《鶯(ying)鶯(ying)傳(chuan)》是唐代傳(chuan)奇小說,由元稹編撰。原(yuan)題(ti)《傳(chuan)奇》。主要(yao)講(jiang)述的(de)是貧寒(han)書生(sheng)張生(sheng)對沒(mei)落貴族女(nv)子崔鶯(ying)鶯(ying)始亂終棄的(de)悲劇故事。
唐貞元中,有張(zhang)生者(zhe)(zhe),性(xing)溫茂,美風容,內秉堅孤,非禮不(bu)可入。或朋従游宴,擾雜其間,他人皆洶洶拳(quan)拳(quan),若將不(bu)及;張(zhang)生容順而已,終不(bu)能亂(luan)。以(yi)是(shi)年二十(shi)三(san),未(wei)嘗近女色(se)。知者(zhe)(zhe)詰之,謝而言曰:"登徒子非好(hao)色(se)者(zhe)(zhe),是(shi)有兇行。余真好(hao)色(se)者(zhe)(zhe),而適不(bu)我值。何以(yi)言之?大凡(fan)物之尤者(zhe)(zhe),未(wei)嘗不(bu)留連(lian)于(yu)心,是(shi)知其非忘情者(zhe)(zhe)也。"詰者(zhe)(zhe)識(shi)之。
無幾何(he),張(zhang)(zhang)生游于蒲,蒲之(zhi)東(dong)十余里,有僧舍曰(yue)普救寺,張(zhang)(zhang)生寓焉(yan)。適有崔(cui)氏孀婦(fu),將歸長(chang)安(an),路出于蒲,亦止茲寺。崔(cui)氏婦(fu),鄭女也;張(zhang)(zhang)出于鄭,緒其(qi)親(qin),乃異派之(zhi)従母(mu)。是歲,渾瑊薨于蒲,有中人(ren)丁文雅(ya),不善于軍,軍人(ren)因(yin)喪而(er)擾,大掠蒲人(ren)。崔(cui)氏之(zhi)家,財產甚(shen)厚(hou),多奴仆,旅寓惶(huang)駭,不知所托。
先是張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)與蒲將(jiang)(jiang)之黨有善,請(qing)吏護之,遂不及于難。十(shi)余日(ri),廉使杜確(que)將(jiang)(jiang)天(tian)(tian)子(zi)(zi)(zi)命(ming)(ming)(ming)以(yi)總戎節,令于軍,軍由是戢。鄭(zheng)(zheng)(zheng)厚張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)之德(de)甚,因飾饌以(yi)命(ming)(ming)(ming)張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang),中堂(tang)宴之。復謂張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)曰:"姨之孤嫠未(wei)亡,提攜幼(you)稚,不幸屬師徒大潰,實不保其(qi)(qi)身,弱子(zi)(zi)(zi)幼(you)女,猶君之生,豈(qi)可比常恩哉?今俾(bi)以(yi)仁(ren)兄(xiong)禮(li)奉(feng)見,冀所(suo)以(yi)報恩也。"命(ming)(ming)(ming)其(qi)(qi)子(zi)(zi)(zi),曰歡郎,可十(shi)余歲,容甚溫美。次命(ming)(ming)(ming)女:"出拜爾(er)(er)兄(xiong),爾(er)(er)兄(xiong)活爾(er)(er)。"久(jiu)之辭疾,鄭(zheng)(zheng)(zheng)怒曰:"張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)兄(xiong)保爾(er)(er)之命(ming)(ming)(ming),不然(ran),爾(er)(er)且擄矣,能復遠嫌乎?"久(jiu)之乃至,常服睟(sui)容,不加新飾。垂(chui)鬟(huan)接黛(dai),雙臉(lian)銷紅而已,顏色艷異,光(guang)輝動人。張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)驚為之禮(li),因坐(zuo)鄭(zheng)(zheng)(zheng)旁。以(yi)鄭(zheng)(zheng)(zheng)之抑而見也,凝睇怨絕,若不勝其(qi)(qi)體者。問其(qi)(qi)年紀,鄭(zheng)(zheng)(zheng)曰:"今天(tian)(tian)子(zi)(zi)(zi)甲子(zi)(zi)(zi)歲之七月,終于貞元庚辰,生年十(shi)七矣。"張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生稍以(yi)詞導之,不對,終席而罷。
