卞(bian)壸(kǔn)(281-328年(nian)),字(zi)望之,濟陰郡(jun)冤句縣(今(jin)山東省菏澤市卞(bian)莊(zhuang))人。東晉時(shi)期名(ming)臣、書法家(jia),中書令卞(bian)粹之子。
少有(you)清名,不應朝(chao)命。永嘉年間,卞壸(kun)出(chu)任著作郎(lang)(lang),襲(xi)封(feng)成陽(yang)縣(xian)公(gong)(gong)。永嘉之(zhi)亂(luan)后,投靠(kao)徐州刺史(shi)裴盾,出(chu)任廣陵相(xiang)。投靠(kao)安東將(jiang)軍司馬睿,出(chu)任丞相(xiang)從事中郎(lang)(lang)。東晉(jin)建(jian)立后,出(chu)任太子(zi)(zi)(zi)中庶子(zi)(zi)(zi)、散騎常侍,教(jiao)導太子(zi)(zi)(zi)司馬紹。晉(jin)明帝即位,遷(qian)吏部(bu)尚書。平定王敦之(zhi)亂(luan),受封(feng)建(jian)興縣(xian)公(gong)(gong),出(chu)任領軍將(jiang)軍,選為顧命大(da)臣。晉(jin)成帝登位后,出(chu)任尚書令,聯合外戚庾亮共掌機要。禮法自(zi)居,糾正當世,不畏強(qiang)權。咸(xian)和三(san)年(328年),帶兵平定蘇峻叛亂(luan),以身(shen)殉國(guo),獲贈侍中、驃騎將(jiang)軍,開府儀(yi)同三(san)司,謚號忠貞,葬于(yu)南京朝(chao)天宮西側。
晉卞(bian)忠(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)貞(zhen)公父子三仁英勇就義,演(yan)繹(yi)了(le)中(zhong)華民族“忠(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)孝(xiao)貞(zhen)”全節的(de)家(jia)(jia)族忠(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)烈(lie)史。歷代(dai)受到人(ren)們的(de)敬仰(yang)、尊崇。卞(bian)忠(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)貞(zhen)公父子是愛國(guo)主義、民族精(jing)神的(de)優秀(xiu)代(dai)表人(ren)物,是愛國(guo)主義家(jia)(jia)族精(jing)神的(de)千古典范。卞(bian)壸(kun)后裔秉承“忠(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)孝(xiao)傳家(jia)(jia)”的(de)家(jia)(jia)族遺風,將家(jia)(jia)族堂(tang)號為“忠(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)貞(zhen)(孝(xiao))堂(tang)”,成為歷史上以忠(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)孝(xiao)責任的(de)價值信(xin)仰(yang),培育“忠(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)臣(chen)孝(xiao)子”的(de)“忠(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)貞(zhen)世家(jia)(jia)”。
卞壸[kǔn]出身官(guan)宦之(zhi)家,祖父卞統(tong)曾任瑯邪內史,父親卞粹兄弟六人,“并登宰府”,世稱“卞氏(shi)六龍”。
卞(bian)(bian)壸成年(nian)時已(yi)有名譽,得司兗二(er)州(zhou)和(he)齊王(wang)司馬冏辟命,但(dan)卞(bian)(bian)壸都不應(ying)命。后(hou)父親(qin)卞(bian)(bian)粹被長沙王(wang)司馬乂所殺,卞(bian)(bian)壸回鄉。晉(jin)懷帝(di)永嘉(jia)年(nian)間(jian),卞(bian)(bian)壸出(chu)任著作(zuo)郎,并承(cheng)襲父親(qin)成陽公(gong)的(de)爵(jue)位。后(hou)來(lai)征東將(jiang)軍周馥請卞(bian)(bian)壸為從事(shi)中郎,但(dan)不應(ying)命。永嘉(jia)五(wu)年(nian)(311年(nian))發(fa)生永嘉(jia)之亂,都城洛陽被前趙(zhao)所攻破,晉(jin)懷帝(di)被擄。卞(bian)(bian)壸投靠時任徐州(zhou)刺史的(de)妻兄裴盾。裴盾于是(shi)讓卞(bian)(bian)壸代理廣陵(ling)相。
建武二年(nian)(公元(yuan)318年(nian)),司馬睿在建鄴建立基地(di),召卞壸為(wei)從事(shi)中郎,委以(yi)官員選拔之(zhi)責,深受寵信。后(hou)(hou)出任東中郎將司馬紹(shao)(即后(hou)(hou)來的(de)(de)晉明帝)的(de)(de)長(chang)史。后(hou)(hou)因繼母死而離職服喪。及后(hou)(hou)當成為(wei)晉王世子的(de)(de)司馬紹(shao)的(de)(de)老(lao)師(shi)。
東晉(jin)建立后(hou),任太(tai)(tai)子(zi)中(zhong)庶子(zi),后(hou)轉散騎常侍(shi),侍(shi)講東宮。后(hou)又先后(hou)擔任太(tai)(tai)子(zi)詹事、御(yu)史中(zhong)丞等職(zhi)。卞(bian)壸(kun)前(qian)后(hou)居(ju)師(shi)佐之(zhi)位,盡匡(kuang)輔之(zhi)節,頗為王公大(da)臣敬畏。
太寧元(yuan)年(323年),晉明(ming)帝即位,升為(wei)吏(li)部尚書(shu)。
太(tai)寧(ning)二年(nian)(324年(nian)),王(wang)敦(dun)意圖(tu)奪位而再(zai)次起兵(bing),但因病(bing)重而交由兄長王(wang)含等人領(ling)軍,卞(bian)壸加中軍將(jiang)軍防備王(wang)敦(dun)。及后叛(pan)亂平定,卞(bian)壸因功封建興縣公,不(bu)久遷任領(ling)軍將(jiang)軍。
太(tai)寧三年(325年),明帝(di)病重,卞壸與司徒王(wang)導、車騎將(jiang)軍(jun)郗鑒、丹陽尹溫嶠、護軍(jun)將(jiang)軍(jun)庾亮及領軍(jun)將(jiang)軍(jun)陸曄一同遺詔輔助太(tai)子,任(ren)(ren)顧命(ming)大(da)臣,并(bing)任(ren)(ren)右將(jiang)軍(jun),加(jia)給事中、尚書令(ling)。成帝(di)登位后,他與庾亮共掌機要。
