法喜寺建筑(zhu)雄偉,布局莊嚴。寺內殿(dian)(dian)堂(tang)(tang)(tang)很多,除大殿(dian)(dian)外,有(you)(you)肅儀亭、夜講堂(tang)(tang)(tang)、白云堂(tang)(tang)(tang)、兩峰(feng)(feng)堂(tang)(tang)(tang)、雪坡(po)軒等。寺四周有(you)(you)白云峰(feng)(feng)、白云泉、乳(ru)竇峰(feng)(feng)、乳(ru)竇泉等名(ming)(ming)勝。白云峰(feng)(feng)的白云茶曾是(shi)南宋(song)歲貢的西湖名(ming)(ming)茶。宋(song)元(yuan)(yuan)祐中,蘇東坡(po)出任杭州知(zhi)府,曾數次來游(you),留(liu)下《雨中游(you)天(tian)竺靈感觀音(yin)院》等詩篇。宋(song)朱熹(xi)、呂祖(zu)謙、戴復古(gu),元(yuan)(yuan)趙孟、倪瓚等均有(you)(you)游(you)上天(tian)竺詩。宋(song)代抗金(jin)英(ying)雄岳飛(fei)的《歸赴行在(zai)過上天(tian)竺寺偶題(ti)》詩篇更是(shi)氣壯山河,令(ling)人感奮。現寺中有(you)(you)大殿(dian)(dian)和(he)齋(zhai)、客堂(tang)(tang)(tang)等輔助(zhu)用房(fang),鑄5噸半重的大銅鐘,并在(zai)重建天(tian)王(wang)殿(dian)(dian)和(he)后殿(dian)(dian) 。

1、最好是(shi)在每月的(de)初一、十五(wu)去比較好,無法控制就(jiu)看機緣,隨性(xing)而去;
2、禮(li)佛前沐浴更衣,有條件焚香冥想(xiang)更好(hao),建議當天吃素(su);

由于(yu)(yu)(yu)宋(song)真宗崇(chong)佛(fo)道,繼而宋(song)仁(ren)宗推(tui)崇(chong)佛(fo)教(jiao)(jiao),因此,當(dang)時杭(hang)州官如蘇軾、蔡(cai)襄、沈(shen)文通(tong)等均與杭(hang)州佛(fo)門密切交往(wang),也使(shi)靈竺趨于(yu)(yu)(yu)興(xing)盛(sheng)。宋(song)仁(ren)宗天圣初年(nian)(nian)(1023年(nian)(nian))有銑和(he)尚在白云(yun)峰(feng)、獅(shi)子(zi)峰(feng)之(zhi)間建(jian)觀音殿(dian),一時香火甚盛(sheng),“眾(zhong)山環拱,煙云(yun)瓢渺(miao),時聞鐘聲(sheng),恍然天官”。皇佑元年(nian)(nian)(1049年(nian)(nian)),宋(song)仁(ren)宗曾將(jiang)秘典5330卷賜予看經院,作(zuo)為教(jiao)(jiao)藏,為此專門造了藏經殿(dian)。至(zhi)嘉(jia)佑中(1059-1060年(nian)(nian)),杭(hang)州郡守(shou)沈(shen)文通(tong)認為“觀音以聲(sheng)音宣佛(fo)力,非禪那所(suo)居”,提出“以教(jiao)(jiao)易禪”,將(jiang)禪寺(si)改為教(jiao)(jiao)寺(si),并命寺(si)僧(seng)辯(bian)才(即元凈)主持筑室,殿(dian)加重檐,宋(song)仁(ren)宗親書“靈感觀音院”寺(si)額。至(zhi)治平(ping)中(1065年(nian)(nian)前后)蔡(cai)襄守(shou)郡,由宰相(xiang)曾公(gong)亮出資(zi)修建(jian)寺(si)皖,并將(jiang)其所(suo)贈佛(fo)經5230卷藏于(yu)(yu)(yu)院之(zhi)西廡。元符三年(nian)(nian)(1100年(nian)(nian))十六觀堂落成。
宋(song)(song)室南(nan)遷(qian)后,金(jin)兵于建(jian)(jian)炎四年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian)(1130年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian))入侵(qin)杭(hang)城。當(dang)(dang)時(shi)金(jin)兀(wu)術(即完顏宗(zong)(zong)(zong)弼(bi))曾謁上(shang)(shang)天(tian)(tian)竺(zhu)(zhu)(zhu),得咒觀(guan)(guan)音(yin)(yin)像始末,遂將(jiang)觀(guan)(guan)音(yin)(yin)像及(ji)大藏(zang)(zang)經載于轎車內(nei)運往(wang)北方,寺(si)僧智完率弟子(zi)跟隨至燕(yan)京(jing)西南(nan)五(wu)(wu)里的玉河鄉建(jian)(jian)寺(si)供(gong)奉。