張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)自(zi)(zi)(zi)是(shi)(shi)(shi)惑之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),愿致其(qi)(qi)(qi)情,無(wu)(wu)由得也。崔(cui)(cui)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)婢(bi)(bi)曰(yue)(yue)紅娘,生(sheng)私(si)為之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)禮(li)者(zhe)數(shu)四,乘間(jian)(jian)遂道其(qi)(qi)(qi)衷。婢(bi)(bi)果驚沮,腆然而(er)(er)奔,張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)悔之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。翼(yi)日(ri),婢(bi)(bi)復至(zhi)(zhi),張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)乃羞(xiu)而(er)(er)謝之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),不(bu)(bu)復云(yun)所(suo)求矣(yi)(yi)。婢(bi)(bi)因謂張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)曰(yue)(yue):"郎之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)言,所(suo)不(bu)(bu)敢(gan)言,亦不(bu)(bu)敢(gan)泄。然而(er)(er)崔(cui)(cui)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)姻族,君所(suo)詳也,何不(bu)(bu)因其(qi)(qi)(qi)德而(er)(er)求娶(qu)焉?"張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)曰(yue)(yue):"余始(shi)自(zi)(zi)(zi)孩提(ti),性(xing)不(bu)(bu)茍合。或時(shi)紈綺間(jian)(jian)居,曾莫流盼。不(bu)(bu)為當(dang)年,終有(you)所(suo)蔽(bi)。昨日(ri)一席(xi)間(jian)(jian),幾(ji)不(bu)(bu)自(zi)(zi)(zi)持。數(shu)日(ri)來,行(xing)忘(wang)止(zhi),食忘(wang)飽,恐不(bu)(bu)能(neng)逾(yu)(yu)旦暮(mu)。若(ruo)因媒氏(shi)而(er)(er)娶(qu),納采問名(ming),則(ze)(ze)三數(shu)月(yue)(yue)間(jian)(jian),索我于(yu)(yu)枯(ku)魚之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)肆(si)矣(yi)(yi)。爾其(qi)(qi)(qi)謂我何?"婢(bi)(bi)曰(yue)(yue):"崔(cui)(cui)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)貞(zhen)慎自(zi)(zi)(zi)保(bao),雖所(suo)尊不(bu)(bu)可以(yi)(yi)(yi)非語(yu)犯之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),下人之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)謀,固難入矣(yi)(yi)。然而(er)(er)善(shan)屬(shu)文,往往沈吟章(zhang)句,怨慕者(zhe)久之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。君試為喻情詩以(yi)(yi)(yi)亂(luan)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),不(bu)(bu)然則(ze)(ze)無(wu)(wu)由也。"張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)大喜(xi),立綴(zhui)春(chun)詞二首以(yi)(yi)(yi)授之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。是(shi)(shi)(shi)夕(xi),紅娘復至(zhi)(zhi),持彩箋(jian)以(yi)(yi)(yi)授張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)曰(yue)(yue):"崔(cui)(cui)所(suo)命也。"題其(qi)(qi)(qi)篇曰(yue)(yue)《明(ming)月(yue)(yue)三五夜》,其(qi)(qi)(qi)詞曰(yue)(yue):"待月(yue)(yue)西廂(xiang)下,迎風戶半開。拂墻花影動,疑是(shi)(shi)(shi)玉人來。"張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)亦微喻其(qi)(qi)(qi)旨,是(shi)(shi)(shi)夕(xi),歲(sui)二月(yue)(yue)旬(xun)有(you)四日(ri)矣(yi)(yi)。崔(cui)(cui)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)東有(you)杏(xing)花一株,攀(pan)援(yuan)可逾(yu)(yu)。