弘(hong)治十(shi)三年(nian)(1500)嘗(chang)為唐寅作(zuo)(zuo)(zuo)《荷池(chi)消(xiao)夏圖(tu)(tu)(tu)》圖(tu)(tu)(tu)錄于《藝林月(yue)刊(kan)》八十(shi)四期。傳世作(zuo)(zuo)(zuo)品有(you)《招仙圖(tu)(tu)(tu)》卷、弘(hong)治十(shi)四年(nian)(1501)作(zuo)(zuo)(zuo)《秋林高(gao)士圖(tu)(tu)(tu)》軸(有(you)文徵明楷書(shu)題跋)現(xian)藏故宮博物院;《漁樂圖(tu)(tu)(tu)》軸藏臺(tai)北(bei)故宮博物院;弘(hong)治十(shi)七年(nian)(1504)作(zuo)(zuo)(zuo)《織女圖(tu)(tu)(tu)》軸藏上海博物館。
其生(sheng)平(ping)按(an)(an)《吳越所(suo)見書(shu)畫錄》載:“夢晉與唐六(liu)如、祝希(xi)哲同時友善,畫更(geng)高于六(liu)如,死(si)亦更(geng)早(zao)。”言張(zhang)(zhang)靈(ling)死(si)在唐寅(yin)(1470—1523)之前(qian)(qian)。徐(xu)禎卿《新倩籍(ji)》中(zhong)有記(ji)張(zhang)(zhang)靈(ling)詩文(略),極盡悲悼哀憫(min)之情。按(an)(an)徐(xu)禎卿卒于1511年,時唐寅(yin)四十二歲,而張(zhang)(zhang)靈(ling)必卒于徐(xu)之前(qian)(qian),由此推(tui)知張(zhang)(zhang)靈(ling)生(sheng)于成化,約(yue)卒于正德初(chu),年四十左右。

余(yu)少時,閱(yue)唐解元《六如(ru)集(ji)》有云:“六如(ru)嘗與祝枝山(shan)、張夢(meng)晉(jin),大雪中(zhong)(zhong)效(xiao)乞兒唱《蓮花》,得錢沽(gu)酒,痛(tong)飲野寺中(zhong)(zhong)。曰(yue):‘此樂,惜不令太(tai)白見之。’”心(xin)竊(qie)疑焉,然不知夢(meng)晉(jin)為何許人(ren)也(ye)。頃閱(yue)稗(bai)乘中(zhong)(zhong),有一編曰(yue)《十美圖》,乃詳載(zai)張夢(meng)晉(jin)、崔素瓊事。不覺驚喜叫跳,已(yi)而潸然雨泣(qi)。此真古(gu)今來才(cai)子佳人(ren)之軼(yi)事也(ye),不可以不傳(chuan),遂為之傳(chuan)。
張夢晉,名靈(ling),蓋(gai)正(zheng)德時(shi)吳(wu)縣(xian)人(ren)(ren)也(ye)。生而(er)姿容俊爽,才調無雙,工(gong)詩善畫(hua),性風流豪放,不(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)一世。家故赤(chi)貧,而(er)靈(ling)獨(du)蚤慧。當舞勺(shao)時(shi),父命靈(ling)出應(ying)童子(zi)(zi)試(shi)(shi),輒以(yi)(yi)冠軍補弟(di)子(zi)(zi)員。靈(ling)心顧不(bu)(bu)(bu)樂(le),以(yi)(yi)為(wei)(wei)才人(ren)(ren)何苦為(wei)(wei)章縫束縛,遂絕意(yi)不(bu)(bu)(bu)欲復應(ying)試(shi)(shi)。日縱酒高吟,不(bu)(bu)(bu)肯妄交人(ren)(ren),人(ren)(ren)亦不(bu)(bu)(bu)敢(gan)輕交與。惟與唐解元(yuan)六如(ru)(ru)作忘年(nian)友(you)。靈(ling)既(ji)氏(shi),不(bu)(bu)(bu)娶(qu)。六如(ru)(ru)試(shi)(shi)叩之。靈(ling)笑(xiao)曰:“君(jun)豈有(you)中(zhong)意(yi)人(ren)(ren)足(zu)當吾(wu)(wu)偶者耶?”六如(ru)(ru)曰:“無之。但自(zi)(zi)古才子(zi)(zi)宜配佳(jia)(jia)人(ren)(ren),吾(wu)(wu)聊(liao)以(yi)(yi)此探君(jun)耳。”靈(ling)曰:“固(gu)然,今豈有(you)其人(ren)(ren)哉?求之數千年(nian)中(zhong),可(ke)當才子(zi)(zi)佳(jia)(jia)人(ren)(ren)者,惟李太(tai)白與崔(cui)鶯鶯耳。吾(wu)(wu)唯不(bu)(bu)(bu)才,然自(zi)(zi)謫仙(xian)而(er)外,似不(bu)(bu)(bu)敢(gan)多讓。若(ruo)雙文(wen),惜(xi)下嫁鄭恒,正(zheng)未知果識張君(jun)瑞否?”六如(ru)(ru)曰:“謹受教。吾(wu)(wu)自(zi)(zi)今請為(wei)(wei)君(jun)訪(fang)之,期得雙文(wen)以(yi)(yi)報(bao)命,可(ke)乎(hu)?”遂大笑(xiao)別去。
