據(ju)廟(miao)內元元統二年(1334)重(zhong)修(xiu)碑記載,該廟(miao)創建(jian)于(yu)隋代(dai),北(bei)宋(song)初重(zhong)建(jian)圣母殿(dian),建(jian)中靖(jing)國元年(1101)重(zhong)修(xiu)。明崇(chong)禎五年(1632)進(jin)行了建(jian)廟(miao)以(yi)來規(gui)模大的一次維修(xiu)。清代(dai)乃至民(min)國年間(jian)亦多次修(xiu)繕。
廟座北向南(nan),為(wei)一進院。南(nan)北較(jiao)(jiao)短,東西較(jiao)(jiao)寬。前(qian)有山門(men)戲(xi)樓,中(zhong)為(wei)獻亭,北為(wei)圣母殿。兩則配以耳殿。
東(dong)西院(yuan)現(xian)存李靖王(wang)殿(dian)(dian)(dian)、三宮殿(dian)(dian)(dian)、閻君殿(dian)(dian)(dian)、十帥殿(dian)(dian)(dian)、關公殿(dian)(dian)(dian)、子(zi)孫殿(dian)(dian)(dian)及梳妝樓(lou)等(deng)建(jian)(jian)筑(zhu)(zhu)。殿(dian)(dian)(dian)宇錯落(luo)有致,殿(dian)(dian)(dian)頂形(xing)制各異(yi)。廟(miao)南、北(bei)、西三面(mian)懸壁劈立(li),溝壑縱橫,東(dong)面(mian)與場院(yuan)相連(lian)。山門(men)戲樓(lou)之(zhi)前為(wei)一條形(xing)平(ping)臺,臺下為(wei)青(qing)石(shi)(shi)拱券的三孔石(shi)(shi)窯,南向(xiang)排列,67級青(qing)石(shi)(shi)踏跺呈(cheng)45°斜面(mian)壘砌而上(shang),可(ke)直達山門(men)。山門(men)門(men)洞(dong)為(wei)青(qing)磚拱券而成,門(men)上(shang)出抱(bao)廈形(xing)懸檐,筒板瓦裝(zhuang)(zhuang)修(xiu)。既(ji)是裝(zhuang)(zhuang)飾構(gou)件,又有遮雨避日之(zhi)功效。山門(men)門(men)道(dao)從戲樓(lou)底(di)(di)層(ceng)明(ming)間(jian)(jian)(jian)(jian)開通,底(di)(di)層(ceng)兩次間(jian)(jian)(jian)(jian)為(wei)封閉式隔間(jian)(jian)(jian)(jian)。戲樓(lou)面(mian)闊三間(jian)(jian)(jian)(jian),進深四架椽,單檐歇山頂。圓(yuan)柱方額(e),斗拱華麗,始建(jian)(jian)于北(bei)宋建(jian)(jian)中靖國年間(jian)(jian)(jian)(jian)。拜亭(ting)位居圣母殿(dian)(dian)(dian)與舞樓(lou)之(zhi)間(jian)(jian)(jian)(jian)。高臺筑(zhu)(zhu)亭(ting),四周(zhou)青(qing)石(shi)(shi)壘砌,東(dong)西南三面(mian)出臺明(ming),設踏跺。亭(ting)面(mian)闊三間(jian)(jian)(jian)(jian),進深五(wu)間(jian)(jian)(jian)(jian),廡(wu)殿(dian)(dian)(dian)頂建(jian)(jian)筑(zhu)(zhu)。亭(ting)內徹上(shang)露明(ming)造(zao),梁架裝(zhuang)(zhuang)修(xiu)等(deng)全部構(gou)件均為(wei)裸露。石(shi)(shi)柱圓(yuan)梁,為(wei)原(yuan)始材(cai)料砍制后(hou)而使用,尚保留元代建(jian)(jian)筑(zhu)(zhu)風格。亭(ting)頂灰脊灰獸,筒板布(bu)瓦裝(zhuang)(zhuang)修(xiu)。