既望之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)夕(xi),張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)因梯其(qi)(qi)(qi)樹(shu)而(er)(er)逾(yu)(yu)焉,達(da)于(yu)(yu)西廂(xiang),則(ze)(ze)戶半開矣(yi)(yi)。紅娘寢(qin)于(yu)(yu)床,生(sheng)因驚之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。紅娘駭曰(yue)(yue):"郎何以(yi)(yi)(yi)至(zhi)(zhi)?"張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)因紿(dai)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)曰(yue)(yue):"崔(cui)(cui)氏(shi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)箋(jian)召我也,爾為我告之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。"無(wu)(wu)幾(ji),紅娘復來,連曰(yue)(yue):"至(zhi)(zhi)矣(yi)(yi)!至(zhi)(zhi)矣(yi)(yi)!"張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)且(qie)(qie)喜(xi)且(qie)(qie)駭,必(bi)謂獲濟。及崔(cui)(cui)至(zhi)(zhi),則(ze)(ze)端(duan)服嚴容(rong),大數(shu)張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)曰(yue)(yue):"兄之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)恩,活我之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)家,厚矣(yi)(yi)。是(shi)(shi)(shi)以(yi)(yi)(yi)慈母(mu)以(yi)(yi)(yi)弱子(zi)幼(you)女(nv)見托。奈何因不(bu)(bu)令之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)婢(bi)(bi),致淫逸之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)詞,始(shi)以(yi)(yi)(yi)護人之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)亂(luan)為義(yi),而(er)(er)終掠亂(luan)以(yi)(yi)(yi)求之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),是(shi)(shi)(shi)以(yi)(yi)(yi)亂(luan)易(yi)亂(luan),其(qi)(qi)(qi)去(qu)幾(ji)何?誠(cheng)欲寢(qin)其(qi)(qi)(qi)詞,則(ze)(ze)保(bao)人之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)奸(jian),不(bu)(bu)義(yi);明(ming)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)于(yu)(yu)母(mu),則(ze)(ze)背人之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)惠,不(bu)(bu)祥;將(jiang)寄與婢(bi)(bi)仆,又懼(ju)不(bu)(bu)得發其(qi)(qi)(qi)真誠(cheng)。是(shi)(shi)(shi)用托短章(zhang),愿自(zi)(zi)(zi)陳啟,猶懼(ju)兄之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)見難,是(shi)(shi)(shi)用鄙靡之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)詞,以(yi)(yi)(yi)求其(qi)(qi)(qi)必(bi)至(zhi)(zhi)。非禮(li)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)動,能(neng)不(bu)(bu)愧心,特(te)愿以(yi)(yi)(yi)禮(li)自(zi)(zi)(zi)持,無(wu)(wu)及于(yu)(yu)亂(luan)。"言畢,翻然而(er)(er)逝(shi)。張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)自(zi)(zi)(zi)失者(zhe)久之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),復逾(yu)(yu)而(er)(er)出(chu),于(yu)(yu)是(shi)(shi)(shi)絕望。