一(yi)日,靈(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)獨坐讀(du)《劉(liu)伶(ling)傳》,命童(tong)子進(jin)(jin)酒(jiu),屢讀(du)屢叫絕(jue),輒拍案(an)浮(fu)一(yi)大白。久之,童(tong)子跪(gui)進(jin)(jin)曰:“酒(jiu)罄矣。今日唐解(jie)元與(yu)祝京兆宴集虎丘,公(gong)何不(bu)(bu)(bu)挾(xie)此編一(yi)往索醉耶(ye)(ye)?”靈(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)大喜,即(ji)行。然不(bu)(bu)(bu)欲(yu)為不(bu)(bu)(bu)速(su)客(ke)(ke),乃屏棄衣(yi)冠,科(ke)跣雙髻,衣(yi)鶉結,左持《劉(liu)伶(ling)傳》,右持木杖(zhang),謳吟道情詞,行乞而前(qian)。抵虎丘,見貴游(you)蟻聚,綺席喧闐。靈(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)每過一(yi)處(chu),輒執書(shu)向客(ke)(ke)曰:“劉(liu)伶(ling)告飲!”客(ke)(ke)見其美丈夫,不(bu)(bu)(bu)類丐者,競以酒(jiu)饌貽之。有(you)數(shu)賈人,方酌酒(jiu)賦詩,靈(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)至前(qian),請(qing)屬和(he)。賈人笑之。其詩中(zhong)(zhong)有(you)蒼官(guan)、青士、撲握、伊尼四事,因指以問靈(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)。靈(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)曰:“松竹兔(tu)鹿,誰不(bu)(bu)(bu)知耶(ye)(ye)?”賈人始(shi)駭(hai)。令康(kang)詩,靈(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)即(ji)立揮(hui)百絕(jue)而去。遙見六(liu)如(ru)及祝京兆枝山數(shu)輩(bei),共集可(ke)中(zhong)(zhong)亭(ting)。亦趨前(qian)執書(shu)告飲。六(liu)如(ru)早已知為靈(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling),見其佯(yang)狂游(you)戲,戒座客(ke)(ke)佯(yang)為不(bu)(bu)(bu)識(shi)者,以觀之。語(yu)靈(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)曰:“爾丐子持書(shu)行乞,想能賦詩。試題悟石軒一(yi)絕(jue)句,如(ru)佳,即(ji)賜爾卮酒(jiu);否則,當叩爾脛(jing)。”靈(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)曰:“易耳。”童(tong)子遂進(jin)(jin)毫楮(chu)。靈(ling)(ling)(ling)(ling)即(ji)書(shu)云:
勝跡天成說虎丘,可中亭(ting)畔(pan)足酣游。
吟詩豈讓生(sheng)公法,頑石如何不點頭。
遂并毫楮擲(zhi)地曰(yue)(yue):“佳(jia)哉!擲(zhi)地金(jin)聲也(ye)。”六如(ru)覽之,大笑。因呼(hu)與共飲(yin)。時(shi),觀者(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)如(ru)堵,莫不(bu)(bu)(bu)相顧驚怪。靈(ling)既醉,即(ji)拂衣(yi)起(qi),仍執書向悟石(shi)軒氏揖曰(yue)(yue):“劉伶謝飲(yin)!”遂不(bu)(bu)(bu)別座客徑去。六如(ru)謂枝山曰(yue)(yue):“今日(ri)我(wo)輩此(ci)(ci)舉,不(bu)(bu)(bu)減晉人風(feng)流(liu),宜寫一(yi)幀,為(wei)《張靈(ling)行乞(qi)圖(tu)》,吾任(ren)繪事(shi),而公題(ti)跋之,亦千(qian)秋佳(jia)話也(ye)。”即(ji)舐筆伸紙,俄(e)頃圖(tu)成。技山題(ti)數(shu)語其后。座客爭傳玩嘆(tan)賞。忽(hu)一(yi)翁(weng)縞衣(yi)素(su)冠(guan),前(qian)揖曰(yue)(yue):“二(er)(er)公即(ji)唐解(jie)元、祝京兆耶(ye)?仆(pu)企慕有(you)年,何(he)幸識韓(han)!”六如(ru)遜謝,徐叩之,則南昌明經崔(cui)文博以(yi)海虞廣文告(gao)歸者(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)也(ye)。翁(weng)得圖(tu)諦視,不(bu)(bu)(bu)忍釋手。因訊適行乞(qi)者(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)為(wei)誰。六如(ru)曰(yue)(yue):“敝里才(cai)于張靈(ling)也(ye)。”