卞(bian)(bian)壸為人(ren)(ren)剛正不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)阿,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)畏權(quan)貴,維護朝(chao)廷(ting)綱紀不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)遺(yi)余(yu)力。晉成帝(di)即(ji)位舉行登基大(da)典那天,元老(lao)重臣(chen)王(wang)導(dao)竟以(yi)(yi)(yi)病缺席(xi)。卞(bian)(bian)壸在朝(chao)廷(ting)上嚴肅地說(shuo):“王(wang)公,社稷之(zhi)(zhi)臣(chen)邪!大(da)行在殯,嗣皇(huang)未立,寧是人(ren)(ren)臣(chen)辭疾(ji)之(zhi)(zhi)時!”王(wang)導(dao)聽說(shuo)后(hou)(hou)連忙帶病趕來(lai)。皇(huang)太后(hou)(hou)臨(lin)朝(chao),卞(bian)(bian)壸與庚亮(liang)值班宮中(zhong),共參機要。朝(chao)廷(ting)下(xia)令召南陽樂(le)謨(mo)為郡中(zhong)丞,潁川庾怡為廷(ting)尉評。但二人(ren)(ren)都強調父命(ming),拒不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)赴任。卞(bian)(bian)壸當即(ji)奏稟太后(hou)(hou),其(qi)中(zhong)提到(dao):“如(ru)此(ci)則先圣之(zhi)(zhi)言廢,王(wang)教之(zhi)(zhi)訓塞,君臣(chen)之(zhi)(zhi)道散,上下(xia)之(zhi)(zhi)化(hua)替矣(yi)。樂(le)廣(謨(mo)之(zhi)(zhi)父)以(yi)(yi)(yi)平夷稱(cheng),庾珉(怡之(zhi)(zhi)父)以(yi)(yi)(yi)忠篤(du)顯,受(shou)寵(chong)圣世(shi),身(shen)非已(yi)有,況(kuang)及后(hou)(hou)世(shi)而(er)可(ke)專哉!”由于卞(bian)(bian)壸的(de)(de)奏章(zhang)(zhang)很(hen)有說(shuo)服力,因而(er)朝(chao)議一(yi)致(zhi)贊(zan)成。樂(le)謨(mo)、庾怡不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)得已(yi),只好上任。此(ci)后(hou)(hou),凡朝(chao)廷(ting)有命(ming),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)得以(yi)(yi)(yi)私害公,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)得以(yi)(yi)(yi)任何借口(kou)推(tui)延(yan),遂形成了(le)一(yi)條永久性的(de)(de)制度(du)。當時,王(wang)導(dao)與庾亮(liang)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)和,庾亮(liang)掌(zhang)權(quan),王(wang)導(dao)就稱(cheng)疾(ji)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)上朝(chao)。一(yi)次王(wang)導(dao)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)上朝(chao),卻私下(xia)為車騎(qi)將軍郗鑒(jian)送行。卞(bian)(bian)壸得知(zhi),毫(hao)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)顧忌王(wang)導(dao)的(de)(de)權(quan)勢和情面(mian),上奏導(dao)“虧法從(cong)私,無大(da)臣(chen)之(zhi)(zhi)節(jie)”;御史中(zhong)丞鐘(zhong)雅(ya)玩忽職(zhi)守,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)按王(wang)典辦事,二人(ren)(ren)應該一(yi)塊免官。雖然(ran)皇(huang)帝(di)將奏章(zhang)(zhang)壓(ya)下(xia),未予處理,但已(yi)引起朝(chao)野(ye)震肅。
卞壸(kun)兢兢業業勤(qin)于(yu)吏事,以匡風(feng)正俗為已任,不(bu)肯隨波(bo)逐流。有(you)(you)人說(shuo)他:“卿恒無(wu)閑泰,常(chang)如含瓦石,不(bu)亦勞乎?”他說(shuo):“諸君(jun)以道(dao)德恢宏、風(feng)流相(xiang)尚(shang),執鄙吝者非壸(kun)而誰!”由(you)此(ci)可見他為國(guo)事任勞任怨的博大胸(xiong)懷。當時(shi)貴族(zu)子弟(di)多以放浪形(xing)骸、清淡不(bu)倦的王澄、謝鯤等(deng)人為曠達,壸(kun)卻認為這些人“悖禮傷教,罪莫斯(si)甚,中朝傾覆(fu),實由(you)于(yu)此(ci)。”此(ci)言大有(you)(you)見地(di),可謂入(ru)木三分(fen)。
卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸(kun)后來(lai)面部(bu)受傷,多次要求(qiu)辭(ci)職。咸和(he)二年(327年)改拜光祿(lu)大夫(fu),加散騎常(chang)侍。同時庾(yu)亮(liang)(liang)認為(wei)(wei)蘇(su)(su)峻(jun)(jun)屯(tun)兵(bing)歷陽,最終(zhong)都(dou)會生禍亂(luan),言:“大將蘇(su)(su)峻(jun)(jun),素有(you)狼子野心(xin),將來(lai)一定會作亂(luan),如(ru)果不(bu)削(xue)弱其權力,多年后必不(bu)可治,這是漢晁錯勸(quan)景帝早削(xue)七國兵(bing)權的原因。”建議朝廷召蘇(su)(su)峻(jun)(jun)任大司(si)馬,以收籠絡之(zhi)效(xiao),并借機(ji)釋其兵(bing)權。朝廷諸(zhu)官皆無異議。卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸(kun)固爭以為(wei)(wei)不(bu)可,對庾(yu)亮(liang)(liang)說(shuo)蘇(su)(su)峻(jun)(jun)現擁有(you)重兵(bing),且(qie)離京邑較近,這樣做將必定激發蘇(su)(su)峻(jun)(jun)提(ti)前(qian)叛亂(luan),危及朝廷,應慢(man)慢(man)削(xue)其兵(bing)權。可庾(yu)亮(liang)(liang)不(bu)聽(ting)卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸(kun)所言,最終(zhong)決(jue)定要實(shi)行。卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸(kun)知道(dao)這次此舉必定失(shi)敗(bai),更向時任平南將軍的溫(wen)嶠(jiao)表(biao)示擔心(xin)。司(si)馬任臺亦勸(quan)卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸(kun)準(zhun)備良馬作不(bu)時之(zhi)需(xu),但卞(bian)(bian)(bian)壸(kun)笑(xiao)看(kan)回(hui)答說(shuo):“真到那時,要馬何用?”