數夕,張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)臨軒獨寢(qin),忽有人(ren)覺之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。驚駭而(er)(er)(er)起,則(ze)紅(hong)(hong)娘(niang)斂衾攜枕而(er)(er)(er)至(zhi)(zhi)。撫(fu)張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)曰(yue):"至(zhi)(zhi)矣(yi)(yi)!至(zhi)(zhi)矣(yi)(yi)!睡何為哉?"并枕重衾而(er)(er)(er)去(qu)。張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)拭目(mu)危坐久之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),猶疑(yi)夢寐,然而(er)(er)(er)修謹以(yi)(yi)俟(si)。俄而(er)(er)(er)紅(hong)(hong)娘(niang)捧(peng)崔(cui)氏(shi)而(er)(er)(er)至(zhi)(zhi),至(zhi)(zhi)則(ze)嬌羞(xiu)融(rong)冶(ye),力不能運支體,曩時端(duan)莊,不復同(tong)矣(yi)(yi)。是(shi)(shi)夕旬(xun)有八日也,斜月晶(jing)瑩,幽輝半床(chuang)。張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)飄(piao)(piao)飄(piao)(piao)然,且疑(yi)神(shen)仙之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)徒,不謂従人(ren)間至(zhi)(zhi)矣(yi)(yi)。有頃(qing),寺鐘鳴,天將曉,紅(hong)(hong)娘(niang)促去(qu)。崔(cui)氏(shi)嬌啼(ti)宛(wan)轉,紅(hong)(hong)娘(niang)又捧(peng)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)而(er)(er)(er)去(qu),終(zhong)夕無一言。張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)辨色而(er)(er)(er)興,自疑(yi)曰(yue):"豈(qi)其夢邪(xie)?"及明,睹妝在臂(bei),香在衣(yi),淚光熒熒然,猶瑩于茵席而(er)(er)(er)已。是(shi)(shi)后又十余日,杳不復知。張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)賦《會真詩》三十韻,未(wei)畢,而(er)(er)(er)紅(hong)(hong)娘(niang)適至(zhi)(zhi)。因授之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),以(yi)(yi)貽崔(cui)氏(shi)。自是(shi)(shi)復容(rong)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),朝隱(yin)而(er)(er)(er)出,暮隱(yin)而(er)(er)(er)入,同(tong)安于曩所(suo)謂西(xi)廂者,幾(ji)一月矣(yi)(yi)。張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)常詰鄭氏(shi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)情,則(ze)曰(yue):"我不可(ke)奈(nai)何矣(yi)(yi),因欲就成之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。"無何,張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)將之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)長安,先以(yi)(yi)情喻之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。崔(cui)氏(shi)宛(wan)無難詞(ci),然而(er)(er)(er)愁(chou)怨之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)容(rong)動(dong)人(ren)矣(yi)(yi)。將行之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)再夕,不可(ke)復見,而(er)(er)(er)張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)遂(sui)西(xi)下。
