據廟(miao)(miao)內元(yuan)元(yuan)統二年(1334)重修(xiu)碑(bei)記載,該廟(miao)(miao)創建(jian)于隋代(dai),北宋初重建(jian)圣母(mu)殿,建(jian)中靖國(guo)元(yuan)年(1101)重修(xiu)。明崇禎五年(1632)進行了建(jian)廟(miao)(miao)以來(lai)規模大(da)的一次維修(xiu)。清代(dai)乃至民國(guo)年間亦多次修(xiu)繕(shan)。
廟(miao)座(zuo)北(bei)向(xiang)南,為一進院。南北(bei)較短(duan),東西較寬。前有(you)山門戲樓,中為獻亭,北(bei)為圣(sheng)母(mu)殿。兩(liang)則配以耳殿。
東西(xi)院現存李靖(jing)王殿(dian)(dian)、三(san)(san)宮(gong)殿(dian)(dian)、閻君殿(dian)(dian)、十帥殿(dian)(dian)、關公殿(dian)(dian)、子孫殿(dian)(dian)及梳妝(zhuang)樓(lou)等建(jian)(jian)筑。殿(dian)(dian)宇錯落有致(zhi),殿(dian)(dian)頂(ding)形(xing)制各異(yi)。廟(miao)南、北、西(xi)三(san)(san)面(mian)懸壁(bi)劈立,溝壑縱(zong)橫(heng),東面(mian)與(yu)場院相連。山(shan)門(men)戲樓(lou)之前(qian)為一條形(xing)平臺(tai),臺(tai)下為青(qing)石(shi)拱(gong)券的三(san)(san)孔石(shi)窯,南向排列,67級(ji)青(qing)石(shi)踏跺(duo)呈45°斜面(mian)壘砌而(er)(er)上,可直達山(shan)門(men)。山(shan)門(men)門(men)洞為青(qing)磚拱(gong)券而(er)(er)成,門(men)上出抱(bao)廈(sha)形(xing)懸檐(yan),筒(tong)(tong)板(ban)瓦裝(zhuang)(zhuang)修。既是裝(zhuang)(zhuang)飾構件(jian),又有遮雨避(bi)日之功效。山(shan)門(men)門(men)道從戲樓(lou)底(di)層(ceng)明(ming)間(jian)開(kai)通,底(di)層(ceng)兩次間(jian)為封閉式隔間(jian)。戲樓(lou)面(mian)闊(kuo)三(san)(san)間(jian),進(jin)深(shen)四架椽(chuan),單檐(yan)歇山(shan)頂(ding)。圓(yuan)柱方額,斗拱(gong)華(hua)麗,始(shi)建(jian)(jian)于北宋建(jian)(jian)中靖(jing)國年間(jian)。拜亭位(wei)居圣母殿(dian)(dian)與(yu)舞樓(lou)之間(jian)。高臺(tai)筑亭,四周青(qing)石(shi)壘砌,東西(xi)南三(san)(san)面(mian)出臺(tai)明(ming),設踏跺(duo)。亭面(mian)闊(kuo)三(san)(san)間(jian),進(jin)深(shen)五間(jian),廡(wu)殿(dian)(dian)頂(ding)建(jian)(jian)筑。亭內徹上露(lu)(lu)明(ming)造,梁架裝(zhuang)(zhuang)修等全部構件(jian)均(jun)為裸露(lu)(lu)。石(shi)柱圓(yuan)梁,為原始(shi)材料(liao)砍制后而(er)(er)使用(yong),尚(shang)保留元代建(jian)(jian)筑風格(ge)。亭頂(ding)灰(hui)脊灰(hui)獸,筒(tong)(tong)板(ban)布(bu)瓦裝(zhuang)(zhuang)修。
