事(shi)實上，「Seasons in the Sun」絕對(dui)不是一首愉(yu)快的(de)曲子(zi)，甚至還十分的(de)傷感。它是一位法(fa)國歌手Jacques Brel的(de)作品，原名(ming)叫做「Le Moribond」（臨終的(de)人），發表于1961年。歌曲的(de)內容大致描(miao)述一個罹患癌癥、不久(jiu)于人世的(de)男子(zi)，在面臨死(si)亡的(de)時候(hou)，對(dui)父親、妻子(zi)以及摯(zhi)友的(de)依(yi)依(yi)難舍。
再創作
Brel私交(jiao)相(xiang)當不錯的美國(guo)詩人(ren)歌(ge)(ge)手Rod McKuen，很早就(jiu)把這(zhe)(zhe)首歌(ge)(ge)曲翻譯成英文的「Seasons in the Sun」，并(bing)且在(zai)1964年由民歌(ge)(ge)界元老(lao)的Kingston Trio率先灌(guan)錄成唱片，不過當時(shi)并(bing)沒有造成太大的轟動。后來(lai)，跟(gen)Rod McKuen頗(po)有交(jiao)情的Terry Jacks把它重新(xin)灌(guan)錄，在(zai)1974年的三(san)月(yue)二日獲得(de)全美排行(xing)三(san)周冠軍，原本也沒有在(zai)中(zhong)國(guo)受到太多注意，直(zhi)到幾年之(zhi)后，才因為柯達的廣告而在(zai)臺灣(wan)造成了(le)瘋狂的流(liu)行(xing)，只可惜主(zhu)唱人(ren)Terry Jacks當時(shi)早就(jiu)在(zai)歌(ge)(ge)壇消失(shi)了(le)。這(zhe)(zhe)位男(nan)歌(ge)(ge)手留下來(lai)的歌(ge)(ge)曲本來(lai)就(jiu)不多，不過這(zhe)(zhe)首歌(ge)(ge)卻成了(le)經典——盡管他的詮釋老(lao)實說(shuo)有點失(shi)真。
新主唱歷史
來(lai)自加拿大的Terry Jacks成長于溫哥(ge)華，高中時代(dai)曾經贏得藝(yi)術獎學(xue)金，但是在建筑師、職業高爾(er)夫(fu)與音(yin)樂這三種行業中，他卻選(xuan)擇了后者(zhe)，并且自組(zu)了一支The Chessman樂隊(dui)，不過(guo)并不成功。有一次，他的樂隊(dui)應邀上(shang)電視表演，使他結識了一位(wei)漂(piao)亮的女歌手Susan Pesklevits，兩人一見鐘情，隨即結婚、并且展開音(yin)樂事業上(shang)的合作。
由于當時的(de)唱(chang)片市場上，似乎以(yi)合唱(chang)團比較吃香(xiang)，所(suo)以(yi)盡(jin)管只有他(ta)老婆一個人獨唱(chang)，他(ta)們還是(shi)(shi)決定用The Poppy Family為名，并且(qie)在1970年以(yi)獲得美國排(pai)行亞軍(jun)的(de)「Which Way You Goin' Billy」一曲成名。可(ke)惜的(de)是(shi)(shi)，這對夫妻在1973年就宣告分手了。
離婚之后，Terry Jacks繼續(xu)在(zai)歌(ge)壇奮斗。由于吉(ji)他彈得(de)不錯(cuo)，他應邀為(wei)(wei)Beach Boys伴奏。有一次(ci)，在(zai)錄音的(de)時候，他建議Beach Boys灌錄「Seasons in the Sun」這首歌(ge)。不過(guo)，錄完之后，可能是由于效(xiao)果不如理想，Beach Boys決(jue)定不發行。而(er)極為(wei)(wei)喜愛這首歌(ge)的(de)Terry則為(wei)(wei)了追悼(dao)一位意(yi)外(wai)過(guo)世的(de)好友，決(jue)定自己來灌唱(chang)。
Terry取得(de)作者的(de)同(tong)意，把最(zui)后(hou)(hou)一(yi)(yi)段歌詞稍(shao)加修改，同(tong)時以(yi)輕快的(de)節奏(zou)處理，使歌曲顯得(de)輕松一(yi)(yi)些，可是(shi)完工(gong)之后(hou)(hou)，在架子(zi)上一(yi)(yi)擺就是(shi)一(yi)(yi)年。有一(yi)(yi)天(tian)，他把帶(dai)子(zi)放(fang)出來聽，正好一(yi)(yi)位(wei)年輕的(de)送(song)報生來到他家(jia)，聽到了這首歌，于是(shi)要(yao)求是(shi)否可以(yi)帶(dai)自己的(de)朋友過來欣賞。
使Terry決(jue)定自己發行(xing)這(zhe)首(shou)歌曲。果然，這(zhe)首(shou)歌在(zai)加拿大造(zao)成(cheng)了(le)(le)(le)轟動，美國的(de)(de)唱(chang)片公司(si)也慕名而來，取得(de)(de)了(le)(le)(le)發行(xing)權。1974年三月，這(zhe)首(shou)歌不(bu)但獲得(de)(de)三周排行(xing)冠軍，更(geng)成(cheng)了(le)(le)(le)金唱(chang)片，銷(xiao)售達六百多萬張，使他名揚四海(hai)。不(bu)久之后，他又灌錄了(le)(le)(le)另外一首(shou)同樣由(you)McKuen翻譯成(cheng)英語的(de)(de)Brel作品「If You Go Away」，也得(de)(de)到了(le)(le)(le)不(bu)錯的(de)(de)成(cheng)績。可惜的(de)(de)是，他在(zai)歌壇(tan)只是曇(tan)花(hua)一現，一年之后就銷(xiao)聲匿跡了(le)(le)(le)。

“但是時間(jian)一天天過(guo)去了，B和(he)C日(ri)日(ri)相對(dui)，兩顆孤(gu)獨的心(xin)越靠越近，逐漸產生(sheng)了超越朋(peng)友之(zhi)間(jian)的那種感情(qing)，那種感情(qing)維系了兩年(nian)，而A卻(que)絲毫沒有察覺，他(ta)依舊疼愛(ai)家人(ren)，信任(ren)朋(peng)友……

“他原本(ben)可以逃(tao)往(wang)臨州免于死(si)(si)刑(xing)，但他選擇了(le)徑直去警察局，在本(ben)州審判，陪審團一(yi)致(zhi)通過他犯故(gu)意殺人罪，被(bei)判處死(si)(si)刑(xing)，于1957年(nian)2月6日執行電椅(yi)死(si)(si)刑(xing)。他被(bei)關在死(si)(si)囚牢里，離(li)行刑(xing)還(huan)有三天，一(yi)張紙和一(yi)支筆(bi)塞了(le)進(jin)來，給(gei)他寫臨終(zhong)的遺言。”