數(shu)月,復(fu)游于(yu)(yu)蒲,會于(yu)(yu)崔(cui)氏者又累月。崔(cui)氏甚工刀札(zha),善(shan)屬文,求索再三(san),終(zhong)(zhong)不(bu)(bu)可見。往往張(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)自以(yi)(yi)文挑,亦(yi)不(bu)(bu)甚睹(du)覽。大略崔(cui)之(zhi)(zhi)出人者,藝(yi)必窮極,而貌若(ruo)不(bu)(bu)知;言則敏辯,而寡于(yu)(yu)酬對。待張(zhang)(zhang)之(zhi)(zhi)意(yi)甚厚,然未嘗(chang)以(yi)(yi)詞繼之(zhi)(zhi)。時愁艷幽邃,恒若(ruo)不(bu)(bu)識(shi);喜慍之(zhi)(zhi)容(rong),亦(yi)罕(han)形見。異(yi)時獨夜操(cao)琴(qin),愁弄凄惻,張(zhang)(zhang)竊聽之(zhi)(zhi),求之(zhi)(zhi),則終(zhong)(zhong)不(bu)(bu)復(fu)鼓(gu)矣。以(yi)(yi)是(shi)愈惑之(zhi)(zhi)。張(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)俄以(yi)(yi)文調及(ji)期,又當西去。當去之(zhi)(zhi)夕,不(bu)(bu)復(fu)自言其(qi)情,愁嘆于(yu)(yu)崔(cui)氏之(zhi)(zhi)側。崔(cui)已陰知將訣矣,恭貌怡聲(sheng),徐謂張(zhang)(zhang)曰:"始(shi)亂之(zhi)(zhi),終(zhong)(zhong)棄之(zhi)(zhi),固其(qi)宜矣,愚不(bu)(bu)敢(gan)恨。必也(ye)君亂之(zhi)(zhi),君終(zhong)(zhong)之(zhi)(zhi),君之(zhi)(zhi)惠也(ye);則歿身(shen)之(zhi)(zhi)誓,其(qi)有終(zhong)(zhong)矣,又何(he)必深感于(yu)(yu)此(ci)行?然而君既不(bu)(bu)懌(yi),無以(yi)(yi)奉(feng)寧。君常(chang)謂我善(shan)鼓(gu)琴(qin),向時羞顏,所(suo)不(bu)(bu)能及(ji)。今(jin)且(qie)往矣,既君此(ci)誠。"因命拂琴(qin),鼓(gu)《霓(ni)裳羽衣(yi)序》,不(bu)(bu)數(shu)聲(sheng),哀音怨亂,不(bu)(bu)復(fu)知其(qi)是(shi)曲也(ye)。左(zuo)右皆唏噓,張(zhang)(zhang)亦(yi)遽止(zhi)之(zhi)(zhi)。投琴(qin),泣下流連,趨(qu)歸鄭所(suo),遂不(bu)(bu)復(fu)至(zhi)。明旦(dan)而張(zhang)(zhang)行。

所善楊巨源(yuan)好(hao)屬詞(ci),因為(wei)賦(fu)《崔娘詩(shi)》一絕云:"清(qing)潤潘郎玉(yu)不如(ru),中庭蕙草雪銷初。風流才子多春思,腸斷(duan)蕭(xiao)娘一紙(zhi)書。"河南元(yuan)稹,亦(yi)續生《會真詩(shi)》三十(shi)韻。詩(shi)曰:

張(zhang)之(zhi)(zhi)友聞之(zhi)(zhi)者,莫不聳異之(zhi)(zhi),然(ran)而張(zhang)志亦絕矣。稹特(te)與(yu)張(zhang)厚,因徵其(qi)詞。張(zhang)曰:"大凡天(tian)之(zhi)(zhi)所命尤物也,不妖其(qi)身(shen),必(bi)妖于人。使崔(cui)氏子遇合(he)富貴,乘寵嬌,不為云(yun),不為雨,為蛟為螭,吾(wu)不知其(qi)所變化矣。昔殷之(zhi)(zhi)辛,周(zhou)之(zhi)(zhi)幽,據百萬之(zhi)(zhi)國,其(qi)勢甚厚。然(ran)而一女(nv)子敗(bai)之(zhi)(zhi),潰其(qi)眾,屠(tu)其(qi)身(shen),至今為天(tian)下僇笑。予之(zhi)(zhi)德不足(zu)以勝(sheng)妖孽,是(shi)用忍(ren)情。"于時坐(zuo)者皆為深嘆。
后歲余,崔(cui)(cui)已委身于(yu)(yu)人,張(zhang)(zhang)亦有(you)所娶。適經所居(ju),乃(nai)因(yin)其夫言于(yu)(yu)崔(cui)(cui),求(qiu)以(yi)外兄見。夫語之,而崔(cui)(cui)終(zhong)不(bu)為(wei)(wei)出(chu)。張(zhang)(zhang)怨(yuan)念之誠,動于(yu)(yu)顏色,崔(cui)(cui)知之,潛賦(fu)一章詞曰:"自従消瘦(shou)減容光(guang),萬轉千回懶下床。不(bu)為(wei)(wei)旁人羞不(bu)起(qi),為(wei)(wei)郎(lang)憔悴(cui)卻羞郎(lang)。"竟不(bu)之見。后數日,張(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)將行(xing),又(you)賦(fu)一章以(yi)謝(xie)絕云:"棄置今何道,當時且自親。還將舊(jiu)時意,憐取(qu)眼(yan)前人。"自是絕不(bu)復知矣。時人多許張(zhang)(zhang)為(wei)(wei)善補(bu)過者(zhe)。予常(chang)于(yu)(yu)朋會之中,往往及(ji)此意者(zhe),夫使(shi)知者(zhe)不(bu)為(wei)(wei),為(wei)(wei)之者(zhe)不(bu)惑。貞(zhen)元歲九(jiu)月,執(zhi)事李公(gong)垂,宿(su)于(yu)(yu)予靖安里第,語及(ji)于(yu)(yu)是。公(gong)垂卓然稱異(yi),遂為(wei)(wei)《鶯鶯歌》以(yi)傳(chuan)之。崔(cui)(cui)氏(shi)小名鶯鶯,公(gong)垂以(yi)命篇。
