作(zuo)(zuo)亂,如果不(bu)(bu)削弱其權力(li),多年后必(bi)(bi)不(bu)(bu)可(ke)(ke)治,這是漢晁(chao)錯勸(quan)景帝早削七(qi)國兵(bing)權的原因(yin)。”建議(yi)朝廷召蘇(su)峻任(ren)(ren)大司馬,以(yi)(yi)收籠絡之(zhi)效,并(bing)借機(ji)釋(shi)其兵(bing)權。朝廷諸官皆無異議(yi)。卞壸固爭以(yi)(yi)為不(bu)(bu)可(ke)(ke),對庾(yu)亮(liang)(liang)說(shuo)蘇(su)峻現擁(yong)有重兵(bing),且(qie)離京邑較(jiao)近,這樣做(zuo)將(jiang)必(bi)(bi)定(ding)激發蘇(su)峻提前叛亂,危及(ji)朝廷,應(ying)慢慢削其兵(bing)權。可(ke)(ke)庾(yu)亮(liang)(liang)不(bu)(bu)聽(ting)卞壸所言,最(zui)終決定(ding)要實行(xing)。卞壸知(zhi)道這次(ci)此舉必(bi)(bi)定(ding)失敗,更向時任(ren)(ren)平南將(jiang)軍的溫嶠(jiao)表示擔(dan)心(xin)。司馬任(ren)(ren)臺亦勸(quan)卞壸準備良(liang)馬作(zuo)(zuo)不(bu)(bu)時之(zhi)需(xu),但卞壸笑看回答說(shuo):“真到那(nei)時,要馬何用?”
不久庾(yu)亮(liang)(liang)正式(shi)征召蘇(su)(su)(su)峻(jun),蘇(su)(su)(su)峻(jun)于是聯合祖約(yue)以討庾(yu)亮(liang)(liang)為(wei)名起兵。卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸便復任(ren)尚書令、右將(jiang)軍(jun)、領(ling)(ling)右衛將(jiang)軍(jun)。次(ci)年(nian),蘇(su)(su)(su)峻(jun)進(jin)軍(jun)到(dao)東陵口(kou),卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸再被任(ren)命(ming)為(wei)都(dou)督大桁東諸軍(jun)事、假節,加領(ling)(ling)軍(jun)將(jiang)軍(jun)、給事中。卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸后(hou)率領(ling)(ling)郭默和(he)趙胤等在西陵與(yu)蘇(su)(su)(su)峻(jun)軍(jun)大戰(zhan)(zhan),為(wei)蘇(su)(su)(su)峻(jun)破城而(er)入。卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸于是撤退,并歸遇符節謝(xie)罪。及后(hou)蘇(su)(su)(su)峻(jun)攻青溪(xi),卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸又(you)與(yu)諸軍(jun)抵抗(kang),但(dan)仍戰(zhan)(zhan)敗,更被蘇(su)(su)(su)峻(jun)火燒(shao)宮寺。在戰(zhan)(zhan)斗中,卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸背瘡未合,但(dan)胸懷報(bao)國(guo)之心,身先士卒,英勇殺敵,終(zhong)因(yin)不支,壯烈殉國(guo),時(shi)年(nian)四十(shi)八歲。其二(er)子卞(bian)(bian)(bian)眕、卞(bian)(bian)(bian)盱,見父殉國(guo),為(wei)報(bao)父仇,相(xiang)隨(sui)殺入敵軍(jun),亦力戰(zhan)(zhan)而(er)死。
咸和四年(329年),蘇峻(jun)之亂平定,經朝議,追贈(zeng)卞壸(kun)侍(shi)(shi)中、驃騎(qi)將軍、開(kai)府儀同三司等榮銜,謚號“忠(zhong)貞”,祀以太牢(lao)。贈(zeng)子眕(zhen)散騎(qi)侍(shi)(shi)郎,盱奉軍都(dou)尉(wei)。
卞壸(kun)(kun)是一(yi)位書(shu)法家,尤(you)善草書(shu)。唐(tang)竇(dou)臬(nie)《述(shu)書(shu)賦》云:“望之之草,聚古而老。落紙筋盤,分行羽抱。如充牛(niu)刃多(duo)士,交連雜寶。”《淳(chun)化閣法帖(tie)》卷三有(you)其草書(shu)一(yi)帖(tie),六行,五十六字。卞壸(kun)(kun)書(shu)法現存于(yu)西安(an)碑林的(de)還有(you)一(yi)行書(shu)壁碑,內(nei)容是:“崔諒(liang)、史(shi)曜、陳淮可(ke)補吏部郎,詔書(shu)可(ke)爾。此三人皆眾論所(suo)稱,諒(liang)尤(you)質止(zhi),少華可(ke)以敦教。雖大化未可(ke)倉(cang)卒,風尚所(suo)勸為益者多(duo),臣(chen)以為宜先用諒(liang),謹隨事以聞。晉侍中卞壸(kun)(kun)書(shu)。”此碑亦為無價之寶。《全晉文》收錄有(you)其文。
東晉(jin)廢帝司馬(ma)奕書贊卞壼曰:“忠則(ze)順天,孝則(ze)盡(jin)命(ming);守(shou)忠死(si)國,孰不(bu)起敬?”