不(bu)久庾(yu)亮(liang)(liang)正式征召蘇(su)峻(jun),蘇(su)峻(jun)于是(shi)(shi)聯合(he)祖約(yue)以討庾(yu)亮(liang)(liang)為(wei)名起兵(bing)。卞(bian)壸便復任(ren)尚(shang)書令、右(you)將軍(jun)、領(ling)右(you)衛將軍(jun)。次(ci)年,蘇(su)峻(jun)進軍(jun)到東(dong)陵口,卞(bian)壸再被(bei)任(ren)命為(wei)都督大(da)桁東(dong)諸(zhu)軍(jun)事(shi)、假節,加(jia)領(ling)軍(jun)將軍(jun)、給(gei)事(shi)中(zhong)。卞(bian)壸后率領(ling)郭默和趙胤等(deng)在(zai)西(xi)陵與蘇(su)峻(jun)軍(jun)大(da)戰(zhan),為(wei)蘇(su)峻(jun)破城而(er)入。卞(bian)壸于是(shi)(shi)撤退,并(bing)歸遇符節謝罪。及后蘇(su)峻(jun)攻(gong)青溪,卞(bian)壸又(you)與諸(zhu)軍(jun)抵抗,但仍戰(zhan)敗,更被(bei)蘇(su)峻(jun)火(huo)燒宮寺。在(zai)戰(zhan)斗中(zhong),卞(bian)壸背瘡(chuang)未(wei)合(he),但胸懷(huai)報國之心,身先士(shi)卒,英勇(yong)殺敵,終(zhong)因不(bu)支,壯烈殉(xun)國,時年四十(shi)八(ba)歲。其二子卞(bian)眕、卞(bian)盱(xu),見父(fu)(fu)殉(xun)國,為(wei)報父(fu)(fu)仇,相隨殺入敵軍(jun),亦力戰(zhan)而(er)死。
咸和四年(329年),蘇峻(jun)之亂(luan)平定,經朝議,追贈卞壸侍中、驃(piao)騎(qi)將軍(jun)(jun)、開府儀同三司等榮(rong)銜,謚(shi)號“忠貞(zhen)”,祀以太牢(lao)。贈子(zi)眕散騎(qi)侍郎,盱奉軍(jun)(jun)都尉(wei)。
卞壸是一(yi)位書(shu)(shu)(shu)(shu)法(fa)家,尤善草書(shu)(shu)(shu)(shu)。唐竇臬《述書(shu)(shu)(shu)(shu)賦》云:“望之之草,聚古而老。落紙筋(jin)盤,分行(xing)(xing)羽抱。如充牛刃多士,交連雜寶。”《淳化閣(ge)法(fa)帖》卷三(san)有(you)其草書(shu)(shu)(shu)(shu)一(yi)帖,六行(xing)(xing),五十六字。卞壸書(shu)(shu)(shu)(shu)法(fa)現(xian)存于西安碑(bei)林的還有(you)一(yi)行(xing)(xing)書(shu)(shu)(shu)(shu)壁碑(bei),內容(rong)是:“崔諒、史曜、陳淮可(ke)補吏部郎,詔書(shu)(shu)(shu)(shu)可(ke)爾。此三(san)人皆眾論所(suo)稱(cheng),諒尤質(zhi)止(zhi),少華可(ke)以敦教(jiao)。雖大(da)化未可(ke)倉卒,風尚所(suo)勸為益(yi)者多,臣以為宜先(xian)用諒,謹(jin)隨事以聞。晉侍中卞壸書(shu)(shu)(shu)(shu)。”此碑(bei)亦為無價之寶。《全晉文》收錄有(you)其文。
東晉(jin)廢(fei)帝(di)司馬奕書(shu)贊(zan)卞壼曰(yue):“忠(zhong)則(ze)順天(tian),孝則(ze)盡命(ming);守忠(zhong)死國,孰(shu)不起敬?”
東晉孝武帝司馬曜敕命大臣翟湯書(shu)贊成(cheng)卞壼遺(yi)像:“子死于父,父喪于君;公均(jun)攤涉逝(shi),公圖永(yong)存,潔之似玉,清之如水;節義(yi)忠孝,萃(cui)于一門。”
《晉書》贊卞(bian)壼父(fu)子忠孝行為曰:“望(wang)之徇(xun)義,處死為易。惟子惟臣,名節斯寄。”
唐太宗御撰《本(ben)傳》,稱卞(bian)壼父子行(xing)為:“宜加鼎(ding)司之號,以(yi)旌(jing)忠烈之勛”;
明成祖朱棣稱(cheng)贊卞壼(kun)父(fu)子(zi)忠(zhong)貞行為(wei):“父(fu)將一(yi)死報君恩,二子(zi)臨戎(rong)忍自存。慨慷相(xiang)隨同日盡(jin),千古忠(zhong)孝表清門。”
清康熙(xi)帝巡視江南,至卞(bian)(bian)公柌祭(ji)祀(si)卞(bian)(bian)壼父子,御(yu)書“凜然正氣”匾額(e)。
乾隆帝(di)多次親往祭祀卞壼父子墓,于1751年為朝(chao)天宮卞公(gong)祠堂題寫(xie)“典午孤忠”匾額;
王導(dao):刁玄亮(liang)之(zhi)察(cha)察(cha),戴若思之(zhi)巖(yan)巖(yan),卞望之(zhi)之(zhi)峰(feng)岠。
翟湯:父死于君(jun),子(zi)死于父,忠(zhong)孝(xiao)之道,萃于一門。”
弘(hong)訥:①死事之(zhi)臣古今(jin)所重,卞令忠(zhong)典之(zhi)節,當(dang)書于竹帛。②夫事親莫大(da)于孝(xiao),事君莫尚于忠(zhong)。唯孝(xiao)也,故能盡(jin)敬竭誠;唯忠(zhong)也,故能見危授命。此在三之(zhi)大(da)節,臣子之(zhi)極行也。案壸委(wei)質三朝,盡(jin)規翼亮,遭世險難,存亡以之(zhi)。受顧托之(zhi)重,居端右之(zhi)任,擁(yong)衛(wei)至尊,則有(you)保傅之(zhi)恩(en);正色在朝,則有(you)匪躬(gong)之(zhi)節。賊峻造逆,戮力致討,身當(dang)矢旝,再對賊鋒,父子并命,可謂(wei)破家(jia)為國,守死勤事。
司馬衍:壸立朝(chao)忠(zhong)恪。
房玄齡:卞壸束(shu)帶立(li)朝,以匡(kuang)正為己任(ren),褰裳衛主(zhu),蹈忠(zhong)義以成(cheng)名(ming)。遂(sui)使臣死(si)于君,子死(si)于父,惟忠(zhong)與孝(xiao),萃其一門。古(gu)稱社稷之臣,忠(zhong)貞之謂(wei)矣。望之徇義,處死(si)為易(yi)。惟子惟臣,名(ming)節斯寄。
宋代(dai)文天(tian)祥為卞氏(shi)族譜題(ti)跋:“卞氏(shi)自(zi)六龍之后,數千年清白相傳”;
袁枚(mei)祭奠(dian)卞壼父(fu)子著文稱:“白骨一抔,增宇宙(zhou)山川之(zhi)色;玉卮三奠(dian),堅古今(jin)忠孝之(zhi)心”;
兵部左侍郎(lang)張伯鯨,為晉(jin)成陽(yang)侯忠(zhong)貞卞公立:”千秋仰止”。
南京兵部尚書史(shi)可法,為晉成陽侯忠貞卞公(gong)立:“乾坤正氣”。
詔起(qi)南京宗伯正郎前左右諫(jian)議(yi)齊(qi)魯文(wen)衡彭惟(wei)成為晉代卞忠貞公立“父(fu)子三仁”。
鹺使后學馬大士(shi)敬題,史官胡士(shi)省薰沐拜(bai)書(shu):“萬世(shi)人倫”。
直(zhi)隸揚州府知府徐伯徵(zhi),為晉光祿大夫(fu)成(cheng)陽(yang)忠(zhong)貞(zhen)卞(bian)公立“忠(zhong)節扶(fu)天”。
賜(si)進士第(di)文林郎知江都縣事遲(chi)大成,于崇禎三年歲(sui)次庚午(wu)仲春吉旦立(li)“與河山俱”。