紹興二(er)年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian)(1132年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian)),宋(song)(song)高(gao)宗(zong)(zong)(zong)命(ming)住持惟日建(jian)(jian)藏(zang)(zang)經樓(lou)和(he)應真(zhen)閣,并于紹興五(wu)(wu)年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian)親臨進(jin)香。隆興二(er)年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian)(1164年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian)),宋(song)(song)孝(xiao)宗(zong)(zong)(zong)又(you)(you)(you)命(ming)臨安(an)府尹(yin)曹澄督建(jian)(jian)五(wu)(wu)百羅漢堂。干(gan)道元年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian)(1165年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian))二(er)月,宋(song)(song)孝(xiao)宗(zong)(zong)(zong)專門召見上(shang)(shang)天(tian)(tian)竺(zhu)(zhu)(zhu)住持若納,并封為(wei)(wei)(wei)“右街僧竺(zhu)(zhu)(zhu)”,后又(you)(you)(you)封“左街僧竺(zhu)(zhu)(zhu)”,賜(si)“白(bai)云堂印”,命(ming)若納管轄禪、教、律三宗(zong)(zong)(zong)和(he)江南(nan)佛教事(shi)務,由此,上(shang)(shang)天(tian)(tian)竺(zhu)(zhu)(zhu)寺(si)名重京(jing)師。干(gan)道三年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian)(1167年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian)),宋(song)(song)孝(xiao)宗(zong)(zong)(zong)還視往(wang)察(cha)看,賜(si)絹錢二(er)萬,命(ming)重建(jian)(jian)十六觀(guan)(guan)堂。至干(gan)道八年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian)(1172年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian))二(er)月又(you)(you)(you)下詔重修寺(si)院,改院為(wei)(wei)(wei)寺(si),御書(shu)“法(fa)輪寶藏(zang)(zang)”額,將(jiang)曰月珠、鬼(gui)谷珠,貓眼等(deng)內(nei)宮珠寶賜(si)予(yu)該院。淳熙元年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian)(1174年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian))又(you)(you)(you)將(jiang)福(fu)州(zhou)印造(zao)的藏(zang)(zang)經500函賜(si)藏(zang)(zang)該院。翌年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian),宋(song)(song)孝(xiao)宗(zong)(zong)(zong)到上(shang)(shang)天(tian)(tian)竺(zhu)(zhu)(zhu)進(jin)香,正(zheng)式改院為(wei)(wei)(wei)“靈(ling)感觀(guan)(guan)音(yin)(yin)講寺(si)”。當(dang)(dang)時(shi),凡帝(di)王上(shang)(shang)山(shan)進(jin)香都(dou)在(zai)白(bai)云堂進(jin)齋(zhai)。