關于張(zhang)生的原型,舊有張(zhang)籍(文昌)、張(zhang)珙(君瑞)、張(zhang)先(子野(ye))三說(shuo)﹐皆誤。
宋代王铚在《〈傳奇〉辯(bian)證》考證張生為元(yuan)稹本人。
宋代趙令畤在《侯鯖集》第五卷,《辯傳奇(qi)鶯鶯事》中(zhong)論證
詳細。
魯迅在《中國小說史略》中說:“《鶯鶯傳(chuan)》者,……元稹以(yi)張生(sheng)自寓,述其親歷之境。”
今人(ren)吳偉斌著《元稹考論》,商(shang)榷魯迅(xun)、陳寅恪、岑仲勉等(deng)名家的權威結論,否定(ding)“張(zhang)生自(zi)寓”說(shuo)。
關于崔鶯鶯的(de)原(yuan)型,王铚(zhi)認為(wei)鶯鶯是元(yuan)(yuan)稹(zhen)(zhen)姨母鄭氏(shi)(shi)與永年縣尉崔鵬之女崔氏(shi)(shi),即元(yuan)(yuan)稹(zhen)(zhen)的(de)表妹。
近(jin)人(ren)陳(chen)寅恪從元(yuan)稹詩集一首《曹(cao)十(shi)九(jiu)舞綠鈿》,假定“曹(cao)十(shi)九(jiu)”是(shi)“曹(cao)九(jiu)九(jiu)”的(de)訛(e)誤,又說“九(jiu)九(jiu)”二字古音與鶯鳥鳴聲相近(jin),認為崔鶯鶯應是(shi)名(ming)叫“曹(cao)九(jiu)九(jiu)”的(de)“酒(jiu)(jiu)家胡(hu)”,“此女姓曹(cao)名(ming)九(jiu)九(jiu),殆亦出(chu)于(yu)中亞種族”,因“中亞胡(hu)人(ren)善(shan)于(yu)釀酒(jiu)(jiu)”,得出(chu)曹(cao)九(jiu)九(jiu)是(shi)“酒(jiu)(jiu)家胡(hu)”的(de)結(jie)論(lun)。
還有一些其它說法,今(jin)人(ren)卞孝萱在《元稹年譜》中(zhong)指出,“‘工于投機取巧之才人(ren)’元稹,怎么忽然(ran)蠢起來,把一個(ge)社會地位低下的(de)‘酒家胡(hu)’,說成自己(ji)的(de)姨妹?”。
吳偉斌(bin)在《元稹考論(lun)》和《元稹評傳(chuan)》中對《元稹年譜》、《元白(bai)詩箋證(zheng)稿》等進行糾(jiu)謬,重新考證(zheng)了元稹的(de)為(wei)人和其作品(pin),“解決了學術界(jie)關于元稹一(yi)直無法自圓的(de)諸多問題(ti)”。人物考證(zheng)至今仍無定論(lun)。
《鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)傳(chuan)》寫張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)與崔鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)戀(lian)愛(ai),后(hou)來(lai)又將她(ta)遺(yi)棄(qi)的(de)故(gu)事。起(qi)始(shi)張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)旅居蒲州普(pu)救寺時(shi)(shi)發生(sheng)兵亂,出(chu)力救護了同(tong)寓(yu)寺中的(de)遠房(fang)姨母鄭(zheng)氏一(yi)(yi)家(jia)。在(zai)鄭(zheng)氏的(de)答謝宴上,張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)對表妹鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)一(yi)(yi)見傾(qing)心,婢女紅娘(niang)傳(chuan)書(shu),幾經反復(fu),兩(liang)人(ren)終于花好月圓(yuan)。后(hou)來(lai)張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)赴京(jing)應試未中,滯留京(jing)師,與鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)情書(shu)來(lai)往(wang),互(hu)贈(zeng)信物以表深情。但張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)終于變心,認為(wei)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)是天下之“尤物”,還(huan)搬出(chu)商紂,周幽(you)王亡國的(de)例子,證明自(zi)己“德不足以勝妖孽(nie)”,只好割愛(ai)。