卞壸(kun)堅守(shou)(shou)(shou)舊禮(li),如繼(ji)(ji)母(mu)死后(hou),在(zai)她下(xia)葬后(hou)晉元(yuan)帝就命(ming)他復職(zhi),但他都一(yi)直(zhi)不肯,最(zui)后(hou)更上(shang)書(shu)元(yuan)帝,陳說(shuo)自己(ji)一(yi)定(ding)要守(shou)(shou)(shou)孝(xiao),最(zui)終(zhong)(zhong)令元(yuan)帝讓(rang)他完成守(shou)(shou)(shou)喪期。又一(yi)次(ci)淮(huai)南郡中(zhong)正王(wang)式(shi)有一(yi)繼(ji)(ji)母(mu),其(qi)前夫(fu)(fu)逝世后(hou),嫁(jia)給了王(wang)式(shi)的(de)父親(qin),后(hou)來王(wang)式(shi)的(de)父親(qin)逝世,在(zai)服(fu)喪期滿后(hou),要回前夫(fu)(fu)家中(zhong),前夫(fu)(fu)家中(zhong)也(ye)有繼(ji)(ji)子,對(dui)王(wang)式(shi)的(de)繼(ji)(ji)母(mu)奉養至終(zhong)(zhong),后(hou)與前夫(fu)(fu)合葬。王(wang)式(shi)自己(ji)說(shuo),在(zai)其(qi)父親(qin)臨(lin)終(zhong)(zhong)之前,其(qi)繼(ji)(ji)母(mu)曾請求回前夫(fu)(fu)家中(zhong),而王(wang)式(shi)的(de)父親(qin)已經答應。于是依禮(li)制應當服(fu)“齊衰(shuai)”之喪,即服(fu)喪一(yi)年,未像對(dui)親(qin)母(mu)一(yi)樣服(fu)喪三年。但卞壸(kun)認(ren)為這不合禮(li),更認(ren)為王(wang)式(shi)有錯,不以禮(li)法行事,沒資格任審核(he)人的(de)小(xiao)中(zhong)正一(yi)職(zhi)。最(zui)終(zhong)(zhong)王(wang)式(shi)經鄉邑清議,終(zhong)(zhong)身不被任命(ming)為官(guan)。
卞壸(kun)除(chu)了遵(zun)從(cong)禮法,更(geng)(geng)加不畏(wei)權貴。如在(zai)王(wang)式(shi)(shi)一事,他順道亦彈劾司徒荀組(zu)和(he)揚州(zhou)大(da)中正(zheng)兼侍中陸曄和(he)淮南大(da)中正(zheng)兼散騎侍郎胡弘不能崇正(zheng)禮法,失職應被(bei)免職和(he)削減封(feng)地,并(bing)由廷(ting)尉定罪(zui)。最終由元帝下令赦免三人(ren)(ren)(ren)。后(hou)(hou)(hou)明帝即位,王(wang)導(dao)因病(bing)而不參加登位進璽的儀式(shi)(shi),卞壸(kun)嚴肅地說:“王(wang)公還怎(zen)是(shi)國家重臣!皇帝正(zheng)在(zai)舉殯,新(xin)君又未立,難道是(shi)人(ren)(ren)(ren)臣以(yi)病(bing)推(tui)托的時間!”王(wang)導(dao)聽后(hou)(hou)(hou)便(bian)抱病(bing)趕去。及后(hou)(hou)(hou)朝(chao)廷(ting)召樂廣子樂謨和(he)庾珉之子庾怡(yi)分別任(ren)郡中正(zheng)和(he)廷(ting)尉評,二人(ren)(ren)(ren)都(dou)以(yi)長輩(bei)有命為由推(tui)辭(ci),但卞壸(kun)卻上(shang)書認(ren)為人(ren)(ren)(ren)臣不應以(yi)私(si)廢公,更(geng)(geng)指二人(ren)(ren)(ren)的父親既受晉室恩寵,自(zi)己也不再(zai)是(shi)屬于自(zi)己一人(ren)(ren)(ren),其后(hou)(hou)(hou)代也是(shi)一樣。如此二人(ren)(ren)(ren)皆逼不得已而接受任(ren)命。及后(hou)(hou)(hou)王(wang)導(dao)以(yi)病(bing)不上(shang)朝(chao),卻私(si)下為車騎將(jiang)軍(jun)郗鑒(jian)送行,卞壸(kun)便(bian)指王(wang)導(dao)徇私(si)枉法,無(wu)大(da)臣的氣(qi)節;另指御史(shi)中丞鐘雅曲解(jie)王(wang)典(dian),監察不加準(zhun)繩(sheng)。卞壸(kun)并(bing)上(shang)奏將(jiang)王(wang)導(dao)和(he)鐘雅免官,雖(sui)然最終都(dou)沒有執行,但都(dou)令朝(chao)中震驚。
卞(bian)壸為官實干(gan),以褒(bao)貶人事(shi)為己(ji)任,并且(qie)努力工作,試圖監(jian)督(du)世間(jian),將(jiang)世道導(dao)入正軌,因而都不同(tong)意當時的風(feng)氣,因此在當時都沒什么稱譽。而且(qie)卞(bian)壸亦廉(lian)潔節儉,生活都簡約樸素。
晉安帝(di)義熙(xi)九年(413年),有(you)盜墓(mu)者盜卞壸墓(mu),打開棺木搜掠陪葬品時發現卞壸面色如(ru)同活著般,雙(shuang)手(shou)握拳,指甲(jia)更(geng)長得延展穿(chuan)過手(shou)背,(見晉書“爪(zhua)甲(jia)穿(chuan)達(da)手(shou)背”)安帝(di)下詔賜予錢十萬(wan),修復其墓(mu)。

卞壸(kun),字望之(zhi)(zhi),濟陰冤句人也(ye)。祖統,瑯邪內史。父粹(cui),以(yi)清辯鑒察稱(cheng)。兄弟六人并登(deng)宰府(fu),世稱(cheng)“卞氏六龍,玄(xuan)仁無雙(shuang)”。玄(xuan)仁,粹(cui)字也(ye)。弟裒(pou),嘗忤其(qi)郡將,郡將怒(nu)訐其(qi)門內之(zhi)(zhi)私(si),粹(cui)遂以(yi)不訓(xun)見(jian)譏(ji)議,陵遲積年。惠帝初,為尚書郎。楊駿執政,人多附會,而粹(cui)正直不阿。及駿誅(zhu),超(chao)拜(bai)右丞,封(feng)成(cheng)陽(yang)縣(xian)子,稍遷至右軍將軍。張華(hua)之(zhi)(zhi)誅(zhu),粹(cui)以(yi)華(hua)婿(xu)免官(guan)。齊王冏(jiong)輔政,為侍中(zhong)、中(zhong)書令(ling),進爵為公。及長沙(sha)王司馬乂專權,粹(cui)立(li)朝正色,乂忌而害之(zhi)(zhi)。初,粹(cui)如廁(ce),見(jian)物若兩眼,俄而難(nan)作(zuo)。
壸弱冠有名譽,司兗二州、齊(qi)王(wang)冏(jiong)辟,皆不就(jiu)。遇家禍,還鄉里(li)。永(yong)嘉中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong),除著作郎,襲父爵。征(zheng)東(dong)(dong)(dong)將軍周馥(fu)請(qing)為(wei)從事(shi)中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)郎,不就(jiu)。遭本(ben)州傾覆(fu),東(dong)(dong)(dong)依(yi)妻兄徐州刺史裴盾(dun)。盾(dun)以(yi)壸行廣陵相。元(yuan)帝(di)鎮建鄴,召為(wei)從事(shi)中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)郎,委(wei)以(yi)選舉,甚(shen)見親(qin)杖。出為(wei)明(ming)帝(di)東(dong)(dong)(dong)中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)郎長史。遭繼母憂,既葬,起(qi)復舊職,累辭不就(jiu)。元(yuan)帝(di)遣中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)使敦逼,壸箋自陳曰:
壸天性狷狹,不(bu)能和俗(su),退以情事(shi),欲(yu)畢志家門(men)(men)。亡父往(wang)為(wei)(wei)中書(shu)令,時壸蒙(meng)大例,望門(men)(men)見(jian)(jian)辟,信(xin)其(qi)所執,得不(bu)祗就。門(men)(men)戶遇禍(huo),迸竄易名,得存視(shi)息(xi),私志有(you)素。加嬰極難(nan)(nan),流寄蘭陵,為(wei)(wei)茍晞所召(zhao),恐見(jian)(jian)逼迫,依下邳裴盾,又見(jian)(jian)假授,思暫(zan)之郡(jun),規得托身。尋蒙(meng)見(jian)(jian)召(zhao),為(wei)(wei)從事(shi)中郎(lang),豈曰貪榮,直欲(yu)自(zi)致,規暫(zan)恭命,行當乞退。屬華軼之難(nan)(nan),不(bu)敢自(zi)陳。軼既梟懸,壸亦嬰病,具自(zi)歸聞,未蒙(meng)恕遣。世子北征(zheng),選(xuan)寵顯望,復以無施,忝充元(yuan)佐。榮則榮矣,實(shi)非素懷。顧以命重人輕,不(bu)敢辭憚。聞西臺召(zhao)壸為(wei)(wei)尚書(shu)郎(lang),實(shi)欲(yu)因(yin)此(ci)以避賢路,未及(ji)陳誠(cheng),奄(yan)丁窮罰。
壸(kun)年九歲,為先母弟表所見孤背。十二(er),蒙亡母張所見覆(fu)育。壸(kun)以陋賤(jian),不能榮(rong)(rong)親,家產(chan)屢空,養道多闕,存無歡(huan)娛,終(zhong)不備(bei)禮,拊(fu)心(xin)(xin)永恨(hen),五內抽(chou)割。于公無效(xiao)(xiao)如(ru)(ru)彼,私情(qing)艱(jian)苦如(ru)(ru)此,實無情(qing)顏(yan)昧冒榮(rong)(rong)進。若(ruo)廢(fei)壸(kun)一人,江北便有(you)傾(qing)危(wei)之(zhi)慮,壸(kun)居事之(zhi)日功績以隆(long)者,誠不得私其身(shen)。今東中郎岐嶷自然(ran),神明日茂,軍(jun)司馬(ma)、諸參佐并以明德(de)宣力王事,壸(kun)之(zhi)去(qu)留(liu),會無損(sun)益。賀循(xun)、謝端、顧景、丁琛、傅晞等皆荷恩命,高枕家門。壸(kun)委質二(er)府(fu),漸冉(ran)五載,考效(xiao)(xiao)則不能已彰,論心(xin)(xin)則頻累(lei)恭順,奈何哀孤之(zhi)日不見愍恕(shu)哉(zai)!
帝(di)以其辭(ci)苦,不奪其志。
服闋,為世子(zi)師。壸前后居師佐(zuo)之任,盡匡輔之節,一府貴而憚焉。中興建,補太子(zi)中庶子(zi),轉(zhuan)散騎常侍(shi),侍(shi)講東宮(gong)。遷太子(zi)詹事(shi),以公事(shi)免。尋(xun)復(fu)職(zhi),轉(zhuan)御史(shi)中丞。忠于事(shi)上,權(quan)貴屏跡。
時淮南小中(zhong)正王(wang)式(shi)(shi)(shi)繼(ji)母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu),前(qian)(qian)夫(fu)(fu)(fu)終(zhong)(zhong),更(geng)(geng)適(shi)式(shi)(shi)(shi)父(fu)(fu)(fu)(fu)。式(shi)(shi)(shi)父(fu)(fu)(fu)(fu)終(zhong)(zhong),喪服(fu)訖,議還前(qian)(qian)夫(fu)(fu)(fu)家(jia)。前(qian)(qian)夫(fu)(fu)(fu)家(jia)亦(yi)有(you)繼(ji)子(zi)(zi),奉養至(zhi)(zhi)終(zhong)(zhong),遂(sui)合葬于(yu)(yu)前(qian)(qian)夫(fu)(fu)(fu)。式(shi)(shi)(shi)自(zi)(zi)云(yun):“父(fu)(fu)(fu)(fu)臨終(zhong)(zhong),母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu)求(qiu)去,父(fu)(fu)(fu)(fu)許(xu)(xu)諾。”于(yu)(yu)是制出(chu)母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu)齊衰(shuai)期(qi)。壸奏曰(yue):“就如式(shi)(shi)(shi)父(fu)(fu)(fu)(fu)臨終(zhong)(zhong)許(xu)(xu)諾,必也(ye)(ye)正名(ming),依(yi)禮(li)(li)(li)為(wei)(wei)無所據。若(ruo)夫(fu)(fu)(fu)有(you)命,須(xu)顯(xian)七(qi)出(chu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)責(ze),當(dang)存(cun)時棄之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),無緣以(yi)(yi)(yi)絕(jue)(jue)(jue)義(yi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)妻留家(jia)制服(fu)。若(ruo)式(shi)(shi)(shi)父(fu)(fu)(fu)(fu)臨困謬(miu)亂,使去留自(zi)(zi)由(you)者(zhe),此(ci)必為(wei)(wei)相要(yao)以(yi)(yi)(yi)非(fei)(fei)禮(li)(li)(li),則(ze)存(cun)亡無所得從,式(shi)(shi)(shi)宜正之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)以(yi)(yi)(yi)禮(li)(li)(li)。魏顆(ke)父(fu)(fu)(fu)(fu)命不(bu)從其(qi)(qi)(qi)亂,陳乾昔欲以(yi)(yi)(yi)二婢子(zi)(zi)殉,其(qi)(qi)(qi)子(zi)(zi)以(yi)(yi)(yi)非(fei)(fei)禮(li)(li)(li)不(bu)從,《春(chun)秋》、《禮(li)(li)(li)記》善之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。并以(yi)(yi)(yi)妾勝,猶正以(yi)(yi)(yi)禮(li)(li)(li),況其(qi)(qi)(qi)母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu)乎(hu)!式(shi)(shi)(shi)母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu)于(yu)(yu)夫(fu)(fu)(fu),生(sheng)事奉終(zhong)(zhong),非(fei)(fei)為(wei)(wei)既(ji)絕(jue)(jue)(jue)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)妻。夫(fu)(fu)(fu)亡制服(fu),不(bu)為(wei)(wei)無義(yi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)婦。自(zi)(zi)云(yun)守節(jie),非(fei)(fei)為(wei)(wei)更(geng)(geng)嫁。離絕(jue)(jue)(jue)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)斷,在(zai)夫(fu)(fu)(fu)沒(mei)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)后。