至宋(song)(song)寧宗(zong)(zong)(zong)慶(qing)元三年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian)(1197年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian))改名為(wei)(wei)(wei)“天(tian)(tian)竺(zhu)(zhu)(zhu)教寺(si)”,評(ping)定為(wei)(wei)(wei)教寺(si)“五(wu)(wu)山(shan)之首(shou)”。凡高(gao)麗等(deng)國使者僧人來朝(chao),都(dou)至上(shang)(shang)天(tian)(tian)竺(zhu)(zhu)(zhu)交驗書(shu)牒并予(yu)接待。開禧二(er)年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian)(l206年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian))七月燈火(huo)成災,十六觀(guan)(guan)堂被(bei)(bei)毀,住持妙蛙竭力營建(jian)(jian),一年(nian)(nian)(nian)(nian)完工。南(nan)宋(song)(song)后期,上(shang)(shang)天(tian)(tian)竺(zhu)(zhu)(zhu)菩薩被(bei)(bei)朝(chao)廷奉為(wei)(wei)(wei)“治國安(an)邦”的主(zhu)宰。宋(song)(song)理宗(zong)(zong)(zong)趙昀(yun)在(zai)《天(tian)(tian)竺(zhu)(zhu)(zhu)靈(ling)感觀(guan)(guan)音(yin)(yin)大士贊》中稱:“神通至妙兮隱(yin)顯莫測,功(gong)德無邊兮應感奚速。時(shi)和(he)歲豐(feng)兮豐(feng)佑(you)我民,兵寢刑措(cuo)兮康(kang)此王國。”
宋(song)末咸(xian)淳二(er)年(nian)(nian)(nian)(1266年(nian)(nian)(nian)),寺(si)(si)院盡毀,于五年(nian)(nian)(nian)由寺(si)(si)僧(seng)慶思募(mu)建(jian),乃改為“天(tian)(tian)竺(zhu)教寺(si)(si)”,至(zhi)(zhi)元末時,上(shang)天(tian)(tian)竺(zhu)寺(si)(si)院又毀,直至(zhi)(zhi)明(ming)(ming)洪武十(shi)五年(nian)(nian)(nian)(1382年(nian)(nian)(nian)),高僧(seng)宗泐入京任僧(seng)侶左(zuo)善世師,奏請重建(jian);明(ming)(ming)太祖遂下(xia)旨建(jian)觀音(yin)菩(pu)薩殿,并(bing)下(xia)令(ling)杭(hang)城駐軍停操二(er)月(yue)為建(jian)寺(si)(si)搬(ban)運磚(zhuan)木(mu)。明(ming)(ming)正(zheng)統(tong)十(shi)年(nian)(nian)(nian)(1445年(nian)(nian)(nian))明(ming)(ming)英宗朱祁鎮將本山(shan)《北(bei)藏經(jing)》5048卷(juan)賜藏該寺(si)(si)左(zuo)右,同(tong)時附(fu)有《護藏敕諭(yu)》一(yi)道。在明(ming)(ming)朝(chao)統(tong)治二(er)百七十(shi)余年(nian)(nian)(nian)間,上(shang)天(tian)(tian)竺(zhu)完(wan)全靠僧(seng)人募(mu)化等(deng)(deng)辦法整修(xiu)寺(si)(si)院。清朝(chao)前期,清帝信奉觀音(yin)大(da)士“奇(qi)術(shu)妙相”、“靈感顯(xian)應”,對天(tian)(tian)竺(zhu)寺(si)(si)恩寵有加。康熙玄(xuan)(xuan)燁(ye),六巡江(jiang)南,五到上(shang)天(tian)(tian)竺(zhu)。康熙五年(nian)(nian)(nian)(1666年(nian)(nian)(nian))發朝(chao)廷內庫(ku)“重為周色”,并(bing)賜《金(jin)書(shu)(shu)尊(zun)經(jing)》,官員們(men)盛贊此舉使(shi)“湖山(shan)動色,草(cao)木(mu)回光,美哉圣(sheng)乎!”玄(xuan)(xuan)燁(ye)先后賜御書(shu)(shu)《金(jin)剛經(jing)》石刻一(yi)部、御書(shu)(shu)“法雨慈云”匾額(e)、金(jin)字《心(xin)經(jing)》、墨刻《藥師經(jing)》、御制(zhi)《重修(xiu)上(shang)天(tian)(tian)竺(zhu)寺(si)(si)碑記》等(deng)(deng)。