翁(weng)曰(yue)(yue):“誠然,此(ci)(ci)固非真才(cai)子不(bu)(bu)(bu)能(neng)。”即(ji)向六如(ru)乞(qi)此(ci)(ci)圖(tu)歸。將返舟(zhou)(zhou),見(jian)舟(zhou)(zhou)已移泊他所,呼(hu)之始至。蓋翁(weng)有(you)女(nv)素(su)瓊(qiong)者(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)(zhe),名瑩(ying),才(cai)貌俱絕世。以(yi)新喪(sang)母,隨(sui)翁(weng)扶櫬歸。先(xian)艤舟(zhou)(zhou)岸(an)側時(shi),聞人聲喧沸(fei),乍啟檻(jian)窺之。則見(jian)一(yi)丐者(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)(zhe),狀(zhuang)貌殊不(bu)(bu)(bu)俗。丐者(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)亦熟視檻(jian)中(zhong),忽(hu)登舟(zhou)(zhou)長跪,自陳張靈(ling)求見(jian),屢發遣不(bu)(bu)(bu)去。良久,有(you)一(yi)童子入舟(zhou)(zhou),強挽之,始去。故瑩(ying)命移舟(zhou)(zhou)避之。崔(cui)翁(weng)乃出圖(tu)示瑩(ying),且備(bei)述其故,瑩(ying)始知(zhi)行乞(qi)者(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)為(wei)張靈(ling)。嘆(tan)曰(yue)(yue):“此(ci)(ci)乃真風(feng)流(liu)才(cai)子也(ye)!”取圖(tu)藏笥(si)中(zhong)。翁(weng)擬(ni)以(yi)明日(ri)往(wang)謁唐、祝二(er)(er)君,因訪靈(ling)。忽(hu)抱疴數(shu)日(ri)不(bu)(bu)(bu)起(qi),為(wei)榜人所促,遽返豫(yu)章。
靈(ling)既(ji)于(yu)舟(zhou)次見瑩,以為(wei)絕代佳(jia)人,也(ye)難再得(de)。遂日走虎丘偵之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),久(jiu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)查然。屬靳人方(fang)志來校士。志既(ji)深惡古文(wen)詞,而又聞靈(ling)跅(tuo)弛不羈,竟褫其(qi)諸(zhu)生(sheng)。靈(ling)聞乃大(da)喜(xi)曰(yue):“吾正苦章縫束(shu)縛,今幸免矣!顧一(yi)(yi)(yi)褫,何慮再褫;且彼能褫吾諸(zhu)生(sheng)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)名,亦能褫吾才(cai)子之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)名乎?”遂往(wang)過六(liu)如(ru)家,見車騎填(tian)門,胥(xu)尉盈座。則江(jiang)右寧藩宸濠遣使(shi)來迎者(zhe)也(ye)。六(liu)如(ru)擬(ni)赴其(qi)招。靈(ling)曰(yue):“甚善!吾正有厚望于(yu)君(jun)。吾曩者(zhe)虎莊所遇(yu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)佳(jia)人,即(ji)(ji)豫(yu)章人也(ye)。乞君(jun)為(wei)我多(duo)方(fang)訪之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),冀(ji)得(de)當以報我,此開天辟(pi)地第一(yi)(yi)(yi)吃(chi)緊(jin)事(shi)也(ye)。幸無(wu)忽忘。”六(liu)如(ru)曰(yue):“諾。”即(ji)(ji)偕藩使(shi)過豫(yu)章。時(shi),宸濠久(jiu)蓄(xu)異(yi)謀,其(qi)招致六(liu)如(ru),一(yi)(yi)(yi)博好賢虛譽;一(yi)(yi)(yi)慕(mu)六(liu)如(ru)詩(shi)畫(hua)兼扶,欲倩(qian)其(qi)作《十美(mei)(mei)(mei)圖(tu)(tu)》,獻(xian)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)九(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)重。其(qi)時(shi)宮中已(yi)覓得(de)九(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)人,尚虛其(qi)一(yi)(yi)(yi)。六(liu)如(ru)請先寫(xie)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。