夫(fu)(fu)(fu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)既(ji)沒(mei),是其(qi)(qi)(qi)從子(zi)(zi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)日(ri),而(er)(er)(er)式(shi)(shi)(shi)以(yi)(yi)(yi)為(wei)(wei)出(chu)母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu),此(ci)母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu)以(yi)(yi)(yi)子(zi)(zi)出(chu)也(ye)(ye)。致使存(cun)無所容(rong)居(ju)(ju),沒(mei)無所托也(ye)(ye)。寄(ji)(ji)命于(yu)(yu)他人之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)門(men)(men),埋尸于(yu)(yu)無名(ming)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)冢。若(ruo)式(shi)(shi)(shi)父(fu)(fu)(fu)(fu)亡后,母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu)尋(xun)沒(mei)于(yu)(yu)式(shi)(shi)(shi)家(jia),必不(bu)以(yi)(yi)(yi)為(wei)(wei)出(chu)母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu)明矣(yi)。許(xu)(xu)諾之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)命一耳,以(yi)(yi)(yi)為(wei)(wei)母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu)于(yu)(yu)同居(ju)(ju)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)時,至(zhi)(zhi)沒(mei)前(qian)(qian)子(zi)(zi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)門(men)(men)而(er)(er)(er)不(bu)以(yi)(yi)(yi)為(wei)(wei)母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu),此(ci)為(wei)(wei)制離絕(jue)(jue)(jue)于(yu)(yu)二居(ju)(ju),裁(cai)出(chu)否于(yu)(yu)意斷。離絕(jue)(jue)(jue)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)斷,非(fei)(fei)式(shi)(shi)(shi)而(er)(er)(er)誰!假(jia)(jia)使二門(men)(men)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)子(zi)(zi)皆此(ci)母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)生(sheng),母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu)戀前(qian)(qian)子(zi)(zi),求(qiu)去求(qiu)絕(jue)(jue)(jue),非(fei)(fei)禮(li)(li)(li)于(yu)(yu)后家(jia),還反又(you)非(fei)(fei)禮(li)(li)(li)于(yu)(yu)前(qian)(qian)門(men)(men),去不(bu)可(ke)去,還不(bu)可(ke)還,則(ze)為(wei)(wei)無寄(ji)(ji)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)人也(ye)(ye)。式(shi)(shi)(shi)必內(nei)盡匡(kuang)諫,外(wai)極防(fang)閑(xian),不(bu)絕(jue)(jue)(jue)明矣(yi)。何至(zhi)(zhi)守不(bu)移于(yu)(yu)至(zhi)(zhi)親(qin),略(lve)情禮(li)(li)(li)于(yu)(yu)假(jia)(jia)繼(ji)乎(hu)!繼(ji)母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu)如母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu),圣人之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)教。式(shi)(shi)(shi)為(wei)(wei)國士(shi),閏門(men)(men)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)內(nei)犯禮(li)(li)(li)違(wei)(wei)義(yi),開辟未有(you),于(yu)(yu)父(fu)(fu)(fu)(fu)則(ze)無追亡之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)善,于(yu)(yu)母(mu)(mu)(mu)(mu)則(ze)無孝敬之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)道,存(cun)則(ze)去留自(zi)(zi)由(you),亡則(ze)合葬路人,可(ke)謂生(sheng)事不(bu)以(yi)(yi)(yi)禮(li)(li)(li),死葬不(bu)以(yi)(yi)(yi)禮(li)(li)(li)者(zhe)也(ye)(ye)。虧損世教,不(bu)可(ke)以(yi)(yi)(yi)居(ju)(ju)人倫詮正之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)任(ren)。案侍中(zhong)、司徒、臨潁公組敷(fu)宣五教,實在(zai)任(ren)人,而(er)(er)(er)含容(rong)違(wei)(wei)禮(li)(li)(li),曾不(bu)貶(bian)黜,揚州大中(zhong)正、侍中(zhong)、平望亭侯(hou)曄,淮南大中(zhong)正、散(san)騎侍郎弘,顯(xian)執邦論,朝野取信,曾不(bu)能(neng)率禮(li)(li)(li)正違(wei)(wei),崇孝敬之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)教,并為(wei)(wei)不(bu)勝其(qi)(qi)(qi)任(ren)。請以(yi)(yi)(yi)見事免組、曄、弘官,大鴻(hong)臚削爵土,廷尉結罪。”疏奏,詔特原組等,式(shi)(shi)(shi)付鄉邑清議,廢棄終(zhong)(zhong)身。壸遷(qian)吏部尚書。王(wang)含之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)難,加中(zhong)軍將(jiang)軍。含滅,以(yi)(yi)(yi)功封建(jian)興縣公,尋(xun)遷(qian)領(ling)軍將(jiang)軍。
