海(hai)(hai)口市(shi)瓊(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)中學(xue)創辦于(yu)(yu)1913年(nian)4月(yue)15日,系由民國初年(nian)的瓊(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)縣縣立第一高等小學(xue)發展而成,源于(yu)(yu)宋明年(nian)間的瓊(qiong)(qiong)崖“雁(yan)(yan)(yan)峰(feng)書(shu)(shu)院(yuan)”。明代(dai)名臣丘(qiu)濬(jun)和海(hai)(hai)瑞二公曾求學(xue)于(yu)(yu)雁(yan)(yan)(yan)峰(feng)書(shu)(shu)院(yuan)。雁(yan)(yan)(yan)峰(feng)原位(wei)于(yu)(yu)府城南門,原地稱(cheng)“瓊(qiong)(qiong)庠”,對面(mian)有(you)個(ge)三元峰(feng),因(yin)常有(you)雁(yan)(yan)(yan)群聚(ju)棲(qi),當時在此讀書(shu)(shu)的丘(qiu)濬(jun)便(bian)作《雁(yan)(yan)(yan)聚(ju)瓊(qiong)(qiong)庠記》。后人取名“雁(yan)(yan)(yan)峰(feng)書(shu)(shu)院(yuan)”。清朝(chao)末年(nian),由于(yu)(yu)時代(dai)思潮的沖擊(ji),科(ke)舉(ju)制(zhi)度被廢除,各地書(shu)(shu)院(yuan)相繼(ji)改為(wei)學(xue)校,雁(yan)(yan)(yan)峰(feng)書(shu)(shu)院(yuan)當時也改為(wei)雁(yan)(yan)(yan)峰(feng)兩等小學(xue)(即高等和初等小學(xue))。不(bu)久又(you)改為(wei)高等小學(xue),這(zhe)就是海(hai)(hai)口市(shi)瓊(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)中學(xue)的前身(shen)。
1911年(nian),雁峰高(gao)等(deng)小(xiao)(xiao)學(xue)(xue)(xue)在校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)長(chang)曾對顏先生的(de)(de)領導下發展迅速,規模不斷擴大,學(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)聲譽日(ri)(ri)高(gao)。1913年(nian),雁峰高(gao)等(deng)小(xiao)(xiao)學(xue)(xue)(xue)遂奉(feng)命改(gai)為(wei)瓊(qiong)山(shan)縣(xian)縣(xian)立第一高(gao)等(deng)小(xiao)(xiao)學(xue)(xue)(xue),由當(dang)時的(de)(de)瓊(qiong)山(shan)縣(xian)開(kai)明紳士張瑞鑾任(ren)校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)長(chang)。張校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)長(chang)到任(ren)不久,就(jiu)在第一高(gao)等(deng)小(xiao)(xiao)學(xue)(xue)(xue)的(de)(de)基礎上著手創(chuang)辦(ban)了(le)瓊(qiong)山(shan)縣(xian)立中(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(附設小(xiao)(xiao)學(xue)(xue)(xue)部)。張瑞鑾升(sheng)任(ren)中(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)長(chang),并確(que)定4月15日(ri)(ri)為(wei)學(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)(xiao)創(chuang)辦(ban)日(ri)(ri)。
中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)創辦初期(qi),因(yin)(yin)校(xiao)(xiao)舍緊(jin)缺,為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)解決(jue)這一困難(nan),1914年(nian)(nian)經當(dang)時瓊(qiong)(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)(shan)縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)長(chang)蔣(jiang)宗堪裁決(jue),將中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)部(bu)(bu)和小(xiao)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)部(bu)(bu)分(fen)開,中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)部(bu)(bu)暫借府(fu)(fu)城(cheng)古樓附近的(de)(de)(de)蘇泉書院為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)校(xiao)(xiao)址(zhi)。1917年(nian)(nian),為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)適應全縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)小(xiao)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)迅速發(fa)展的(de)(de)(de)需要,社(she)會上熱心(xin)教育(yu)(yu)的(de)(de)(de)人(ren)(ren)(ren)士(shi)便將小(xiao)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)部(bu)(bu)擴大(da)為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)立(li)師(shi)范學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)(附設小(xiao)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)部(bu)(bu)),在清代中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)軍游擊(ji)府(fu)(fu)遺址(zhi)建(jian)校(xiao)(xiao)舍(我校(xiao)(xiao)現校(xiao)(xiao)址(zhi)的(de)(de)(de)東側(ce))。1922年(nian)(nian),瓊(qiong)(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)(shan)縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)立(li)中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)也因(yin)(yin)蘇泉書院校(xiao)(xiao)址(zhi)窄小(xiao),難(nan)展宏(hong)圖,后經縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)教育(yu)(yu)會呈報省政府(fu)(fu)批準,于當(dang)年(nian)(nian)11月(yue)11日(ri)遷(qian)址(zhi)入(ru)瓊(qiong)(qiong)(qiong)州府(fu)(fu)舊(jiu)府(fu)(fu)署(現校(xiao)(xiao)址(zhi))。