遂為(wei)寫(xie)九(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)美(mei)(mei)(mei),而各綴七絕一(yi)(yi)(yi)章于(yu)后。九(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)美(mei)(mei)(mei)者(zhe):廣陵(ling)湯(tang)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)靄字雨君(jun),善畫(hua);姑蘇(su)木桂文(wen)舟(zhou),善琴;嘉禾朱嘉淑文(wen)孺,善書;金陵(ling)錢韶鳳生(sheng),善歌;江(jiang)陵(ling)熊御小(xiao)馮,善舞;荊溪杜若芳洲,善箏(zheng);洛陽(yang)花尊朱芳,善等;錢唐(tang)柳春陽(yang)絮才(cai),善瑟;公安(an)薛(xue)幼端端清,善簫(xiao)也(ye)。圖(tu)(tu)詠既(ji)成,進之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)濠,濠大(da)悅(yue)。乃盛設特宴六(liu)如(ru),而別一(yi)(yi)(yi)殿僚季生(sheng)副之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。季生(sheng)者(zhe),憸人也(ye)。酒次,請觀(guan)九(jiu)(jiu)(jiu)美(mei)(mei)(mei)圖(tu)(tu)。因進曰(yue):“十美(mei)(mei)(mei)欠一(yi)(yi)(yi),殊屬缺陷。某愿(yuan)舉一(yi)(yi)(yi)人以充其(qi)數,詰朝請持(chi)圖(tu)(tu)來獻(xian)。”比(bi)持(chi)圖(tu)(tu)以獻(xian),即(ji)(ji)崔(cui)瑩也(ye)。濠見之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)曰(yue):“此真國(guo)色矣!”即(ji)(ji)屬季生(sheng)往(wang)說之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。
先是(shi),崔翁(weng)(weng)家居時(shi)(shi),瑩才名(ming)噪甚,求姻(yin)者(zhe)踵(zhong)至,翁(weng)(weng)度非瑩匹,悉(xi)拒(ju)不納。既從虎丘得張靈,遂雅屬意靈,不意疾作遽歸(gui)。思夏往吳(wu)中,托六(liu)如主其(qi)事。適季生旋(xuan)里喪(sang)耦(ou),熟聞瑩名(ming),預遣女畫師潛繪其(qi)容(rong),而(er)求姻(yin)于(yu)(yu)翁(weng)(weng)。翁(weng)(weng)謀諸(zhu)瑩,瑩固(gu)不許。于(yu)(yu)是(shi),季生銜之,因假手于(yu)(yu)濠(hao),以泄(xie)私忿。時(shi)(shi)濠(hao)威殊張甚,翁(weng)(weng)再三力辭(ci),不得。瑩窘(jiong)激欲自裁,翁(weng)(weng)復多方護之。瑩嘆曰:“命也,已矣!夫復何(he)言!”乃取笥(si)中《行乞圖》自題詩其(qi)上云(yun):
才子風流第(di)一人,愿隨(sui)行乞樂(le)清貧。入宮祇(zhi)恐無紅葉,臨(lin)別題詩當(dang)會(hui)真(zhen)。
舉以(yi)授翁曰(yue):“愿持此復(fu)張郎,俾知(zhi)世間(jian)有情(qing)癡女子如崔素瓊者(zhe),亦不(bu)虛其(qi)為(wei)一(yi)(yi)生才子也!”遂慟哭入宮。濠得(de)(de)之(zhi)喜甚(shen),復(fu)倩(qian)六(liu)如圖(tu)詠,以(yi)為(wei)十(shi)美之(zhi)冠。而六(liu)如先(xian)已取季生所獻(xian)者(zhe),摹得(de)(de)一(yi)(yi)紙藏之(zhi)。瑩既知(zhi)六(liu)如在宮中,乘間(jian)密致(zhi)一(yi)(yi)緘(jian),以(yi)述己意。六(liu)如得(de)(de)緘(jian),乃(nai)大驚惋,始知(zhi)此女即靈所托訪者(zhe)。“今事(shi)既不(bu)諧,復(fu)為(wei)繪(hui)圖(tu)進獻(xian),豈非千古罪人!將(jiang)來(lai)何面目見良友!”因急詣崔翁,索得(de)(de)《行乞圖(tu)》返宮,將(jiang)相機維挽(wan)。不(bu)意十(shi)美已即日就道,六(liu)如悔恨(hen)無已。又(you)見濠逆跡漸著,急欲辭(ci)歸,苦(ku)為(wei)濠羈縻。乃(nai)發狂,號呼顛擲(zhi),溲穢狼藉。濠久之(zhi)不(bu)能堪,仍(reng)遣使送(song)歸,杜門(men)月余乃(nai)起(qi)。過張靈時,靈已頹然臥病(bing)矣。