明帝不(bu)(bu)(bu)豫,領尚書令(ling)(ling),與(yu)王(wang)(wang)導(dao)等俱(ju)受(shou)顧命(ming)輔幼主。復(fu)拜右將軍(jun)(jun),加給事(shi)中(zhong)、尚書令(ling)(ling)。帝崩(beng),成帝即位,群(qun)(qun)臣(chen)(chen)進璽,司徒王(wang)(wang)導(dao)以(yi)(yi)(yi)疾不(bu)(bu)(bu)至(zhi)。壸(kun)正色于朝曰(yue):“王(wang)(wang)公(gong)豈社稷之(zhi)臣(chen)(chen)邪(xie)!大行(xing)大殯,嗣(si)皇未(wei)立(li),寧是(shi)(shi)人(ren)臣(chen)(chen)辭(ci)疾之(zhi)時(shi)!”導(dao)聞之(zhi),乃輿疾而至(zhi)。皇太后臨朝,壸(kun)與(yu)庾(yu)亮(liang)對直省中(zhong),共(gong)參機要(yao)。時(shi)召(zhao)南陽樂(le)(le)謨(mo)(mo)為郡中(zhong)正,潁川庾(yu)怡為廷尉評。謨(mo)(mo)、怡各(ge)稱父(fu)(fu)(fu)命(ming)不(bu)(bu)(bu)就(jiu)。壸(kun)奏(zou)曰(yue):“人(ren)無(wu)非父(fu)(fu)(fu)而生,職(zhi)無(wu)非事(shi)而立(li)。有(you)父(fu)(fu)(fu)必有(you)命(ming),居(ju)職(zhi)必有(you)悔。有(you)家各(ge)私(si)其子(zi)(zi),此(ci)為王(wang)(wang)者無(wu)人(ren),職(zhi)不(bu)(bu)(bu)軌物,官不(bu)(bu)(bu)立(li)政。如(ru)此(ci)則先圣之(zhi)言廢(fei),五(wu)教之(zhi)訓塞,君臣(chen)(chen)之(zhi)道散,上(shang)下之(zhi)化替矣。樂(le)(le)廣以(yi)(yi)(yi)平(ping)夷稱,庾(yu)珉以(yi)(yi)(yi)忠篤(du)顯(xian),受(shou)寵圣世(shi),身非己有(you),況及后嗣(si)而可(ke)(ke)專哉!所(suo)居(ju)之(zhi)職(zhi)若順(shun)(shun)夫群(qun)(qun)心,則戰戍者之(zhi)父(fu)(fu)(fu)母皆(jie)當以(yi)(yi)(yi)命(ming)子(zi)(zi),不(bu)(bu)(bu)以(yi)(yi)(yi)處(chu)也(ye)。若順(shun)(shun)謨(mo)(mo)父(fu)(fu)(fu)之(zhi)意,則人(ren)皆(jie)不(bu)(bu)(bu)為郡中(zhong)正,人(ren)倫廢(fei)矣。順(shun)(shun)怡父(fu)(fu)(fu)之(zhi)意,人(ren)皆(jie)不(bu)(bu)(bu)為獄官,則刑辟息矣。凡如(ru)是(shi)(shi)者,其可(ke)(ke)聽歟?若不(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)(ke)聽,何以(yi)(yi)(yi)許謨(mo)(mo)、怡之(zhi)得稱父(fu)(fu)(fu)命(ming)乎!此(ci)為謨(mo)(mo)以(yi)(yi)(yi)名父(fu)(fu)(fu)子(zi)(zi)可(ke)(ke)虧法,怡是(shi)(shi)親戚可(ke)(ke)以(yi)(yi)(yi)自專。以(yi)(yi)(yi)此(ci)二途服人(ren)示世(shi),臣(chen)(chen)所(suo)未(wei)悟也(ye)。宜(yi)一切(qie)班下,不(bu)(bu)(bu)得以(yi)(yi)(yi)私(si)廢(fei)公(gong)。絕其表疏,以(yi)(yi)(yi)為永(yong)制。”朝議以(yi)(yi)(yi)為然。謨(mo)(mo)、怡不(bu)(bu)(bu)得已,各(ge)居(ju)所(suo)職(zhi)。是(shi)(shi)時(shi)王(wang)(wang)導(dao)稱疾不(bu)(bu)(bu)朝,而私(si)送(song)車騎將軍(jun)(jun)郗鑒,壸(kun)奏(zou)以(yi)(yi)(yi)導(dao)虧法從私(si),無(wu)大臣(chen)(chen)之(zhi)節。御史中(zhong)丞鐘雅阿撓(nao)王(wang)(wang)典,不(bu)(bu)(bu)加準繩(sheng),并請(qing)免官。雖事(shi)寢不(bu)(bu)(bu)行(xing),舉(ju)朝震肅。壸(kun)斷裁切(qie)直,不(bu)(bu)(bu)畏強御,皆(jie)此(ci)類(lei)也(ye)。
壸(kun)(kun)干實當官,以(yi)褒貶為己任(ren),勤于(yu)吏事,欲(yu)軌正督世(shi),不(bu)肯茍同(tong)時(shi)好。然性(xing)不(bu)弘(hong)(hong)裕,才(cai)不(bu)副意,故為諸(zhu)名士(shi)所少,而(er)無(wu)卓爾優譽(yu)。明(ming)帝深器之,于(yu)諸(zhu)大臣(chen)而(er)最任(ren)職。阮孚每(mei)謂(wei)之曰(yue)(yue)(yue);“卿恒無(wu)閑泰,常如含瓦石,不(bu)亦勞(lao)乎?”壸(kun)(kun)曰(yue)(yue)(yue):“諸(zhu)君以(yi)道(dao)德恢弘(hong)(hong),風流相尚,執鄙(bi)吝(lin)者,非壸(kun)(kun)而(er)誰!”時(shi)貴游子弟多慕王(wang)澄(cheng)、謝鯤為達,壸(kun)(kun)厲色于(yu)朝曰(yue)(yue)(yue):“悖禮傷教,罪莫斯(si)甚(shen)!中朝傾覆,實由于(yu)此(ci)。”欲(yu)奏推之。王(wang)導、庾亮(liang)不(bu)從,乃止,然而(er)聞者莫不(bu)折節。時(shi)王(wang)導以(yi)勛德輔政,成帝每(mei)幸其宅,嘗拜(bai)導婦曹氏。侍(shi)中孔(kong)坦密(mi)表不(bu)宜(yi)拜(bai)。導聞之曰(yue)(yue)(yue):“王(wang)茂弘(hong)(hong)駑疴耳,若卞望之之巖巖,刁玄亮(liang)之察(cha)(cha)察(cha)(cha),戴若思之峰岠,當敢爾邪!”壸(kun)(kun)廉潔儉素,居甚(shen)貧約(yue)。息當婚(hun),詔特賜錢五十萬,固(gu)辭(ci)不(bu)受。后患(huan)面創(chuang),累乞解(jie)職。
拜(bai)光祿大(da)夫,加散騎(qi)常侍。時(shi)庾亮(liang)將征(zheng)蘇峻(jun),言(yan)于朝(chao)曰:“峻(jun)狼子(zi)野心,終必為(wei)(wei)亂。當下(xia)征(zheng)之(zhi),縱(zong)不(bu)(bu)順命,為(wei)(wei)禍(huo)猶(you)淺。若(ruo)復經年,為(wei)(wei)惡(e)滋蔓(man),不(bu)(bu)可(ke)復制。此(ci)是朝(chao)錯(cuo)勸漢景(jing)帝早(zao)削(xue)七(qi)國(guo)事(shi)(shi)也(ye)。”當時(shi)議(yi)者無以易(yi)之(zhi)。壸(kun)(kun)固爭(zheng),謂(wei)亮(liang)曰:“峻(jun)擁強兵(bing)(bing),多藏無賴,且逼近京邑,路不(bu)(bu)終朝(chao),一旦有變,易(yi)為(wei)(wei)蹉(cuo)跌(die)。宜深思遠慮,恐(kong)未可(ke)倉卒。”亮(liang)不(bu)(bu)納(na)。壸(kun)(kun)知(zhi)必敗(bai),與平南將軍(jun)溫嶠書曰:“元(yuan)規召峻(jun)意定,懷此(ci)於邑。