1926年(nian)(nian)2月(yue),縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)教育(yu)(yu)會長(chang)李春榮呈報經省教育(yu)(yu)廳(ting)批準,將瓊(qiong)(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)(shan)縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)立(li)中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)和瓊(qiong)(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)(shan)師(shi)范兩(liang)校(xiao)(xiao)合并。1931年(nian)(nian)師(shi)范班(ban)(ban)和小(xiao)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)班(ban)(ban)停止(zhi)招(zhao)生(sheng)(sheng),瓊(qiong)(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)(shan)縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)立(li)中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)便成為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)單(dan)純的(de)(de)(de)普通中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)。在師(shi)生(sheng)(sheng)員工(gong)的(de)(de)(de)鼎力奮斗下,學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)生(sheng)(sheng)機勃發(fa),規模不斷擴大(da)。日(ri)軍侵(qin)華期(qi)間,府(fu)(fu)城(cheng)屢遭日(ri)機轟炸騷擾。為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)師(shi)生(sheng)(sheng)安全計(ji),瓊(qiong)(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)(shan)縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)立(li)中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)曾(ceng)遷(qian)至瓊(qiong)(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)(shan)縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)龍塘墟。1939年(nian)(nian)海南(nan)淪陷,學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)被迫停課。學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)雖然停課,但瓊(qiong)(qiong)(qiong)中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)的(de)(de)(de)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)子們為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)了追求知識和真(zhen)理,仍幾個(ge)(ge)人(ren)(ren)(ren)、十(shi)幾人(ren)(ren)(ren)乃至幾十(shi)人(ren)(ren)(ren)自動聚在一起(qi),分(fen)散(san)在各(ge)地繼續學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)習,其精神令人(ren)(ren)(ren)欽佩。1945年(nian)(nian)抗戰勝利后,瓊(qiong)(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)(shan)縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)長(chang)陳哲委(wei)任陳繼福為(wei)(wei)(wei)(wei)校(xiao)(xiao)長(chang),組織(zhi)瓊(qiong)(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)(shan)縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)立(li)中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)在瓊(qiong)(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)(shan)縣(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)(xian)甲子墟招(zhao)生(sheng)(sheng)復學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)。當(dang)年(nian)(nian)11月(yue)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)從甲子墟遷(qian)至海口市西門外竹(zhu)林村的(de)(de)(de)原日(ri)偽瓊(qiong)(qiong)(qiong)崖女子一中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)校(xiao)(xiao)址(zhi)。1946年(nian)(nian)上半年(nian)(nian)又從海口遷(qian)回(hui)府(fu)(fu)城(cheng)原址(zhi)。至1950年(nian)(nian)春,學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)的(de)(de)(de)發(fa)展已具(ju)相當(dang)規模,初中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)部(bu)(bu)有76個(ge)(ge)班(ban)(ban),高中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)部(bu)(bu)有10個(ge)(ge)班(ban)(ban)。