東(dong)晉孝武(wu)帝司馬曜(yao)敕命大臣翟湯書贊成卞壼遺(yi)像:“子死(si)于父,父喪于君(jun);公(gong)均攤(tan)涉逝,公(gong)圖永存,潔之(zhi)似玉,清之(zhi)如水;節義忠孝,萃于一門(men)。”
《晉書》贊卞(bian)壼父子忠孝(xiao)行(xing)為曰(yue):“望之徇(xun)義,處死(si)為易。惟子惟臣,名(ming)節斯(si)寄。”
唐太宗御撰《本傳》,稱卞(bian)壼父子(zi)行(xing)為:“宜加鼎司之(zhi)號,以旌(jing)忠(zhong)烈之(zhi)勛”;
明成祖朱棣稱贊卞壼父子(zi)忠貞行為:“父將(jiang)一死(si)報(bao)君恩,二子(zi)臨戎忍自存。慨慷相隨(sui)同日(ri)盡,千古忠孝表清門。”
清(qing)康熙帝(di)巡(xun)視江南(nan),至(zhi)卞公(gong)柌(ci)祭祀卞壼父(fu)子,御(yu)書“凜然正(zheng)氣”匾額。
乾隆(long)帝多(duo)次親往祭祀卞(bian)壼父子墓(mu),于1751年為朝天宮卞(bian)公祠堂題寫“典午(wu)孤(gu)忠”匾額(e);
王(wang)導(dao):刁玄(xuan)亮(liang)之(zhi)察察,戴(dai)若(ruo)思(si)之(zhi)巖巖,卞望(wang)之(zhi)之(zhi)峰岠。
翟湯:父死于君,子死于父,忠(zhong)孝之道,萃于一門。”
弘訥(ne):①死事之(zhi)(zhi)臣古今所重(zhong),卞(bian)令忠典之(zhi)(zhi)節(jie)(jie),當書于竹帛。②夫(fu)事親莫(mo)大于孝,事君莫(mo)尚于忠。唯孝也(ye),故(gu)能盡(jin)敬竭誠;唯忠也(ye),故(gu)能見危授(shou)命(ming)。此在(zai)三(san)之(zhi)(zhi)大節(jie)(jie),臣子之(zhi)(zhi)極行也(ye)。案壸委質三(san)朝(chao),盡(jin)規翼(yi)亮,遭世險難(nan),存亡以之(zhi)(zhi)。受顧(gu)托之(zhi)(zhi)重(zhong),居(ju)端右之(zhi)(zhi)任,擁衛至尊,則有(you)保(bao)傅(fu)之(zhi)(zhi)恩;正(zheng)色在(zai)朝(chao),則有(you)匪躬(gong)之(zhi)(zhi)節(jie)(jie)。賊峻造逆(ni),戮力致討,身當矢旝,再(zai)對賊鋒,父子并命(ming),可謂破(po)家(jia)為國(guo),守(shou)死勤(qin)事。

房玄齡:卞壸束帶立朝,以匡正為己(ji)任,褰裳衛主(zhu),蹈忠(zhong)義以成名。遂使臣(chen)死于君,子死于父,惟忠(zhong)與孝(xiao),萃其一(yi)門。古稱(cheng)社稷之臣(chen),忠(zhong)貞之謂矣。望(wang)之徇義,處(chu)死為易。惟子惟臣(chen),名節斯寄。
宋代文天祥為卞氏族譜題(ti)跋:“卞氏自(zi)六龍(long)之(zhi)后,數千年清(qing)白相傳”;
袁枚(mei)祭奠卞壼父(fu)子(zi)著文(wen)稱:“白骨(gu)一抔,增宇宙山川之色;玉卮(zhi)三奠,堅古(gu)今忠孝之心”;
兵部(bu)左侍郎(lang)張伯鯨,為晉成陽侯忠貞卞公立:”千秋(qiu)仰止(zhi)”。
南京兵部(bu)尚(shang)書(shu)史(shi)可法,為晉(jin)成陽侯忠貞卞公立:“乾坤(kun)正(zheng)氣”。
詔起(qi)南京宗伯正(zheng)郎前左(zuo)右諫議(yi)齊魯(lu)文衡彭惟成為晉代卞忠貞公立“父子三仁”。
鹺使后學馬(ma)大士敬題,史(shi)官胡士省薰沐拜書:“萬世人倫”。
直隸(li)揚州府(fu)(fu)知府(fu)(fu)徐(xu)伯徵,為晉光(guang)祿大夫(fu)成陽忠貞(zhen)卞公(gong)立(li)“忠節扶天(tian)”。
賜進士第文林(lin)郎知江(jiang)都縣事遲大成(cheng),于崇禎(zhen)三年歲次庚(geng)午仲春吉旦立“與(yu)河山俱”。