溫生足下(xia),柰此(ci)事(shi)(shi)何(he)!吾今(jin)所(suo)慮,是國(guo)之(zhi)大(da)事(shi)(shi),且峻(jun)已出(chu)狂(kuang)意,而召之(zhi)更(geng)速,必縱(zong)其群(qun)惡(e)以向朝(chao)廷(ting)。朝(chao)廷(ting)威(wei)力誠桓(huan)(huan)桓(huan)(huan),交須(xu)接鋒履刃(ren),尚不(bu)(bu)知(zhi)便可(ke)即擒(qin)不(bu)(bu)?王公亦(yi)同(tong)此(ci)情。吾與之(zhi)爭(zheng)甚懇切,不(bu)(bu)能如之(zhi)何(he)。本(ben)出(chu)足下(xia)為(wei)(wei)外籓任,而今(jin)恨出(chu)足下(xia)在(zai)外。若(ruo)卿在(zai)內俱諫,必當相從。今(jin)內外戒嚴,四方有備(bei),峻(jun)兇狂(kuang)必無所(suo)至耳,恐(kong)不(bu)(bu)能使無傷,如何(he)?”壸(kun)(kun)司馬(ma)任臺勸壸(kun)(kun)宜畜良馬(ma),以備(bei)不(bu)(bu)虞。壸(kun)(kun)笑曰:“以順逆(ni)論之(zhi),理(li)無不(bu)(bu)濟。若(ruo)萬一不(bu)(bu)然(ran),豈須(xu)馬(ma)哉(zai)!”峻(jun)果稱兵(bing)(bing)。壸(kun)(kun)復為(wei)(wei)尚書令、右將軍(jun)、領右衛(wei)將軍(jun),余官如故。
峻(jun)(jun)至東陵口,詔(zhao)以(yi)壸(kun)都督(du)大(da)桁(heng)東諸軍(jun)事、假節,復加領軍(jun)將(jiang)軍(jun)、給事中,壸(kun)率郭默、趙胤等與峻(jun)(jun)大(da)戰(zhan)于(yu)西(xi)陵,為峻(jun)(jun)所破。壸(kun)與鐘雅皆退還,死傷者(zhe)以(yi)千(qian)數。壸(kun)、雅并(bing)還節,詣闕謝罪。峻(jun)(jun)進(jin)攻(gong)青溪,壸(kun)與諸軍(jun)距擊,不(bu)能禁。賊(zei)(zei)放火燒宮(gong)寺,六軍(jun)敗績。壸(kun)時(shi)發背創,猶未合,力(li)疾而戰(zhan),率厲散眾(zhong)及(ji)左(zuo)右(you)吏數百人(ren),攻(gong)賊(zei)(zei)麾下(xia),苦戰(zhan),遂(sui)死之,時(shi)年(nian)四十八。二子(zi)眕、盱見父沒,相(xiang)隨赴(fu)賊(zei)(zei),同時(shi)見害。
峻(jun)(jun)平,朝(chao)議(yi)贈(zeng)壸(kun)(kun)左光祿大夫(fu),加(jia)散騎常侍。尚書郎弘訥(ne)議(yi)以(yi)為“死(si)(si)事(shi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)臣(chen)(chen)古今所重(zhong)(zhong),卞令忠(zhong)貞(zhen)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)節(jie),當(dang)書于竹帛。今之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)追贈(zeng),實未副眾望,謂(wei)宜加(jia)鼎司之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)號,以(yi)旌忠(zhong)烈之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)勛”。司徒(tu)王導(dao)見議(yi),進贈(zeng)驃騎將軍,加(jia)侍中。訥(ne)重(zhong)(zhong)議(yi)曰(yue):“夫(fu)事(shi)親(qin)莫(mo)大于孝(xiao)(xiao),事(shi)君(jun)莫(mo)尚于忠(zhong)。唯孝(xiao)(xiao)也(ye)(ye),故(gu)能(neng)盡(jin)敬竭誠;唯忠(zhong)也(ye)(ye),故(gu)能(neng)見危授命。此在(zai)(zai)三之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)大節(jie),臣(chen)(chen)子(zi)(zi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)極行也(ye)(ye)。案(an)壸(kun)(kun)委質(zhi)三朝(chao),盡(jin)規翼亮,遭世(shi)險難,存亡以(yi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。受(shou)顧(gu)托之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)重(zhong)(zhong),居端右之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)任,擁衛至尊,則(ze)有保傅之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)恩(en);正色在(zai)(zai)朝(chao),則(ze)有匪躬(gong)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)節(jie)。賊峻(jun)(jun)造逆,戮力致討,身當(dang)矢旝,再(zai)對賊鋒,父(fu)子(zi)(zi)并命,可謂(wei)破家為國,守死(si)(si)勤事(shi)。昔許男疾終,猶蒙二(er)等之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)贈(zeng),況壸(kun)(kun)伏(fu)節(jie)國難者乎(hu)!夫(fu)賞疑從重(zhong)(zhong),況在(zai)(zai)不疑!謂(wei)可上準許穆(mu),下同嵇紹,則(ze)允合典謨(mo),克(ke)厭眾望。”于是改贈(zeng)壸(kun)(kun)侍中、驃騎將軍、開府儀同三司,謚曰(yue)忠(zhong)貞(zhen),祠(ci)以(yi)太(tai)牢。贈(zeng)世(shi)子(zi)(zi)眕(zhen)散騎侍郎,眕(zhen)弟盱奉(feng)車都尉。珍(zhen)母裴(pei)氏撫(fu)二(er)子(zi)(zi)尸哭曰(yue):“父(fu)為忠(zhong)臣(chen)(chen),汝為孝(xiao)(xiao)子(zi)(zi),夫(fu)何恨乎(hu)!”征(zheng)士翟(zhai)湯聞之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)嘆曰(yue):“父(fu)死(si)(si)于君(jun),子(zi)(zi)死(si)(si)于父(fu),忠(zhong)孝(xiao)(xiao)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)道,萃于一門(men)。”眕(zhen)子(zi)(zi)誕(dan)嗣(si)。
咸康六年,成帝追思壸,下(xia)詔曰(yue):“壸立朝忠(zhong)恪,喪(sang)身兇寇,所封懸(xuan)遠,租(zu)秩薄少,妻(qi)息不瞻(zhan),以為慨然!可給實口(kou)廩。”其后盜(dao)發壸墓(mu),尸僵,鬢(bin)發蒼白(bai),面如生,兩手悉拳,爪甲穿達手背。安(an)帝詔給錢十萬,以修塋兆。