1950年5月海南解放,瓊(qiong)山(shan)(shan)(shan)縣(xian)人民政府派員(yuan)接管瓊(qiong)山(shan)(shan)(shan)縣(xian)立中學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)。在(zai)黨和人民政府的(de)重(zhong)視下,瓊(qiong)山(shan)(shan)(shan)縣(xian)立中學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)于1951年5月改(gai)名為瓊(qiong)山(shan)(shan)(shan)中學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)。當時(shi),瓊(qiong)山(shan)(shan)(shan)縣(xian)書記兼縣(xian)長王月波(bo)極(ji)為關心(xin)并(bing)大力支(zhi)持(chi)瓊(qiong)山(shan)(shan)(shan)中學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)辦(ban)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue),學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校諸多(duo)(duo)困難得到解決,師資(zi)隊伍不(bu)斷充(chong)實,校舍每學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)期都有(you)所擴建,學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校圖(tu)書館藏(zang)書一下子增至5000多(duo)(duo)冊,各類教(jiao)(jiao)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)儀器也(ye)有(you)400多(duo)(duo)件,教(jiao)(jiao)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)質量顯著提高(gao)。1951年,海南文(wen)教(jiao)(jiao)處舉辦(ban)征(zheng)文(wen)、美術、演講和足、排、籃球(qiu)等比賽,瓊(qiong)山(shan)(shan)(shan)中學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)生均名列前茅。
1952年(nian)5月(yue)(yue),瓊(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)中(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)隨瓊(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)縣(xian)(xian)(xian)人民政府一(yi)起遷(qian)往云龍嶺腳。但由于那里嶺高(gao)(gao)地僻,交通不(bu)便,各(ge)方面條件都(dou)較(jiao)差(cha),1955年(nian)5月(yue)(yue),學(xue)(xue)校(xiao)又(you)遷(qian)回(hui)府城(cheng)原址。此后,學(xue)(xue)校(xiao)獲得了(le)一(yi)段穩定發展時期,辦(ban)學(xue)(xue)質量有明顯提高(gao)(gao)。1958年(nian)12月(yue)(yue),瓊(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)縣(xian)(xian)(xian)和海(hai)口市實行(xing)市縣(xian)(xian)(xian)合并,學(xue)(xue)校(xiao)改名為(wei)海(hai)口市第三中(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)。1959年(nian)10月(yue)(yue),瓊(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)復(fu)縣(xian)(xian)(xian),學(xue)(xue)校(xiao)又(you)復(fu)名瓊(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)中(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)。1959至1965年(nian),瓊(qiong)(qiong)山(shan)中(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)穩步發展,辦(ban)學(xue)(xue)規模(mo)、教育教學(xue)(xue)質量均為(wei)海(hai)南(nan)各(ge)中(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)首位。
1966年下半年,全國發(fa)起“文化大革命”,學(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)發(fa)展(zhan)遭受挫折。跟(gen)全國各地一樣,學(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)“停課鬧革命”。各類(lei)教(jiao)(jiao)育(yu)活動(dong)停滯(zhi),“讀書(shu)無用論(lun)”泛濫,教(jiao)(jiao)育(yu)教(jiao)(jiao)學(xue)(xue)水(shui)平嚴(yan)重倒退(tui)。1976年秋,粉碎“四人(ren)幫”,撥亂(luan)反正,學(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)重獲生機(ji)。學(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)正常(chang)的教(jiao)(jiao)學(xue)(xue)秩(zhi)序(xu)得到(dao)了恢(hui)復(fu)。1978年,學(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)被定為瓊山縣重點完全中(zhong)學(xue)(xue)。1978年開始,學(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)以“教(jiao)(jiao)學(xue)(xue)工作(zuo)為中(zhong)心”,把提高教(jiao)(jiao)學(xue)(xue)質量提到(dao)重要位置上。通過撥亂(luan)、整頓(dun),學(xue)(xue)校(xiao)(xiao)逐漸走上正確軌道,并取得顯(xian)著成績。
改(gai)革開放特別是海南建(jian)(jian)省(sheng)(sheng)辦(ban)經濟特區后,瓊山(shan)(shan)中學(xue)(xue)快速發(fa)(fa)展(zhan)。尤其是進入九十年代,學(xue)(xue)校的(de)(de)辦(ban)學(xue)(xue)得到上級政府(fu)的(de)(de)重視,瓊山(shan)(shan)市人(ren)(ren)民政府(fu)撥款支持瓊山(shan)(shan)中學(xue)(xue)辦(ban)學(xue)(xue)。校友楊茲(zi)楠、黃奕金(jin),旅港(gang)鄉親黃有雄先生(sheng),臺(tai)胞吳乾華先生(sheng),社會企(qi)業(ye)家冼篤信、符昌海、鄭先平(ping)、許(xu)振發(fa)(fa)等(deng)慷慨解囊(nang),捐資(zi)支持學(xue)(xue)校建(jian)(jian)設(she)。學(xue)(xue)校建(jian)(jian)設(she)日新(xin)月異,科學(xue)(xue)館、藝術館、乾華樓、教(jiao)(jiao)學(xue)(xue)樓、師(shi)生(sheng)宿舍(she)樓、食堂樓等(deng)建(jian)(jian)筑拔地(di)(di)而起。