乾隆十六年(1751年)三月(yue),弘歷初到(dao)南巡(xun)進兩到(dao)上(shang)天竺(zhu),除題(ti)詩外,并(bing)定名(ming)上(shang)天竺(zhu)寺為(wei)“法喜寺”,御書(shu)寺額和(he)“寶(bao)陀(tuo)飛觀(guan)(guan)”、“普(pu)甘露門”等匾(bian)額,題(ti)寫(xie)柱聯有:“繞座(zuo)法輪明寶(bao)月(yue),盈階甘雨散花天。”此后,他每到(dao)上(shang)天竺(zhu),必有賞(shang)賜或有卸書(shu)題(ti)字,先后該觀(guan)(guan)音像、佛像,石(shi)刻(ke)《蓮華(hua)經(jing)》,御書(shu)《華(hua)嚴經(jing)》、《蘭亭圖石(shi)刻(ke)手卷》,并(bing)題(ti)寫(xie)“色空不二”、“印真闡諦”匾(bian)額等,他手書(shu)的《千手千眼(yan)觀(guan)(guan)世音大悲心陀(tuo)羅尼(ni)經(jing)》石(shi)刻(ke)一冊曾(ceng)刻(ke)石(shi)19塊嵌于法喜寺羅漢大士殿。
正是(shi)由于(yu)朝廷的(de)提(ti)倡(chang)和眾多佛徒信眾對“觀音(yin)靈(ling)驗”的(de)信奉(feng),故明清時(shi),浙江蘇(su)南各地的(de)鄉(xiang)民村姑都紛(fen)紛(fen)來天(tian)竺(zhu)(zhu)進香,成(cheng)(cheng)為(wei)每年(nian)(nian)一度的(de)“香市(shi)”。據《武林舊事》、《仁和懸志》稱:“方奉(feng)時(shi),鄉(xiang)民扶老攜幼,焚(fen)香頂禮大士(shi),以祝(zhu)豐年(nian)(nian),香車寶(bao)馬,絡(luo)繹于(yu)道(dao),更有自(zi)遠方負擔而來者(zhe),名曰香客(ke)。凡自(zi)普陀院回向(xiang),未有不(bu)至(zhi)(zhi)此者(zhe)。”“二月十(shi)九日為(wei)觀音(yin)大士(shi)誕辰,三吳浙東士(shi)民,齋至(zhi)(zhi)藝香,舟(zhou)車絡(luo)繹,晝(zhou)夜(ye)不(bu)絕(jue)。”每年(nian)(nian)新(xin)年(nian)(nian)剛過(guo),“春服(fu)既(ji)成(cheng)(cheng)”,而養(yang)蠶尚早(zao),于(yu)是(shi)“銜舟(zhou)打槳,進香天(tian)竺(zhu)(zhu),結舫為(wei)鄰,棲至(zhi)(zhi)于(yu)此”。每逢香市(shi)自(zi)武林門、松木場、經昭訂寺到天(tian)竺(zhu)(zhu),沿途擺滿(man)各種貨攤(tan),販賣各種用具(ju)、土產(chan)、玩具(ju)等,為(wei)時(shi)一月有余(yu),延綿數里,道(dao)為(wei)之(zhi)塞。“天(tian)竺(zhu)(zhu)香市(shi)”被列為(wei)“十(shi)八(ba)景之(zhi)一”,直至(zhi)(zhi)1949年(nian)(nian)前,三竺(zhu)(zhu)路旁仍建(jian)有相連(lian)平房供(gong)香客(ke)宿夜(ye)。50年(nian)(nian)代后開(kai)始(shi)衰落(luo),70年(nian)(nian)代末(mo)開(kai)始(shi)重(zhong)又興盛(sheng)。
“文革”期(qi)間,法(fa)喜(xi)寺亦遭(zao)劫(jie)難(nan)(nan)。改革開放後,杭州市政府把天(tian)竺三寺列為(wei)西湖風景區名勝發展項目,法(fa)喜(xi)寺又(you)喜(xi)逢佛(fo)緣(yuan)盛世。在國內(nei)外(wai)十方大德賢(xian)士支持(chi)下,寺院煥發新彩(cai)。重修後的(de)(de)法(fa)喜(xi)寺現有(you)天(tian)王殿、圓通(tong)殿、大雄(xiong)寶(bao)殿、齋堂、客(ke)房、山門等主要建筑。尤其是大雄(xiong)寶(bao)殿的(de)(de)五(wu)百(bai)羅漢山,其雕塑(su)造(zao)型藝術(shu)融全國各地寺院五(wu)百(bai)羅漢造(zao)像風格。寺內(nei)還有(you)生長歷史已有(you)五(wu)百(bai)多(duo)年(nian)的(de)(de)古(gu)玉蘭和方竹(zhu),其中古(gu)玉蘭只每年(nian)二(er)月十二(er)開花(hua)(hua),二(er)月二(er)十即凋謝,開花(hua)(hua)期(qi)僅八天(tian),故爾有(you)緣(yuan)睹其花(hua)(hua)者甚為(wei)難(nan)(nan)得。