蓋靈(ling)自(zi)(zi)別六(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)后,邑(yi)邑(yi)亡憀,日(ri)縱酒狂(kuang)呼,或歌或哭(ku)。一(yi)日(ri)中(zhong)秋,獨走(zou)虎(hu)丘(qiu)千人石畔,見(jian)優伶演(yan)劇,靈(ling)佇視良久,忽大叫曰(yue):“爾等(deng)所(suo)演(yan)不佳,待吾(wu)演(yan)王子(zi)晉吹(chui)笙(sheng)跨鶴!”遂控一(yi)童(tong)(tong)子(zi)于地(di)而(er)跨其背,攫伶人笙(sheng)吹(chui)之(zhi),命童(tong)(tong)子(zi)作鶴飛(fei)(fei);捶之(zhi)不起(qi),童(tong)(tong)子(zi)怒,掀靈(ling)于地(di)。靈(ling)起(qi)曰(yue):“鶴不肯(ken)飛(fei)(fei),吾(wu)今既(ji)不得為天(tian)仙(xian),惟當作水中(zhong)仙(xian)耳!”遂躍入劍池中(zhong)。眾急救之(zhi)出,則面額俱損(sun),且(qie)傷股不能行(xing),人送其歸家(jia)。自(zi)(zi)此委頓枕席,日(ri)日(ri)在醉夢(meng)中(zhong)。至是,忽聞六(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)至,乃從榻間躍起(qi),急叩豫章佳人狀。六(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)出所(suo)摹素瓊圖(tu)(tu)示之(zhi)。靈(ling)一(yi)見(jian),詫為天(tian)人,急捧置案問,頂禮跪(gui)拜(bai),自(zi)(zi)陳“才子(zi)張靈(ling)拜(bai)謁”云云。已(yi),聞瑩已(yi)入宮,乃撫圖(tu)(tu)痛哭(ku)。六(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)復出瑩所(suo)題《行(xing)乞圖(tu)(tu)》示之(zhi)。靈(ling)讀(du)罷,益痛哭(ku)。大呼:“佳人崔素瓊!”隨蹄地(di)嘔血不止。家(jia)人擁至榻間,病愈甚(shen)。三日(ri)后,邀六(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)與(yu)訣曰(yue):“已(yi)矣!唐(tang)君!吾(wu)今真死矣!死后,乞以(yi)(yi)此圖(tu)(tu)殉葬。”索(suo)筆(bi)(bi)書片紙云:“張靈(ling),字夢(meng)晉,風流放誕人也,以(yi)(yi)情死。”遂擲筆(bi)(bi)而(er)逝。六(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)哭(ku)之(zhi)慟,乃葬靈(ling)于玄墓山之(zhi)麓,而(er)以(yi)(yi)圖(tu)(tu)殉焉。檢其生平文章,先已(yi)自(zi)(zi)焚(fen),惟收其詩草及《行(xing)乞圖(tu)(tu)》以(yi)(yi)歸。
時(shi),瑩(ying)(ying)(ying)已(yi)(yi)率十美抵(di)都。因(yin)駕(jia)幸榆林,久(jiu)之(zhi)未得(de)進御。而宸濠已(yi)(yi)舉兵反,為(wei)(wei)王(wang)守(shou)仁所敗,旋(xuan)即就擒。駕(jia)還時(shi),以十美為(wei)(wei)逆(ni)藩所獻,悉遣歸母家,聽其適人(ren)。于(yu)是瑩(ying)(ying)(ying)仍得(de)返豫章(zhang)。值(zhi)崔(cui)(cui)翁已(yi)(yi)捐館舍,有老(lao)仆崔(cui)(cui)恩殯(bin)之(zhi)。瑩(ying)(ying)(ying)哀痛至甚(shen)。然煢孑無(wu)依,葬(zang)父已(yi)(yi)畢(bi),遂挈(qie)裝徑抵(di)吳(wu)門,命崔(cui)(cui)恩邀六如(ru)相見(jian)于(yu)舟次。瑩(ying)(ying)(ying)首訊(xun)張靈(ling)近狀,六如(ru)愴然收(shou)涕曰(yue):“辱姊鍾情遠顧,奈此君(jun)福薄(bo),今(jin)已(yi)(yi)為(wei)(wei)情鬼矣(yi)!”瑩(ying)(ying)(ying)聞(wen)(wen)之(zhi),嗚(wu)咽失(shi)聲(sheng)。詢知靈(ling)葬(zang)于(yu)玄(xuan)墓,約明日(ri)同(tong)往祭之(zhi)。六如(ru)明日(ri)果攜靈(ling)詩草(cao)及《行(xing)藝圖》至,與(yu)瑩(ying)(ying)(ying)各橈舟抵(di)靈(ling)墓所,瑩(ying)(ying)(ying)衣輒(zhe)酹,伏地拜哭(ku)甚(shen)哀。已(yi)(yi)乃(nai)懸《行(xing)乞圖》于(yu)墓前,陳(chen)設祭儀,坐石臺上,徐取靈(ling)詩草(cao)讀(du)(du)(du)之(zhi)。每讀(du)(du)(du)一章(zhang),輒(zhe)酹酒一卮,大(da)呼:“張靈(ling)才(cai)子(zi)!”一呼一哭(ku),哭(ku)罷又讀(du)(du)(du),往復不休。六如(ru)不忍聞(wen)(wen),掩淚(lei)歸舟。