一(yi)(yi)年多后(hou),鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)另(ling)嫁,張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)也另(ling)娶。一(yi)(yi)次張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)路過(guo)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)家(jia)門,要求以“外兄(xiong)”相見,遭(zao)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)拒絕。數日(ri)后(hou)張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)離(li)去,鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)(ying)(ying)回詩決絕“棄(qi)置今何道(dao),當時(shi)(shi)且自(zi)親。還(huan)將舊時(shi)(shi)意,憐取眼前人(ren)”。當時(shi)(shi)人(ren)們還(huan)稱贊張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)“始(shi)亂終棄(qi)”的(de)行為(wei)是“善(shan)于補過(guo)”。小說顯然是站在(zai)張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng)的(de)立場,美化張(zhang)(zhang)(zhang)生(sheng),為(wei)他的(de)薄幸行為(wei)辯護。
傳奇小說(shuo)名篇。元(yuan)稹撰,原題(ti)《傳奇》,《異(yi)聞集》載此篇,還(huan)保存(cun)原題(ti),收(shou)入《太平(ping)廣記》488卷,收(shou)錄時改(gai)作《鶯(ying)鶯(ying)傳》,沿用(yong)至今(jin)(jin),又因傳中有賦(fu)《會(hui)真詩》的內容,俗亦稱《會(hui)真記》。其篇末說(shuo):“貞元(yuan)歲九(jiu)月,執(zhi)事(shi)〔友〕李(li)公(gong)垂(chui)(李(li)紳字(zi))宿于(yu)予靖安(an)里第,語及于(yu)是,公(gong)垂(chui)卓然稱異(yi),遂(sui)為《鶯(ying)鶯(ying)歌(ge)》以傳之。”今(jin)(jin)考出是貞元(yuan)二十年(804年)九(jiu)月,元(yuan)稹將故事(shi)講給李(li)紳聽,李(li)紳作《鶯(ying)鶯(ying)歌(ge)》,元(yuan)稹寫(xie)了這篇傳奇。
《鶯(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)傳》于(yu)(yu)敘事中注意(yi)刻畫(hua)人物(wu)性格(ge)和心理,較好地(di)(di)(di)塑造了(le)崔鶯(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)的(de)(de)(de)(de)形象(xiang)。崔鶯(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)是(shi)一(yi)個在(zai)(zai)封(feng)建(jian)(jian)家庭的(de)(de)(de)(de)嚴格(ge)閨訓(xun)中長大(da)的(de)(de)(de)(de)少女。她(ta)有(you)強烈的(de)(de)(de)(de)愛情(qing)要求,但又在(zai)(zai)內心隱藏得很(hen)深,甚至有(you)時(shi)(shi)還會(hui)在(zai)(zai)表面(mian)上作出(chu)完全相(xiang)反的(de)(de)(de)(de)姿(zi)態(tai)。本來(lai),通過她(ta)的(de)(de)(de)(de)侍(shi)婢紅娘,張生(sheng)與她(ta)已(yi)相(xiang)互用(yong)詩(shi)表達(da)了(le)愛情(qing)。可是(shi),當張生(sheng)按(an)照她(ta)詩(shi)中的(de)(de)(de)(de)約定前來(lai)相(xiang)會(hui)時(shi)(shi),她(ta)卻又“端服(fu)嚴容”,正言厲(li)色地(di)(di)(di)數落了(le)張生(sheng)的(de)(de)(de)(de)“非禮之動(dong)(dong)(dong)”。數日后(hou),當張生(sheng)已(yi)陷于(yu)(yu)絕望時(shi)(shi),她(ta)忽然又采取(qu)大(da)膽的(de)(de)(de)(de)叛逆行動(dong)(dong)(dong),主動(dong)(dong)(dong)夜奔張生(sheng)住所幽會(hui),“曩時(shi)(shi)端莊(zhuang),不(bu)復同矣(yi)”。崔鶯(ying)(ying)鶯(ying)(ying)的(de)(de)(de)(de)這(zhe)種矛盾和反復,真實地(di)(di)(di)反映了(le)她(ta)克服(fu)猶豫、動(dong)(dong)(dong)搖而終(zhong)于(yu)(yu)背(bei)叛封(feng)建(jian)(jian)禮教的(de)(de)(de)(de)曲折過程。