石榴(liu)(liu),落葉喬木(mu)或(huo)(huo)(huo)灌木(mu);單葉,通常對生(sheng)或(huo)(huo)(huo)簇(cu)生(sheng),無托葉。花頂生(sheng)或(huo)(huo)(huo)近頂生(sheng),單生(sheng)或(huo)(huo)(huo)幾(ji)朵(duo)簇(cu)生(sheng)或(huo)(huo)(huo)組成聚(ju)傘花序,近鐘形(xing),裂(lie)片5-9,花瓣5-9,多(duo)(duo)皺褶,覆瓦狀(zhuang)排列(lie);胚珠多(duo)(duo)數(shu)。漿果球(qiu)形(xing),頂端有宿存花萼裂(lie)片,果皮厚;種(zhong)(zhong)子多(duo)(duo)數(shu),漿果近球(qiu)形(xing),果熟期9-10月。外種(zhong)(zhong)皮肉質(zhi)半(ban)透明,多(duo)(duo)汁;內種(zhong)(zhong)皮革質(zhi)。性味甘、酸澀、溫,具(ju)有殺蟲、收斂(lian)、澀腸、止痢等功效。石榴(liu)(liu)果實營養豐富,維生(sheng)素(su)C含量比蘋果、梨(li)要高出一二倍。中國傳統文化視石榴(liu)(liu)為(wei)吉(ji)祥物(wu),視它為(wei)多(duo)(duo)子多(duo)(duo)福(fu)的象(xiang)征(zheng)。