而崔(cui)(cui)恩佇立已(yi)(yi)久(jiu),勸慰無(wu)從(cong),亦(yi)(yi)起去,徘徊丘垅間。及返,則(ze)瑩(ying)(ying)(ying)已(yi)(yi)自縊于(yu)臺畔。恩大(da)驚,走告(gao)六如(ru)。六如(ru)趁視,見(jian)瑩(ying)(ying)(ying)已(yi)(yi)死。嘆息跪拜曰(yue):“大(da)難!大(da)難!我(wo)唐寅今(jin)日(ri)得(de)見(jian)奇人(ren)奇事矣(yi)!”遂具棺衾,將易(yi)服斂之(zhi)。而瑩(ying)(ying)(ying)通體衫襦(ru)皆細綴(zhui)嚴密無(wu)少(shao)隙(xi),知其矢死已(yi)(yi)久(jiu)。六如(ru)因(yin)取詩草(cao)及《行(xing)乞圖》,并置(zhi)棺中為(wei)(wei)殉,啟靈(ling)擴與(yu)瑩(ying)(ying)(ying)同(tong)穴。而植碑題其上云(yun):“明才(cai)子(zi)張夢晉(jin)、佳(jia)(jia)人(ren)崔(cui)(cui)素(su)瓊合(he)葬(zang)之(zhi)墓”。時(shi),傾城士人(ren)哄傳(chuan)感嘆,無(wu)貴賤賢愚(yu),爭(zheng)來吊(diao)誄,絡繹喧豗,云(yun)蒸雨集(ji),哀聲(sheng)動地,殆莫知其由也。六如(ru)既合(he)葬(zang)靈(ling)、瑩(ying)(ying)(ying),檢瑩(ying)(ying)(ying)所遺囊中裝,為(wei)(wei)置(zhi)墓田,營丙舍,命崔(cui)(cui)恩居之(zhi),以供(gong)春秋奠掃(sao)之(zhi)役。嗚(wu)呼!才(cai)子(zi)佳(jia)(jia)人(ren),一旦至此。庶乎靈(ling)、瑩(ying)(ying)(ying)之(zhi)事畢(bi),而六如(ru)之(zhi)事亦(yi)(yi)畢(bi)矣(yi)。
而六(liu)(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)于(yu)明年(nian)仲春(chun),躬詣墓所拜奠。夜宿丙舍旁(pang),輾轉(zhuan)(zhuan)不寐,啟窗縱目,則(ze)萬(wan)樹梅花(hua)(hua),一天(tian)明月(yue),不知身(shen)在(zai)人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren)世(shi)。六(liu)(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)悵(chang)然嘆曰:“夢晉一生狂放、淪落不偶,今(jin)得(de)與崔美人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren)合葬(zang)此間,消受(shou)香光,亦差可(ke)不負矣(yi)!但將未知誰葬(zang)我(wo)唐寅耳!”不覺(jue)欷歔泣(qi)下。忽遙聞有人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren)朗吟云:“花(hua)(hua)滿山中高(gao)(gao)士(shi)臥,月(yue)明林下美人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren)來(lai)(lai)。”六(liu)(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)急(ji)起入(ru)林迎揖,則(ze)張(zhang)靈也(ye)(ye)。六(liu)(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)訝曰:“君死(si)(si)已久,安(an)得(de)來(lai)(lai)此吟高(gao)(gao)季迪(di)(di)詩(shi)?”靈笑曰:“君以為我(wo)真死(si)(si)耶?死(si)(si)者(zhe)形,不死(si)(si)者(zhe)性(xing),吾既為一世(shi)才(cai)子,死(si)(si)后豈若他人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren)泯沒(mei)耶?今(jin)乘(cheng)此花(hua)(hua)滿山中,高(gao)(gao)士(shi)偃臥時來(lai)(lai)造訪耳。”復舉手(shou)前指曰:“此非‘月(yue)明林下美人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren)來(lai)(lai)’乎?”六(liu)(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)回顧,有美人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren)姍(shan)(shan)姍(shan)(shan)來(lai)(lai)前,則(ze)崔瑩也(ye)(ye)。