學(xue)(xue)校占地(di)(di)面(mian)積78畝,校舍(she)建(jian)(jian)筑面(mian)積45000多(duo)平(ping)方(fang)米,有57個(ge)教(jiao)(jiao)學(xue)(xue)班,初(chu)、高(gao)(gao)中學(xue)(xue)生(sheng)近4000人(ren)(ren),教(jiao)(jiao)職工296人(ren)(ren)(教(jiao)(jiao)師(shi)217人(ren)(ren),職工79人(ren)(ren)),其中特級教(jiao)(jiao)師(shi)4人(ren)(ren),具有中高(gao)(gao)級職稱的(de)(de)教(jiao)(jiao)師(shi)占教(jiao)(jiao)師(shi)總數的(de)(de)70%。學(xue)(xue)校教(jiao)(jiao)學(xue)(xue)設(she)施和(he)設(she)備不斷更新(xin)完善,實(shi)現了(le)廣播電視聯網。校園基本實(shi)現了(le)綠化(hua)、美化(hua)、凈(jing)化(hua)、園林化(hua)。學(xue)(xue)校的(de)(de)教(jiao)(jiao)育教(jiao)(jiao)學(xue)(xue)質量不斷提高(gao)(gao),中考(kao)成(cheng)績居全市前茅,高(gao)(gao)考(kao)成(cheng)績居全省(sheng)(sheng)前列。1989年,高(gao)(gao)中123班的(de)(de)肖燦同學(xue)(xue)在全國高(gao)(gao)考(kao)中榮獲海南省(sheng)(sheng)文科狀元(yuan)。
2001年(nian)(nian)(nian)后,海(hai)口(kou)市(shi)瓊(qiong)山(shan)(shan)中(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)有了更大(da)的(de)(de)(de)發展(zhan)。學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)以(yi)培(pei)養21世紀(ji)人才,堅(jian)持“嚴(yan)教(jiao)、勤學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)、求實、創新”的(de)(de)(de)八字辦學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)方針(zhen),以(yi)“教(jiao)人、育(yu)人、樹人” 為(wei)辦學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)指導思想,按“智德并(bing)舉、培(pei)養技能、因(yin)材施教(jiao)、確保合(he)格、發展(zhan)特長(chang)”的(de)(de)(de)教(jiao)育(yu)目標(biao)施教(jiao),全面(mian)提高教(jiao)育(yu)教(jiao)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)質(zhi)量,中(zhong)(zhong)考(kao)、高考(kao)成(cheng)績穩(wen)步上(shang)升,很多學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)生考(kao)上(shang)清(qing)華、北(bei)大(da)等名(ming)牌大(da)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue),高考(kao)成(cheng)績名(ming)居(ju)全省(sheng)(sheng)(sheng)前列(lie)。學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)整(zheng)體辦學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)成(cheng)績突(tu)出,2002年(nian)(nian)(nian)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)被海(hai)南(nan)(nan)省(sheng)(sheng)(sheng)人民政府評定為(wei)海(hai)南(nan)(nan)省(sheng)(sheng)(sheng)普(pu)通高級(ji)中(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)一(yi)級(ji)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)。2003年(nian)(nian)(nian)海(hai)口(kou)區劃調整(zheng)后,瓊(qiong)山(shan)(shan)中(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)更名(ming)為(wei)海(hai)口(kou)市(shi)瓊(qiong)山(shan)(shan)中(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue),并(bing)被定為(wei)海(hai)口(kou)市(shi)直屬(shu)重點中(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)。從此,海(hai)口(kou)市(shi)瓊(qiong)山(shan)(shan)中(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)踏(ta)上(shang)科學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)發展(zhan)的(de)(de)(de)快(kuai)車道,學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)發展(zhan)日(ri)新月(yue)異(yi)。2006年(nian)(nian)(nian)在省(sheng)(sheng)(sheng)一(yi)級(ji)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)復檢評估(gu)中(zhong)(zhong),學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)被評定為(wei)海(hai)南(nan)(nan)省(sheng)(sheng)(sheng)普(pu)通高級(ji)中(zhong)(zhong)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)一(yi)級(ji)(甲等)學(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)(xue)校(xiao)。

解放(fang)前,許多(duo)校(xiao)友(you)投身革命(ming)救國,為(wei)國家的獨立、民族的解放(fang)作(zuo)出英(ying)勇無(wu)私的犧(xi)牲和貢獻(xian)。據現有(you)材(cai)料(liao)統(tong)計,至(zhi)少(shao)有(you)幾百名校(xiao)友(you)參加了共(gong)(gong)產黨(dang)領導的革命(ming)隊伍,其中在校(xiao)時參加共(gong)(gong)產黨(dang)的有(you)10多(duo)人。在革命(ming)和建設中,有(you)10多(duo)人成為(wei)革命(ming)烈士(shi)。學校(xiao)參加革命(ming)隊伍、在校(xiao)入黨(dang)及成為(wei)革命(ming)烈士(shi)人數之(zhi)多(duo),均(jun)居海(hai)南各校(xiao)之(zhi)首。