這種廡殿(dian)頂的(de)建(jian)筑(zhu)(zhu)。圣(sheng)母殿(dian)居拜亭之后,高(gao)臺筑(zhu)(zhu)殿(dian),廣深各三(san)間,平面(mian)近方形,單檐九脊頂。柱礎覆盆(pen)式(shi)(shi)(shi),蓮瓣(ban)雕刻較大,檐柱側角升起較為明顯,梁架斗拱用材(cai)碩大,批(pi)竹(zhu)式(shi)(shi)(shi)真(zhen)昂承托(tuo)梁架負荷(he),五(wu)抹頭(tou)麻(ma)葉形隔(ge)扇,破直棱窗(chuang)裝修,顯得十(shi)分(fen)古樸雄(xiong)渾。殿(dian)頂滿覆琉璃脊獸,筒板(ban)布(bu)瓦、琉璃剪邊,舉(ju)折平緩。出(chu)檐深遠(yuan),四翼而飛。雖(sui)經元(yuan)、明、清歷代(dai)重修,仍不失(shi)宋代(dai)建(jian)筑(zhu)(zhu)風格。東院梳妝樓(lou),坐東向西,廣、深各三(san)間,二層四檐支出(chu)平座(zuo),木(mu)制欄桿圍欄,四面(mian)隔(ge)扇門窗(chuang)裝修,明間辟門,次間破直棱窗(chuang),雕梁畫棟,玲(ling)瓏剔透。重檐歇(xie)山式(shi)(shi)(shi)屋頂,華麗挺(ting)拔,引人注目,是明代(dai)樓(lou)閣式(shi)(shi)(shi)建(jian)筑(zhu)(zhu)。其余殿(dian)宇多為三(san)間面(mian)寬(kuan),懸山式(shi)(shi)(shi)形制,屬元(yuan)明清時期的(de)遺物(wu)。
廟(miao)內(nei)現存宋(song)、元、明(ming)(ming)、清及民(min)國(guo)年間重修(xiu)(xiu)碑20余通,大(da)多豎立于拜亭之內(nei)。碑文(wen)內(nei)容大(da)都記(ji)(ji)載了(le)創修(xiu)(xiu)、增建及重修(xiu)(xiu)廟(miao)堂的(de)(de)(de)歷史沿(yan)革(ge)和(he)主要事宜。值(zhi)得引起(qi)重視的(de)(de)(de)是:宋(song)、元、明(ming)(ming)、清四(si)朝建筑集于一(yi)(yi)廟(miao),國(guo)內(nei)現存的(de)(de)(de)古代(dai)建筑中(zhong)為(wei)數(shu)不多,實屬珍貴。二是北宋(song)建中(zhong)靖國(guo)元年(1101)重修(xiu)(xiu)碑中(zhong)記(ji)(ji)載,在(zai)宋(song)代(dai)重修(xiu)(xiu)圣母(mu)殿的(de)(de)(de)同(tong)時(shi)就(jiu)創建了(le)舞樓。這(zhe)說明(ming)(ming)在(zai)宋(song)代(dai)戲劇(ju)藝術和(he)舞蹈藝術就(jiu)已經發展到了(le)一(yi)(yi)定(ding)的(de)(de)(de)程度,并(bing)且與宗教(jiao)文(wen)化(hua)的(de)(de)(de)發展結合在(zai)一(yi)(yi)起(qi),互為(wei)依(yi)存,共同(tong)發展。記(ji)(ji)載戲劇(ju)舞臺的(de)(de)(de)碑刻,在(zai)我省及國(guo)內(nei)極(ji)為(wei)少見(jian)。目前所知(zhi)除沁縣城內(nei)關(guan)帝(di)廟(miao)宋(song)代(dai)建起(qi)戲臺的(de)(de)(de)記(ji)(ji)載外(wai),就(jiu)數(shu)平順九天圣母(mu)廟(miao)了(le)。三是獻(xian)亭作(zuo)(zuo)廡(wu)殿頂(ding)形制(zhi)的(de)(de)(de)也尚屬少見(jian),這(zhe)是超規模(mo)的(de)(de)(de)設計(ji)與安排。九天圣母(mu)廟(miao),作(zuo)(zuo)為(wei)山西省重點文(wen)物保護單位(wei)之一(yi)(yi),具有重要的(de)(de)(de)保護與研(yan)究價值(zhi)。