于(yu)是,兩(liang)人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren)攜手(shou)整襟,向六(liu)(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)拜謝合葬(zang)之德。六(liu)(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)方(fang)扶掖之,忽又有人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren)大呼(hu)曰:“我(wo)高(gao)(gao)季迪(di)(di)梅花(hua)(hua)詩(shi),乃千古絕唱,何物張(zhang)靈,妄稱才(cai)子,改(gai)‘雪’為‘花(hua)(hua)’,定須飽我(wo)老拳!”六(liu)(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)轉(zhuan)(zhuan)瞬之間,靈、瑩俱失所在(zai)。其人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren)直(zhi)前呼(hu)曰:“當捶(chui)此改(gai)詩(shi)之賊才(cai)子!”捽六(liu)(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)欲(yu)毆之,六(liu)(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)驚寤。則(ze)半窗明月(yue),闃其無(wu)人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren)。六(liu)(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)憮然,始信真才(cai)子與真佳人(ren)(ren)(ren)(ren),蓋死(si)(si)而不死(si)(si)也(ye)(ye)。因匡坐梅窗下,作《張(zhang)靈崔瑩合傳(chuan)》以紀其事。然今(jin)日(ri)《六(liu)(liu)(liu)如(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)(ru)集》中,固(gu)未嘗見此傳(chuan)也(ye)(ye)。余又安(an)得(de)而不亟補之哉(zai)。
畸史氏(shi)曰(yue):嗟(jie)乎(hu)!蓋吾閱《十美圖編》,而(er)后知(zhi)世間真(zhen)(zhen)有(you)才子(zi)(zi)(zi)佳(jia)人(ren)也(ye)(ye)。從(cong)來稗官家言,大抵真(zhen)(zhen)贗(yan)參(can)半。若夢(meng)(meng)(meng)晉(jin)之(zhi)(zhi)名,既章章于(yu)(yu)《六(liu)如集》中,但素(su)(su)瓊之(zhi)(zhi)事(shi),無從(cong)考證。雖然,有(you)其(qi)事(shi)何(he)必無其(qi)人(ren),且安知(zhi)非作(zuo)者有(you)為(wei)而(er)發乎(hu)?獨怪夢(meng)(meng)(meng)晉(jin)之(zhi)(zhi)才,目(mu)空千(qian)古,而(er)其(qi)尚論才子(zi)(zi)(zi)佳(jia)人(ren),則專以(yi)(yi)太(tai)白與鶯鶯當之(zhi)(zhi)。夫太(tai)白誠天上仙才,不可(ke)有(you)二。若千(qian)古佳(jia)人(ren),自當以(yi)(yi)文君為(wei)第一。而(er)夢(meng)(meng)(meng)晉(jin)顧舍彼取此(ci)(ci),厥后,果(guo)遇素(su)(su)瓊,毋乃(nai)思崔(cui)(cui)得崔(cui)(cui),適符其(qi)讖耶?至于(yu)(yu)張以(yi)(yi)情(qing)死(si)(si),崔(cui)(cui)以(yi)(yi)情(qing)殉(xun),初非有(you)一詞半縷之(zhi)(zhi)成(cheng)約,而(er)慷(kang)慨從(cong)容(rong),等泰(tai)山于(yu)(yu)鴻毛,徒以(yi)(yi)才色相憐之(zhi)(zhi)故。推此(ci)(ci)志也(ye)(ye),凜凜生氣,日(ri)(ri)月(yue)爭(zheng)光(guang),又(you)遠出琴心犢鼻之(zhi)(zhi)上矣。而(er)或(huo)者猶追恨(hen)于(yu)(yu)夢(meng)(meng)(meng)晉(jin)之(zhi)(zhi)早死(si)(si)。以(yi)(yi)為(wei)夢(meng)(meng)(meng)晉(jin)若不死(si)(si),則素(su)(su)瓊遣歸之(zhi)(zhi)日(ri)(ri),正崔(cui)(cui)張好合之(zhi)(zhi)年,后此(ci)(ci)或(huo)白頭唱和,蘭玉盈階(jie),未可(ke)知(zhi)也(ye)(ye)。噫!此(ci)(ci)固庸庸蚩蚩者之(zhi)(zhi)厚福也(ye)(ye),何(he)有(you)于(yu)(yu)才子(zi)(zi)(zi)佳(jia)人(ren)哉!