卞壸堅(jian)守舊禮(li),如(ru)繼母死后,在(zai)她下葬后晉元(yuan)帝(di)就命(ming)他(ta)復職,但(dan)他(ta)都一(yi)(yi)直(zhi)不(bu)(bu)肯,最后更上書元(yuan)帝(di),陳說(shuo)自(zi)己(ji)一(yi)(yi)定要(yao)守孝,最終令(ling)元(yuan)帝(di)讓他(ta)完成守喪(sang)期(qi)。又一(yi)(yi)次淮(huai)南(nan)郡中正(zheng)(zheng)王(wang)(wang)(wang)式有(you)一(yi)(yi)繼母,其前(qian)夫逝世后,嫁給了王(wang)(wang)(wang)式的(de)父親(qin),后來王(wang)(wang)(wang)式的(de)父親(qin)逝世,在(zai)服喪(sang)期(qi)滿后,要(yao)回前(qian)夫家(jia)(jia)中,前(qian)夫家(jia)(jia)中也有(you)繼子(zi),對王(wang)(wang)(wang)式的(de)繼母奉養至終,后與(yu)前(qian)夫合葬。王(wang)(wang)(wang)式自(zi)己(ji)說(shuo),在(zai)其父親(qin)臨(lin)終之前(qian),其繼母曾請求回前(qian)夫家(jia)(jia)中,而王(wang)(wang)(wang)式的(de)父親(qin)已經答應。于是依禮(li)制應當服“齊衰(shuai)”之喪(sang),即服喪(sang)一(yi)(yi)年,未像對親(qin)母一(yi)(yi)樣服喪(sang)三年。但(dan)卞壸認為(wei)這不(bu)(bu)合禮(li),更認為(wei)王(wang)(wang)(wang)式有(you)錯,不(bu)(bu)以禮(li)法行事,沒資(zi)格(ge)任審核人的(de)小中正(zheng)(zheng)一(yi)(yi)職。最終王(wang)(wang)(wang)式經鄉邑清(qing)議,終身不(bu)(bu)被任命(ming)為(wei)官。
卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸除了遵從禮法,更加不畏權貴。如(ru)在王(wang)(wang)式(shi)一事,他順道亦彈(dan)劾司徒荀(xun)組和(he)揚州(zhou)大中(zhong)(zhong)正(zheng)兼侍中(zhong)(zhong)陸曄和(he)淮南大中(zhong)(zhong)正(zheng)兼散騎侍郎(lang)胡弘不能崇正(zheng)禮法,失職應被(bei)免(mian)(mian)職和(he)削減封地,并由廷尉(wei)定罪。最終(zhong)由元帝(di)下(xia)令赦免(mian)(mian)三人。后(hou)明帝(di)即位(wei)(wei),王(wang)(wang)導(dao)(dao)因(yin)病而不參(can)加登位(wei)(wei)進璽的(de)儀式(shi),卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸嚴肅地說(shuo):“王(wang)(wang)公還怎是(shi)國(guo)家(jia)重臣(chen)(chen)(chen)!皇帝(di)正(zheng)在舉殯,新君又未立,難道是(shi)人臣(chen)(chen)(chen)以病推托的(de)時間!”王(wang)(wang)導(dao)(dao)聽后(hou)便抱(bao)病趕去(qu)。及后(hou)朝(chao)廷召樂(le)廣子樂(le)謨和(he)庾珉之子庾怡分別任郡中(zhong)(zhong)正(zheng)和(he)廷尉(wei)評,二人都(dou)以長輩(bei)有命為由推辭,但卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸卻上書認(ren)為人臣(chen)(chen)(chen)不應以私廢公,更指(zhi)二人的(de)父親既受(shou)晉室恩寵,自己(ji)也(ye)不再是(shi)屬于自己(ji)一人,其后(hou)代也(ye)是(shi)一樣。如(ru)此(ci)二人皆逼不得已而接受(shou)任命。及后(hou)王(wang)(wang)導(dao)(dao)以病不上朝(chao),卻私下(xia)為車騎將軍(jun)郗鑒送行(xing),卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸便指(zhi)王(wang)(wang)導(dao)(dao)徇私枉法,無大臣(chen)(chen)(chen)的(de)氣(qi)節;另指(zhi)御(yu)史中(zhong)(zhong)丞鐘雅曲解(jie)王(wang)(wang)典,監(jian)察(cha)不加準繩。卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸并上奏(zou)將王(wang)(wang)導(dao)(dao)和(he)鐘雅免(mian)(mian)官(guan),雖然最終(zhong)都(dou)沒有執行(xing),但都(dou)令朝(chao)中(zhong)(zhong)震驚。