但是(shi),她(ta)在(zai)(zai)思想(xiang)上又始終(zhong)未能(neng)徹底擺(bai)脫(tuo)社會(hui)、出(chu)身、教養所加給她(ta)的(de)(de)(de)(de)精神(shen)桎梏。她(ta)仍然認為私自戀(lian)愛結(jie)合是(shi)不(bu)合法的(de)(de)(de)(de),“始亂之,終(zhong)棄之,固其宜矣(yi),愚不(bu)敢(gan)恨”。因而在(zai)(zai)她(ta)遭到遺棄以后(hou),就只能(neng)自怨自艾,聽從(cong)命運的(de)(de)(de)(de)擺(bai)布。這(zhe)又表現了(le)她(ta)思想(xiang)性格(ge)中軟弱的(de)(de)(de)(de)一(yi)面(mian)。作品中對這(zhe)一(yi)形象(xiang)的(de)(de)(de)(de)刻畫(hua),傳神(shen)寫態(tai),有(you)血(xue)有(you)肉,異常鮮明。
作(zuo)者(zhe)為了替(ti)張生遺棄崔鶯鶯的(de)(de)無恥行徑辯解開(kai)脫,竟藉其口大(da)罵崔鶯鶯為“尤物”﹑“妖(yao)孽”﹑“不妖(yao)其身(shen)﹐必妖(yao)于人”,這就(jiu)不僅使得(de)人物形(xing)像前后不統一,也(ye)造成了主題思想(xiang)的(de)(de)矛(mao)盾。誠如(ru)魯迅(xun)《中國小說史略》所說:“篇末文過(guo)飾非,遂墮(duo)惡趣。”盡(jin)管如(ru)此,讀者(zhe)從作(zuo)品的(de)(de)具體(ti)描述中卻仍(reng)然(ran)感到崔鶯鶯令人同情,而張生的(de)(de)負心,則令人憎惡。應(ying)該說作(zuo)品的(de)(de)客觀(guan)藝術效果與作(zuo)者(zhe)的(de)(de)主觀(guan)議論評(ping)價是截然(ran)相反的(de)(de)。
前(qian)語之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),后前(qian)不(bu)一,文過非飾,余有異,敢敘一二。本自非正(zheng),乃歸正(zheng)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),人道張生無情,始亂(luan)終棄。姻緣(yuan)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)理(li),父(fu)母之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)命,媒妁之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)言。父(fu)母之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)命者(zhe)(zhe),夫婦(fu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)道,崇敬(jing)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),不(bu)敢以(yi)(yi)私(si)心害法,媒妁之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)言,該無偏,以(yi)(yi)示明(ming)正(zheng)。故有八抬大(da)轎,明(ming)媒正(zheng)娶之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)意。兩者(zhe)(zhe)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)緣(yuan),本自私(si)心,何(he)敢正(zheng)堂。且后以(yi)(yi)外兄(xiong)見之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),女(nv)以(yi)(yi)否。何(he)故?蓋怨念之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)隨(sui)。后者(zhe)(zhe)當之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),妻為(wei)正(zheng),獨尊,勢比陰陽。妾,以(yi)(yi)美色(se)私(si)意財貨(huo)稱之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。兩者(zhe)(zhe)焉能并取。諸輩以(yi)(yi)情愛為(wei)夫妻之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)本,隨(sui)今,男女(nv)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)道不(bu)尊,私(si)意比離,天下(xia)彌亂(luan)。庭(ting)不(bu)正(zheng),與天下(xia)純(chun)然(ran),可乎!
