白(bai)乳泉(quan)(quan)背依荊(jing)山(shan)(shan),面(mian)臨淮河(he),東(dong)和禹王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)廟隔(ge)河(he)相(xiang)望,西與卞(bian)(bian)和洞為鄰。泉(quan)(quan)右有(you)雙(shuang)烈祠,祠上有(you)半山(shan)(shan)亭,可俯瞰懷遠全城(cheng)。白(bai)乳泉(quan)(quan)和杭(hang)州虎跑泉(quan)(quan)泉(quan)(quan)水相(xiang)似,蘊含多種礦物質,表面(mian)張力極強,傾注于(yu)杯(bei)中,能(neng)高出(chu)杯(bei)面(mian)而不外溢,且能(neng)浮起硬(ying)幣,非常奇特。據史料(liao)記(ji)載,春秋(qiu)時(shi)楚人(ren)卞(bian)(bian)和在荊(jing)山(shan)(shan)采得(de)(de)一(yi)塊價值連城(cheng)的璞玉,敬獻給(gei)楚王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)。因宮中玉工不識寶,卞(bian)(bian)和先(xian)后以欺君之罪被楚厲王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)和楚武王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)砍(kan)去雙(shuang)足。及楚文(wen)王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)即(ji)位,卞(bian)(bian)和抱璞哭于(yu)荊(jing)山(shan)(shan)之下(xia)。文(wen)王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)被卞(bian)(bian)和的赤誠之心(xin)所(suo)動,派玉匠剖璞,終于(yu)琢成(cheng)一(yi)塊世之罕(han)寶——和氏璧。傳說白(bai)乳泉(quan)(quan)就(jiu)是從卞(bian)(bian)和的眼淚沖(chong)刷成(cheng)的石(shi)坑中流出(chu)的。白(bai)乳泉(quan)(quan)原名白(bai)龜泉(quan)(quan),相(xiang)傳唐貞元(yuan)年間(jian),泉(quan)(quan)內曾(ceng)有(you)白(bai)龜流出(chu),因此(ci)得(de)(de)名。宋元(yuan)佑七年,詩(shi)人(ren)蘇東(dong)坡與其二(er)子蘇迨、蘇過自河(he)南赴(fu)杭(hang)州過此(ci),見(jian)泉(quan)(quan)水奇特,譽(yu)為“天下(xia)第(di)七泉(quan)(quan)”,并留(liu)下(xia)《游涂山(shan)(shan)荊(jing)山(shan)(shan)記(ji)所(suo)見(jian)》詩(shi):“荊(jing)山(shan)(shan)碧(bi)相(xiang)照,楚水清可亂(luan)。刖人(ren)有(you)余杭(hang),美石(shi)肖溫(wen)瓚。
白乳泉,背依荊(jing)山,面臨淮水,卞和洞以谷為(wei)鄰。周圍峰巒疊翠,榴林(lin)似海,綠樹掩映(ying),芳(fang)草如茵,是遠近聞名(ming)的(de)天然佳境。
龜泉(quan)木(mu)杪(miao)出,牛乳石池漫······”因泉(quan)水甘(gan)美呈乳色,后人改名白(bai)乳泉(quan)。
清光緒(xu)年(nian)間(jian),鄉紳(shen)李少五于(yu)泉南建(jian)大(da)仙廟。嗣后,崇奉(feng)道教的“師呂道人”宮爾鐸(duo)棄官(guan)歸里,拆大(da)仙廟建(jian)呂祖(zu)殿,隱居于(yu)此(ci)。一九二(er)四(si)年(nian),安徽督軍馬聯甲赴亳禁煙過此(ci),捐款(kuan)于(yu)泉西北(bei)建(jian)望淮樓。