卞壸(kun)為官實干(gan),以褒貶人事為己任,并且努(nu)力(li)工作,試圖監督(du)世間(jian),將世道導入正軌,因(yin)而都(dou)(dou)不同意(yi)當(dang)(dang)時的風氣,因(yin)此在(zai)當(dang)(dang)時都(dou)(dou)沒什么稱譽。而且卞壸(kun)亦廉潔節儉,生活都(dou)(dou)簡(jian)約樸素(su)。
晉安(an)(an)帝(di)義熙九年(nian)(413年(nian)),有盜墓者盜卞壸(kun)墓,打開棺(guan)木搜掠陪葬品時發現卞壸(kun)面(mian)色(se)如同活著般,雙手(shou)握拳,指甲更長得延展穿過(guo)手(shou)背(bei),(見晉書“爪甲穿達手(shou)背(bei)”)安(an)(an)帝(di)下詔賜予(yu)錢十萬(wan),修復其墓。
《晉書·卷(juan)七十·列傳第四十》
卞壸,字(zi)望之,濟陰冤句人(ren)也。祖統,瑯邪內史。父(fu)粹(cui)(cui),以(yi)清辯(bian)鑒察稱。兄弟(di)六人(ren)并(bing)登(deng)宰府,世稱“卞氏(shi)六龍,玄仁無雙”。玄仁,粹(cui)(cui)字(zi)也。弟(di)裒,嘗忤其郡(jun)將,郡(jun)將怒訐其門內之私,粹(cui)(cui)遂以(yi)不訓見(jian)(jian)譏議,陵遲積(ji)年。惠帝初(chu),為尚書郎。楊駿執政,人(ren)多(duo)附會,而粹(cui)(cui)正(zheng)直不阿。及駿誅(zhu),超拜右(you)丞,封成陽縣子,稍遷至右(you)軍(jun)將軍(jun)。張華(hua)之誅(zhu),粹(cui)(cui)以(yi)華(hua)婿免官(guan)。齊王(wang)冏輔政,為侍中(zhong)、中(zhong)書令,進爵(jue)為公。及長沙王(wang)司馬乂專權,粹(cui)(cui)立朝(chao)正(zheng)色,乂忌而害之。初(chu),粹(cui)(cui)如廁,見(jian)(jian)物若兩眼(yan),俄而難(nan)作(zuo)。
壸弱冠有名譽,司兗二州(zhou)、齊王冏辟,皆不(bu)就(jiu)。遇家禍,還鄉里。永嘉中,除著作(zuo)郎(lang),襲父爵。征東將軍周(zhou)馥請為(wei)從(cong)事(shi)中郎(lang),不(bu)就(jiu)。遭(zao)本州(zhou)傾覆,東依妻兄(xiong)徐州(zhou)刺史裴盾。盾以壸行廣陵相。元(yuan)帝鎮建(jian)鄴,召為(wei)從(cong)事(shi)中郎(lang),委(wei)以選舉,甚見親杖。出(chu)為(wei)明帝東中郎(lang)長史。遭(zao)繼母憂,既葬,起復舊職,累辭不(bu)就(jiu)。元(yuan)帝遣中使敦(dun)逼,壸箋(jian)自陳曰:
壸天(tian)性狷狹(xia),不(bu)能(neng)和俗,退(tui)以(yi)(yi)情事,欲畢(bi)志家門(men)。亡父往為(wei)中書令,時壸蒙(meng)大(da)例,望門(men)見(jian)辟,信其所執,得(de)不(bu)祗就(jiu)。門(men)戶(hu)遇禍,迸竄易名(ming),得(de)存(cun)視(shi)息,私(si)志有素(su)。加嬰極(ji)難,流寄蘭陵(ling),為(wei)茍晞所召(zhao),恐見(jian)逼(bi)迫,依下邳裴盾,又見(jian)假授(shou),思暫之郡,規得(de)托(tuo)身。尋蒙(meng)見(jian)召(zhao),為(wei)從事中郎(lang)(lang),豈曰貪榮,直(zhi)欲自致,規暫恭命,行當乞(qi)退(tui)。屬華軼之難,不(bu)敢自陳(chen)。軼既梟懸,壸亦嬰病(bing),具自歸聞(wen),未蒙(meng)恕(shu)遣。世子北征,選寵顯望,復以(yi)(yi)無施(shi),忝充(chong)元(yuan)佐。榮則榮矣(yi),實(shi)非素(su)懷。顧(gu)以(yi)(yi)命重(zhong)人(ren)輕(qing),不(bu)敢辭憚。聞(wen)西臺召(zhao)壸為(wei)尚書郎(lang)(lang),實(shi)欲因此以(yi)(yi)避(bi)賢路,未及陳(chen)誠,奄(yan)丁窮罰(fa)。