這種廡殿頂(ding)(ding)的(de)(de)建(jian)筑(zhu)(zhu)。圣母殿居拜亭之后(hou),高臺筑(zhu)(zhu)殿,廣深(shen)各(ge)三間(jian)(jian),平(ping)面(mian)近方形,單檐九脊(ji)頂(ding)(ding)。柱礎覆盆式,蓮瓣雕刻較大,檐柱側角升起較為明(ming)顯,梁架(jia)斗(dou)拱用材碩大,批竹式真(zhen)昂承托梁架(jia)負荷,五(wu)抹(mo)頭(tou)麻葉形隔扇(shan),破直棱窗裝(zhuang)修,顯得十分古樸雄渾。殿頂(ding)(ding)滿覆琉璃(li)脊(ji)獸(shou),筒板布瓦、琉璃(li)剪邊,舉折平(ping)緩。出(chu)檐深(shen)遠(yuan),四翼(yi)而飛。雖經元(yuan)、明(ming)、清歷代(dai)重修,仍不失宋(song)代(dai)建(jian)筑(zhu)(zhu)風格。東(dong)院(yuan)梳妝樓(lou),坐(zuo)東(dong)向西,廣、深(shen)各(ge)三間(jian)(jian),二層四檐支出(chu)平(ping)座(zuo),木制欄桿圍欄,四面(mian)隔扇(shan)門窗裝(zhuang)修,明(ming)間(jian)(jian)辟門,次間(jian)(jian)破直棱窗,雕梁畫棟,玲(ling)瓏剔(ti)透。重檐歇山式屋頂(ding)(ding),華(hua)麗挺拔,引人注(zhu)目,是明(ming)代(dai)樓(lou)閣式建(jian)筑(zhu)(zhu)。其余殿宇多為三間(jian)(jian)面(mian)寬,懸(xuan)山式形制,屬元(yuan)明(ming)清時期(qi)的(de)(de)遺物(wu)。
廟(miao)內(nei)(nei)現存宋(song)(song)(song)、元、明、清(qing)及民(min)國年(nian)間重(zhong)(zhong)修碑(bei)20余通,大多豎立于拜亭(ting)之內(nei)(nei)。碑(bei)文內(nei)(nei)容大都記(ji)(ji)載了創修、增建(jian)及重(zhong)(zhong)修廟(miao)堂的(de)歷(li)史沿革和主要事(shi)宜。值(zhi)得引起(qi)重(zhong)(zhong)視的(de)是:宋(song)(song)(song)、元、明、清(qing)四朝(chao)建(jian)筑(zhu)集于一(yi)(yi)(yi)廟(miao),國內(nei)(nei)現存的(de)古代(dai)建(jian)筑(zhu)中(zhong)為(wei)數不多,實屬(shu)珍貴(gui)。二是北(bei)宋(song)(song)(song)建(jian)中(zhong)靖國元年(nian)(1101)重(zhong)(zhong)修碑(bei)中(zhong)記(ji)(ji)載,在(zai)(zai)宋(song)(song)(song)代(dai)重(zhong)(zhong)修圣(sheng)母(mu)殿的(de)同時(shi)就創建(jian)了舞(wu)樓。這說明在(zai)(zai)宋(song)(song)(song)代(dai)戲(xi)劇藝術(shu)和舞(wu)蹈藝術(shu)就已(yi)經發展(zhan)到了一(yi)(yi)(yi)定的(de)程度,并(bing)且與宗教文化(hua)的(de)發展(zhan)結(jie)合在(zai)(zai)一(yi)(yi)(yi)起(qi),互為(wei)依存,共同發展(zhan)。記(ji)(ji)載戲(xi)劇舞(wu)臺的(de)碑(bei)刻,在(zai)(zai)我省及國內(nei)(nei)極為(wei)少見。目前所(suo)知(zhi)除沁(qin)縣城內(nei)(nei)關帝廟(miao)宋(song)(song)(song)代(dai)建(jian)起(qi)戲(xi)臺的(de)記(ji)(ji)載外,就數平(ping)順九(jiu)天圣(sheng)母(mu)廟(miao)了。三是獻亭(ting)作(zuo)廡殿頂形制(zhi)的(de)也尚(shang)屬(shu)少見,這是超(chao)規模(mo)的(de)設計與安排(pai)。九(jiu)天圣(sheng)母(mu)廟(miao),作(zuo)為(wei)山西(xi)省重(zhong)(zhong)點文物保護(hu)單位之一(yi)(yi)(yi),具(ju)有(you)重(zhong)(zhong)要的(de)保護(hu)與研究(jiu)價值(zhi)。