張靈(ling)本窶人子,力作(zuo)自(zi)給,而靈(ling)生乃有爽(shuang)氣,嗜酒醉(zui)則作(zuo)狂曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):“日休,小豎子耳,尚(shang)(shang)能稱(cheng)醉(zui)士,我獨不(bu)(bu)能醉(zui)耶!”所與游者,吳趨(qu)、唐寅最善,寅嘗(chang)擬(ni)游武丘(qiu),召靈(ling)與俱往(wang),促之(zhi),尚(shang)(shang)臥,寅抵寢所呼曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):“日高舂矣,睡何為?”靈(ling)覺,怒(nu)曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):“今者無酒,雅懷殊不(bu)(bu)啟。方入醉(zui)鄉,又為相(xiang)攪。”寅曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):“所以來(lai),固欲邀子。”靈(ling)喜,加衣(yi)起,遂與寅上舟扣舷(xian)痛飲,作(zuo)《野人歌》。會數賈(jia)飲于可中亭(ting),且詠詩,因(yin)更(geng)衣(yi)為丐者上,賈(jia)與食(shi)啖之(zhi),靈(ling)請(qing)續和。時賈(jia)所為詩有“蒼(cang)官”、“青士”、“撲握”,“伊尼”諸詞(ci),因(yin)以問靈(ling),靈(ling)曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):“蒼(cang)官,松也;青士,竹(zhu)也;撲握,免也;伊尼,鹿也。”賈(jia)始(shi)駭令賡,靈(ling)即揮毫不(bu)(bu)已,凡百絕。抵舟,命童子易維(wei)蘿陰下令跡(ji)絕。賈(jia)使人察(cha)之(zhi),不(bu)(bu)見也。皆以為神仙(xian)。賈(jia)去,復上亭(ting),朱衣(yi)金目,作(zuo)胡(hu)人舞形(xing)狀(zhuang),殊絕。
祝允明嘗(chang)偕(xie)陸濟民、張夢晉、韓壽(shou)椿登虎丘浮屠。登至(zhi)絕頂,但見(jian)八荒洞然(ran),萬籟齊發(fa)(fa),飲(yin)酒樂(le)甚。壽(shou)椿出紙筆賦(fu)詩(shi)(shi)以紀其(qi)游,允明詩(shi)(shi)先成,云(yun)(yun):“草木衣裳下(xia),煙霞掌握中(zhong)(zhong)。偶然(ran)飛咳唾,珠玉滿天風(feng)。”濟民云(yun)(yun):“極目飛鴻小,致身云(yun)(yun)路中(zhong)(zhong)。詩(shi)(shi)人少知己(ji),發(fa)(fa)付與(yu)東風(feng)。”夢晉云(yun)(yun):“慮(lv)遣塵寰外,天歸眼界(jie)中(zhong)(zhong)。新詩(shi)(shi)三(san)百首(shou),句句答松(song)風(feng)。”壽(shou)椿云(yun)(yun):“詩(shi)(shi)寄千峰抄,春橫一(yi)鏡(jing)中(zhong)(zhong)。攜壺兼荷鐘,不減晉人風(feng)。”詩(shi)(shi)成閣(ge)筆,天風(feng)颯然(ran)飄其(qi)詩(shi)(shi)草,盤旋直上太(tai)虛(xu),如神物掀舞。將擲地,又為(wei)(wei)蒼鷹(ying)所舉,竟不知其(qi)所止。遂名為(wei)(wei)“飛詩(shi)(shi)會。”
初,張(zhang)靈與(yu)唐寅俱為(wei)(wei)郡學生(sheng),博古相尚。適鄞人方志(zhi)來督學,惡古文詞,察知寅,欲中(zhong)傷之,靈挹郁不(bu)自遣(qian)。寅曰(yue)(yue):“子未為(wei)(wei)所(suo)(suo)知,何愁之甚?”靈曰(yue)(yue):“獨不(bu)聞(wen)龍(long)王欲斬有尾(wei)族,蝦蟆(ma)亦(yi)哭(ku)(ku)乎?”后靈果為(wei)(wei)所(suo)(suo)斥罷,或謂之曰(yue)(yue):“以(yi)子之才,顧不(bu)得(de)(de)激致青云(yun)(yun),乃重遭顯棄,豈無(wu)雉經之用,而何以(yi)立于(yu)世?”靈曰(yue)(yue):“昔謝(xie)豹化為(wei)(wei)蟲,行地中(zhong),以(yi)足覆(fu)面作忍恥(chi)狀。吏靈用子言,亦(yi)當(dang)如是矣。縱(zong)不(bu)爾,亦(yi)安得(de)(de)更銜鑿(zao)落耶!”靈臨(lin)終前三(san)日作詩(shi)(shi)云(yun)(yun):“一(yi)枚(mei)蟬(chan)蛻榻當(dang)中(zhong),命也難辭付大空。垂死尚思玄墓(mu)麓,滿山寒雪一(yi)林(lin)松。”后一(yi)日又作詩(shi)(shi)云(yun)(yun):“彷佛飛(fei)魂亂哭(ku)(ku)聲,多情于(yu)此轉多情。欲將眾淚澆(jiao)心(xin)火,何日張(zhang)家再(zai)托生(sheng)?”聞(wen)者(zhe)莫不(bu)悲之。