壸年九歲(sui),為先母弟表所(suo)(suo)見孤(gu)背(bei)。十二,蒙亡母張(zhang)所(suo)(suo)見覆育(yu)。壸以陋賤(jian),不能榮親(qin),家產屢空,養道多闕,存無歡(huan)娛,終(zhong)不備禮,拊心永恨(hen),五(wu)內(nei)抽割。于公無效(xiao)如(ru)彼,私情(qing)(qing)艱(jian)苦(ku)如(ru)此,實無情(qing)(qing)顏昧冒(mao)榮進。若廢壸一人(ren),江北便有(you)傾危之(zhi)慮,壸居(ju)事(shi)之(zhi)日功績以隆(long)者,誠(cheng)不得私其身。今東中(zhong)郎岐(qi)嶷自然,神明日茂,軍司馬、諸(zhu)參(can)佐并以明德(de)宣力王事(shi),壸之(zhi)去留(liu),會無損(sun)益。賀循、謝端、顧景、丁琛、傅晞等皆荷恩(en)命(ming),高枕家門。壸委(wei)質二府,漸冉五(wu)載,考效(xiao)則(ze)不能已彰,論(lun)心則(ze)頻累(lei)恭順,奈何哀(ai)孤(gu)之(zhi)日不見愍恕(shu)哉(zai)!
帝以其辭(ci)苦,不奪其志。
服闋,為(wei)世子師。壸前(qian)后居師佐之任(ren),盡匡輔之節,一府(fu)貴(gui)而憚(dan)焉。中(zhong)興(xing)建,補太子中(zhong)庶子,轉(zhuan)散騎(qi)常侍(shi),侍(shi)講東宮。遷(qian)太子詹事(shi)(shi)(shi),以公事(shi)(shi)(shi)免。尋復職(zhi),轉(zhuan)御史(shi)中(zhong)丞。忠于事(shi)(shi)(shi)上,權貴(gui)屏跡。

hong)(zhong)(zhong)身(shen)。壸(kun)(kun)遷(qian)吏部(bu)尚書。王(wang)含(han)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)難,加中(zhong)軍(jun)將軍(jun)。含(han)滅,以(yi)(yi)功封(feng)建(jian)興縣公,尋遷(qian)領軍(jun)將軍(jun)。
明帝(di)(di)不(bu)豫(yu),領尚書(shu)令(ling),與(yu)(yu)王(wang)(wang)導(dao)(dao)(dao)(dao)等(deng)俱受(shou)顧命(ming)輔幼主。復拜右將軍,加給事(shi)中(zhong)(zhong)、尚書(shu)令(ling)。帝(di)(di)崩,成帝(di)(di)即位,群(qun)(qun)臣(chen)進璽,司徒王(wang)(wang)導(dao)(dao)(dao)(dao)以(yi)疾(ji)不(bu)至。壸(kun)正(zheng)色于朝(chao)曰:“王(wang)(wang)公豈社(she)稷之(zhi)(zhi)臣(chen)邪!大(da)(da)行大(da)(da)殯,嗣皇未(wei)(wei)立(li)(li),寧(ning)是(shi)人臣(chen)辭疾(ji)之(zhi)(zhi)時!”導(dao)(dao)(dao)(dao)聞之(zhi)(zhi),乃輿(yu)疾(ji)而(er)至。皇太后臨朝(chao),壸(kun)與(yu)(yu)庾(yu)亮對直省(sheng)中(zhong)(zhong),共參機要。時召南陽樂謨為(wei)郡(jun)中(zhong)(zhong)正(zheng),潁川庾(yu)怡為(wei)廷尉評。謨、怡各(ge)稱父(fu)(fu)(fu)命(ming)不(bu)就(jiu)。壸(kun)奏曰:“人無(wu)非父(fu)(fu)(fu)而(er)生,職無(wu)非事(shi)而(er)立(li)(li)。有(you)父(fu)(fu)(fu)必(bi)有(you)命(ming),居(ju)職必(bi)有(you)悔。有(you)家各(ge)私(si)其(qi)(qi)子(zi),此(ci)(ci)為(wei)王(wang)(wang)者無(wu)人,職不(bu)軌物,官(guan)不(bu)立(li)(li)政。如此(ci)(ci)則(ze)先圣之(zhi)(zhi)言(yan)廢,五教(jiao)之(zhi)(zhi)訓塞,君臣(chen)之(zhi)(zhi)道散,上下之(zhi)(zhi)化(hua)替矣。樂廣(guang)以(yi)平夷稱,庾(yu)珉以(yi)忠篤顯,受(shou)寵圣世,身非己有(you),況及后嗣而(er)可專(zhuan)哉!所居(ju)之(zhi)(zhi)職若(ruo)順夫(fu)群(qun)(qun)心(xin),則(ze)戰戍者之(zhi)(zhi)父(fu)(fu)(fu)母皆(jie)(jie)當以(yi)命(ming)子(zi),不(bu)以(yi)處也(ye)(ye)。若(ruo)順謨父(fu)(fu)(fu)之(zhi)(zhi)意(yi),則(ze)人皆(jie)(jie)不(bu)為(wei)郡(jun)中(zhong)(zhong)正(zheng),人倫廢矣。順怡父(fu)(fu)(fu)之(zhi)(zhi)意(yi),人皆(jie)(jie)不(bu)為(wei)獄(yu)官(guan),則(ze)刑辟息矣。凡如是(shi)者,其(qi)(qi)可聽歟?若(ruo)不(bu)可聽,何以(yi)許謨、怡之(zhi)(zhi)得稱父(fu)(fu)(fu)命(ming)乎!此(ci)(ci)為(wei)謨以(yi)名父(fu)(fu)(fu)子(zi)可虧法,怡是(shi)親戚可以(yi)自(zi)專(zhuan)。以(yi)此(ci)(ci)二途服人示世,臣(chen)所未(wei)(wei)悟也(ye)(ye)。宜一切班下,不(bu)得以(yi)私(si)廢公。絕其(qi)(qi)表疏,以(yi)為(wei)永制。”朝(chao)議以(yi)為(wei)然。謨、怡不(bu)得已,各(ge)居(ju)所職。是(shi)時王(wang)(wang)導(dao)(dao)(dao)(dao)稱疾(ji)不(bu)朝(chao),而(er)私(si)送車騎將軍郗鑒,壸(kun)奏以(yi)導(dao)(dao)(dao)(dao)虧法從私(si),無(wu)大(da)(da)臣(chen)之(zhi)(zhi)節。御(yu)史中(zhong)(zhong)丞鐘(zhong)雅阿撓王(wang)(wang)典,不(bu)加準繩,并請(qing)免(mian)官(guan)。雖事(shi)寢(qin)不(bu)行,舉(ju)朝(chao)震肅。壸(kun)斷(duan)裁切直,不(bu)畏強御(yu),皆(jie)(jie)此(ci)(ci)類也(ye)(ye)。
壸(kun)干實當官(guan),以褒貶為(wei)己任,勤(qin)于(yu)吏事,欲軌正(zheng)督世,不(bu)肯茍同時好。然(ran)性不(bu)弘裕,才不(bu)副意,故為(wei)諸名(ming)士(shi)所少,而(er)無卓爾優譽。明帝深器之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),于(yu)諸大臣而(er)最任職。阮孚每(mei)謂之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)曰(yue)(yue);“卿恒無閑泰(tai),常如含瓦石,不(bu)亦勞乎?”壸(kun)曰(yue)(yue):“諸君(jun)以道德恢弘,風流(liu)相(xiang)尚,執鄙吝者(zhe),非壸(kun)而(er)誰!”時貴游子弟多慕王(wang)澄、謝鯤為(wei)達,壸(kun)厲(li)色(se)于(yu)朝曰(yue)(yue):“悖禮(li)傷教(jiao),罪莫(mo)斯(si)甚(shen)!中朝傾覆,實由于(yu)此。”欲奏推之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。王(wang)導(dao)、庾(yu)亮不(bu)從,乃止,然(ran)而(er)聞者(zhe)莫(mo)不(bu)折節。時王(wang)導(dao)以勛德輔政,成帝每(mei)幸(xing)其(qi)宅,嘗拜導(dao)婦曹氏。侍(shi)中孔坦(tan)密表(biao)不(bu)宜拜。導(dao)聞之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)曰(yue)(yue):“王(wang)茂弘駑疴耳,若(ruo)卞(bian)望之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)巖(yan)巖(yan),刁玄亮之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)察察,戴若(ruo)思之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)峰岠(ju),當敢爾邪!”壸(kun)廉(lian)潔(jie)儉(jian)素,居(ju)甚(shen)貧約。息(xi)當婚,詔特賜(si)錢五十萬,固辭不(bu)受。后患面創,累乞解(jie)職。
拜光祿大(da)夫(fu),加散(san)騎常侍。時庾亮(liang)將(jiang)征(zheng)(zheng)蘇峻(jun)(jun)(jun)(jun),言于(yu)朝(chao)曰:“峻(jun)(jun)(jun)(jun)狼子(zi)野(ye)心(xin),終必(bi)為(wei)亂。當下(xia)征(zheng)(zheng)之(zhi),縱(zong)不(bu)(bu)順命,為(wei)禍猶淺。若復經(jing)年,為(wei)惡滋蔓,不(bu)(bu)可復制。此(ci)是朝(chao)錯勸(quan)漢景(jing)帝早削七國事(shi)也。”當時議者無(wu)(wu)以(yi)易(yi)之(zhi)。壸(kun)(kun)固爭(zheng),謂亮(liang)曰:“峻(jun)(jun)(jun)(jun)擁強兵,多藏無(wu)(wu)賴,且逼近京邑,路(lu)不(bu)(bu)終朝(chao),一旦有變,易(yi)為(wei)蹉(cuo)跌。宜深(shen)思遠慮,恐(kong)未可倉卒。”亮(liang)不(bu)(bu)納(na)。壸(kun)(kun)知(zhi)必(bi)敗,與(yu)平(ping)南將(jiang)軍溫(wen)嶠書(shu)曰:“元規召峻(jun)(jun)(jun)(jun)意(yi)定,懷此(ci)於邑。溫(wen)生足下(xia),柰此(ci)事(shi)何(he)(he)!吾今(jin)所慮,是國之(zhi)大(da)事(shi),且峻(jun)(jun)(jun)(jun)已(yi)出狂(kuang)意(yi),而(er)召之(zhi)更速,必(bi)縱(zong)其群惡以(yi)向朝(chao)廷。朝(chao)廷威力(li)誠桓桓,交須接鋒履刃,尚(shang)不(bu)(bu)知(zhi)便可即擒不(bu)(bu)?王公亦同此(ci)情。吾與(yu)之(zhi)爭(zheng)甚懇(ken)切,不(bu)(bu)能(neng)如之(zhi)何(he)(he)。本出足下(xia)為(wei)外(wai)籓任,而(er)今(jin)恨(hen)出足下(xia)在(zai)外(wai)。若卿(qing)在(zai)內俱諫,必(bi)當相從。今(jin)內外(wai)戒嚴,四方有備(bei),峻(jun)(jun)(jun)(jun)兇狂(kuang)必(bi)無(wu)(wu)所至耳,恐(kong)不(bu)(bu)能(neng)使(shi)無(wu)(wu)傷,如何(he)(he)?”壸(kun)(kun)司馬(ma)任臺勸(quan)壸(kun)(kun)宜畜良(liang)馬(ma),以(yi)備(bei)不(bu)(bu)虞。壸(kun)(kun)笑曰:“以(yi)順逆論之(zhi),理無(wu)(wu)不(bu)(bu)濟。若萬一不(bu)(bu)然(ran),豈須馬(ma)哉!”峻(jun)(jun)(jun)(jun)果稱兵。壸(kun)(kun)復為(wei)尚(shang)書(shu)令、右(you)將(jiang)軍、領右(you)衛(wei)將(jiang)軍,余官(guan)如故。
峻(jun)至東陵口,詔以(yi)壸(kun)(kun)都督大桁東諸軍(jun)(jun)事、假節,復加領軍(jun)(jun)將軍(jun)(jun)、給事中,壸(kun)(kun)率郭默、趙胤(yin)等與(yu)峻(jun)大戰(zhan)于(yu)西陵,為峻(jun)所破。壸(kun)(kun)與(yu)鐘雅皆退(tui)還,死傷(shang)者以(yi)千數。壸(kun)(kun)、雅并還節,詣闕謝罪。峻(jun)進攻(gong)青溪,壸(kun)(kun)與(yu)諸軍(jun)(jun)距擊,不能禁(jin)。賊(zei)放火燒宮寺(si),六(liu)軍(jun)(jun)敗績。壸(kun)(kun)時發背創,猶未合,力疾而戰(zhan),率厲散眾及左(zuo)右吏數百人(ren),攻(gong)賊(zei)麾(hui)下(xia),苦戰(zhan),遂死之(zhi),時年四十八。二(er)子眕、盱見(jian)父沒,相隨赴(fu)賊(zei),同(tong)時見(jian)害。
峻(jun)平(ping),朝議(yi)(yi)贈(zeng)壸左光祿大(da)夫,加散騎(qi)常侍(shi)。尚書郎(lang)弘訥議(yi)(yi)以(yi)為“死事(shi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)臣(chen)古(gu)今(jin)所重(zhong),卞令忠(zhong)貞之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)節,當書于竹(zhu)帛。今(jin)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)追贈(zeng),實未副眾望,謂(wei)宜加鼎司(si)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)號,以(yi)旌忠(zhong)烈之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)勛”。司(si)徒(tu)王導(dao)見議(yi)(yi),進贈(zeng)驃(piao)騎(qi)將(jiang)軍,加侍(shi)中(zhong)。訥重(zhong)議(yi)(yi)曰:“夫事(shi)親莫(mo)大(da)于孝,事(shi)君莫(mo)尚于忠(zhong)。唯孝也,故能(neng)盡敬竭(jie)誠(cheng);唯忠(zhong)也,故能(neng)見危授命(ming)。此在(zai)三(san)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)大(da)節,臣(chen)子(zi)(zi)(zi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)極行也。案壸委質三(san)朝,盡規翼亮,遭世險難,存亡以(yi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。受顧托之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)重(zhong),居(ju)端右之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)任,擁衛至尊,則有保(bao)傅之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)恩;正色(se)在(zai)朝,則有匪躬之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)節。賊峻(jun)造逆,戮力致(zhi)討,身當矢旝,再對賊鋒(feng),父子(zi)(zi)(zi)并(bing)命(ming),可謂(wei)破家為國,守死勤事(shi)。昔許(xu)男(nan)疾終(zhong),猶蒙(meng)二等之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)贈(zeng),況壸伏節國難者乎!夫賞疑從重(zhong),況在(zai)不疑!謂(wei)可上(shang)準(zhun)許(xu)穆,下同(tong)嵇紹,則允合(he)典謨,克厭眾望。”于是(shi)改贈(zeng)壸侍(shi)中(zhong)、驃(piao)騎(qi)將(jiang)軍、開府儀同(tong)三(san)司(si),謚(shi)曰忠(zhong)貞,祠以(yi)太牢(lao)。贈(zeng)世子(zi)(zi)(zi)眕(zhen)(zhen)散騎(qi)侍(shi)郎(lang),眕(zhen)(zhen)弟盱奉車都尉。珍(zhen)母裴氏(shi)撫二子(zi)(zi)(zi)尸(shi)哭曰:“父為忠(zhong)臣(chen),汝為孝子(zi)(zi)(zi),夫何恨乎!”征士翟湯聞之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)嘆曰:“父死于君,子(zi)(zi)(zi)死于父,忠(zhong)孝之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)道,萃(cui)于一門。”眕(zhen)(zhen)子(zi)(zi)(zi)誕嗣(si)。
咸康六年,成(cheng)帝追思壸,下詔曰:“壸立(li)朝忠恪(ke),喪(sang)身(shen)兇(xiong)寇,所封(feng)懸遠,租秩薄少,妻(qi)息(xi)不瞻,以為慨(kai)然(ran)!可給實口(kou)廩。”其后(hou)盜發(fa)壸墓,尸僵,鬢(bin)發(fa)蒼(cang)白,面如生,兩(liang)手(shou)悉拳,爪甲穿達手(shou)背。安帝詔給錢十萬,以修(xiu)塋兆(zhao)。
